ALBAWABA- Iran has executed Mohsen Langarneshin, a high-ranking figure convicted of espionage and collaboration with Israel's Mossad, the country's judiciary announced today.
According to official statements, Langarneshin had undergone covert intelligence training by Mossad agents in Georgia and Nepal.
He was arrested after Iranian intelligence traced his involvement in multiple covert operations over two years, including a major role in the May 2022 assassination of IRGC commander General Hassan Sayyad Khodayi in central Tehran.
Khodayi, a senior officer in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Quds Force (specifically Unit 840, tasked with extraterritorial operations), was shot five times at close range while sitting in his car. Iranian media and officials linked Langarneshin directly to that assassination, describing it as part of a broader Israeli operation to target key Iranian military and nuclear figures.Tehran also alleged that Langarneshin's espionage activities extended to other terror operations on Iranian soil. Israeli sources have long maintained that Khodayi played a role in Iran's overseas military and possibly nuclear activities, though the details remain classified.

US considers $500 million for controversial Gaza aid foundation: Sources

The US State Department is weighing a proposal to allocate USD 500 million to the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), according to two informed sources and two former US officials familiar with the discussions cited by Reuters. The funding would come through the US Agency for International Development (USAID), which is currently being integrated into the State Department, the sources said. All four individuals spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter. If approved, the move would significantly deepen US involvement in a controversial aid operation that has faced criticism over its ability to operate effectively and safely in Gaza, according to Reuters. The proposal has sparked pushback from some within the US government, with concerns focused on the GHF's alleged lack of neutrality and recent incidents of violence near aid distribution points, including fatal shootings of Palestinians, according to the sources. The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation began its first aid deliveries last week, following an 11-week 'Israeli' blockade that was partially lifted on May 19. The United Nations and other humanitarian organizations have warned that most of Gaza's 2.3 million residents remain at risk of famine. Some international relief agencies have publicly criticized the GHF, accusing it of bypassing established humanitarian norms and lacking transparency in its operations.

'Israeli' forces raid Al Jazeera office in Ramallah, renew 60-day closure order

Israeli Occupation Forces raided Al Jazeera's office in the West Bank city of Ramallah on Friday and renewed its closure for another 60 days, according to Al Jazeera. This marks the latest escalation in a series of measures aimed at silencing the Qatari-based network's coverage in the occupied Palestinian territories. The renewed closure comes after a similar 60-day extension in April. The office was first shut down in September 2023 under a military order, during which 'Israeli' forces stormed the premises, confiscated all equipment and documents, and banned staff from using their vehicles. In May 2024, the 'Israeli' government formally approved a proposal by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi to shut down Al Jazeera's offices inside 'Israel'. The decision was implemented immediately under what was dubbed the 'Al Jazeera Law,' allowing 'Israeli' authorities to block the network's broadcasts and operations within the country.

According to the IOF, the operation took place in the Rafah area of the Gaza Strip. Nattapong Pinta was captured from Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7, 2023, and died while in captivity. After the body was recovered, it underwent identification by the National Institute of Forensic Medicine in coordination with the 'Israel' Police. In their statement, the 'Israeli' army also reported that Hamas continues to hold the body of another foreign national.
