Gal Gadot's Hollywood walk of fame ceremony disrupted by Pro-Israeli and Pro-Palestinian protesters

ALBAWABA - Gal Gadot's Walk of Fame ceremony faced intense protests.
Pro-Israeli and pro-Palestinian protestors disrupted Israeli actor Gal Gadot's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on Tuesday, delaying it and prompting a police response.
Several dozen protesters gathered before the ceremony for the Wonder Woman star, as she is a vocal supporter of the Israeli military. According to Variety, pro-Palestinian demonstrators carried posters reading "Heroes Fight Like Palestinians," "Viva Viva Palestina," and "No Other Land Won Oscar," all referring to the documentary on Israeli intrusions into Palestinian land in the West Bank that received the award for best documentary this month.
Variety writer Katcy Stephan shared a video of demonstrators yelling "shame on Gal Gadot" on X. Another image showed several demonstrators handcuffed by police. The people were also shouting, "Up up with liberation, down down with occupation," in addition to "not another nickel, not another dime, no more money for Israel's crime." According to Variety, about two dozen protesters gathered on each side.

The demonstrations pushed the event back by nearly 15 minutes. Protesters could still be heard as the hearings began, and police were summoned after a pro-Palestinian demonstrator stole an Israeli flag.
Gadot, who plays the Evil Queen in Disney's live-action Snow White, served in the Israeli military and has publicly supported Israel since the 7 October terrorist attacks and subsequent invasion of Gaza, both on social media and in an impassioned speech before the Anti-Defamation League's annual summit on March 4. "Never did I imagine that on the streets of the United States and different cities around the world, we would see people not condemning Hamas but celebrating, justifying, and cheering on a massacre of Jews," she remarked when she spoke.
Speaking to Variety ahead of Tuesday's celebration, Gadot said how she became more forthright with her politics during the Hamas-led attack on Israeli citizens on October 7, 2023. "When people were abducted from their homes, from their beds—men, women, children, the elderly, and Holocaust survivors—were going through the horrors of what happened that day; I could not be silent," she told me. "I was astounded by the amount of hatred, how much people believe they know when they really don't, and how often the media is unfair. So I needed to speak up."

"I am all about humanity," she told me, "and I felt like I had to advocate for the hostages." Regarding criticism of her stances, she stated, "When your compass is clear, your conscience is clean." I know what I'm advocating for and what I want for the world.
During her ceremony, Gadot avoided the subject, instead thanking Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins and Fast & Furious star Vin Diesel and referring to herself as "just a girl from a town in Israel."
The demonstrations come ahead of Snow White's opening weekend, which has been fraught with controversy in the weeks preceding its release. Speculation of a schism between Gadot and co-star Rachel Zegler, who is strongly pro-Palestine, arose when Disney shortened last weekend's world premiere, limiting interviews to in-house, talent-friendly press. Zegler has also come under fire for publicly disparaging the original 1937 version of Snow White and wishing on Instagram that Donald Trump and his supporters "know no peace" following the November election. She has since apologized.
Gadot is not the only Disney celebrity who has received criticism for her views on the Israel-Palestine conflict. Last month, several dozen pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered outside the Hollywood premiere of Captain America: Brave New World, asking for a boycott of the film due to the presence of Israeli superhero Ruth Bat-Seraph, AKA Sabra, played by Israeli actress Shira Haas.
They brandished placards with inscriptions like "Disney Supports Genocide." In a joint letter, numerous Palestinian cultural groups stated that "by reviving this racist character in any form, Marvel is promoting Israel's brutal oppression of Palestinians."

'Israeli' facility lets children play ‘terrorist hunters' in simulated Palestinian village

A controversial "Israeli" facility, dubbed Fauda Base, is facing backlash after reports emerged that it allows children as young as six to engage in simulated undercover military operations, including dressing up as "terrorists" and conducting mock raids on a fabricated Palestinian village. The center, located in central "Israel", takes its name from the hit Netflix series Fauda, which dramatizes the actions of an elite "Israeli" undercover unit known as mista'arvim. These units operate disguised as Palestinians, often carrying out lethal operations in the occupied West Bank. The facility is operated by veterans from such units in collaboration with the "Israeli" entertainment company YES, the producer of the series. While the Fauda Base website claims its activities are designed for teens aged 15 and up (12 in its English version), an undercover report by HaMakom revealed that children as young as six have been permitted to participate in shooting simulations. However, the facility later denied this, stating that the minimum age for participants is 16. The experience, marketed as a chance to "go undercover," offers visitors a hands-on glimpse into life as a covert operative. According to its promotional materials, participants engage in 'a special operation and saving human lives,' while wearing gear associated with undercover forces—including mock firearms, military fatigues, and costumes resembling traditional Palestinian attire. 'What will you do when you hear them scream? Have you always dreamed of going undercover? Now's your chance to know what it's like to battle undercover,' the homepage reads. Screencap from the Fauda Base website Activities unfold in a fictional setting called 'El Mahmoudiya,' featuring a market, restaurants, and buildings designed to simulate a Palestinian village. A separate "Bedouin village" experience is also offered, advertised as an "authentic" cultural retreat following the mission. Visitors are assigned roles that include mista'arvim agents, 'terrorists,' and civilians. According to HaMakom's investigation, some participants darken their teeth and wear keffiyehs or fake beards to mimic Palestinians. The experience includes elements such as Krav Maga, urban combat training, and target shooting—though the facility insists all weapons are airsoft and no human targets are involved. Despite criticism, Fauda Base operators claim the experience is apolitical and not meant to educate. 'The activity at the Fauda Base is an experiential activity, not an educational one, full of love for the Arabic language and culture which is part of every good mista'arv person,' they said in a statement. Critics argue the facility reinforces dangerous stereotypes and militarizes children in a deeply polarized context. The "Israeli" mista'arvim units have long been controversial; their operations have included assassinations in the middle of Palestinian cities and even deadly raids in hospitals, as occurred in Jenin last year.

Blake Lively drops two claims against Justin Baldoni

Blake Lively has withdrawn two major claims against director and actor Justin Baldoni in their ongoing legal dispute stemming from their work on the 2024 film It Ends With Us. According to court documents filed Monday, Lively is seeking to dismiss her claims of intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress. The move comes after Baldoni's legal team requested access to her medical and therapy records to support their defense. Lively's lawyers told Variety the decision was a strategic effort to 'streamline and focus' her case, which still includes allegations of sexual harassment, retaliation, and defamation. Baldoni's attorneys, however, opposed the withdrawal 'without prejudice,' warning it could allow the claims to be refiled later. The legal battle began in December 2024 when Lively sued Baldoni, accusing him of harassment and a smear campaign. In January, Baldoni countersued Lively and her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, alleging civil extortion and defamation. A trial is expected to begin in March 2026.

Marvel delays Avengers: Doomsday & Secret Wars — Here's why it matters

ALBAWABA - Marvel movies Doomsday and Secret Wars move from May to December in 2026 and 2027 Marvel Studios has chosen to delay its next two high-stakes Avengers movies by seven months apiece. Avengers: Doomsday moves from May 1 to December 18, 2026, while Avengers: Secret Wars shifts from May 27, 2027 to December 17 of that year. the delay is just to accommodate the 'gargantuan vision' of two films that will be 'among the biggest ever made.' (Or maybe Marvel is scared of GTA 6.) The films are being made back-to-back by directors Joe and Anthony Russo, who directed the two previous Avengers team-up movies and Marvel's two highest-grossing films: 2018's Infinity War and 2019's Endgame. Avengers: Doomsday is in production now. Marvel owner Disney won't have any concerns about moving the Avengers movies from their traditional early summer slots to the holidays. Spider-Man: No Way Home launched in mid-December 2021 and was a massive success, becoming the third-highest-grossing Marvel film. (Avengers: Doomsday's coveted May 1, 2026 slot will go to another big Disney movie, The Devil Wears Prada 2.) (L-R) Louis D'Esposito, Co-President, Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, President, Marvel Studios, Robert Downey Jr., Joe Russo and Anthony Russo (Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Images for Disney/AFP) Still, the move reflects a shift from quantity to quality at Marvel Studios, which Disney CEO Bob Iger said during an investor call had 'lost a little focus by making too much.' After releasing only one film in 2024 (Deadpool & Wolverine), Marvel is putting out three in fairly quick success in 2025: Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and the forthcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps. But then there will be a break of a full year — long by Marvel standards — before Spider-Man: Brand New Day in July 2026, followed by another yearlong break between the two upcoming Avengers movies. Disney has removed or swapped out several slots for 'untitled Marvel' projects in 2026 and 2027, though it has three slots in 2028 reserved for Marvel films. What these might be — indeed, what the future holds generally for the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Secret Wars — remains a mystery. The status of the Armor Wars movie is unknown, to say nothing of the beleaguered Blade, while plans for Shang-Chi and Black Panther sequels remain vague. Above all this looms the specter of a possible X-Men movie, which finally seems to be coming together. The two Avengers films ought to be more than enough to look forward to in the meantime. Marvel's announced cast for Doomsday is a multiversal pile-up of MCU veterans, newcomers from Fantastic Four and Thunderbolts*, actors from the legacy Fox X-Men movies, and wild cards like Channing Tatum's Gambit. The cast is led by Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, not Tony Stark. They really could go anywhere from here.
