Felda youth pivotal for Malaysia's future success, says Ahmad Shabery
He said many Felda youths have already gained international recognition.
'One day, Felda will produce outstanding individuals, not just for Felda, but for our beloved country,' he said during the Felda Settlers' Appreciation Ceremony held in conjunction with the Mega 3D Carnival 2025 here today. It was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Rubiah Wang and FGV Holdings Bhd (FGV) Chairman Tan Sri Rastam Mohd Isa.
Expanding on this, Ahmad Shabery cited the example of Felda students from the Ulul Albab Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) in Felda Trolak who recently won the Golden Diploma Award at the 2025 International Wind Orchestra Festival held in Prague, Czech Republic, last June.
He said the MARESMAF Wind Orchestra (MAWO) team triumphed over seven orchestras from six different countries, proving that Felda now stands at an important and meaningful juncture for the nation.
'There are many MRSMs in Malaysia, so why is special attention given to MRSM Trolak? Because it is the Felda MRSM — the children and grandchildren of Felda settlers... their mastery of the Ulul Albab discipline, memorising the Qur'an, and now emerging champions in an international competition in Prague,' he said.
At the same time, he expressed appreciation to the Government for its ongoing support, and to Ahmad Zahid — who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development — for consistently inquiring into Felda's needs.
'Having Government leadership that understands and empathises with Felda is crucial, and Datuk Seri (Ahmad Zahid) is always asking what Felda's challenges are and how they can be helped... many forms of assistance have been extended under his ministry from time to time,' he added. - Bernama

The initiative ensures TVET pathways remain on par with traditional academic fields without compromising quality. Ahmad Zahid emphasised the importance of globally recognised graduates across all industrial sectors. He spoke at the MQA Awards 2025 ceremony, attended by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir and MQA CEO Professor Datuk Dr Mohammad Shatar Sabran. The Articulation Programme allows Malaysian Skills Certification holders to pursue higher education. Ahmad Zahid, who chairs the National TVET Council, stressed the need for swift adaptation to IR 4.0 and AI advancements. He said educational institutions must ensure curricula stay relevant and research remains impactful. Graduates must develop future-proof skills like computational thinking and data literacy, he noted. Ahmad Zahid praised industry-oriented curricula and new programmes in Data Science and Cybersecurity. Strategic collaborations with global tech firms will help develop future-ready education, he added. He cited growing international accreditation for Malaysian programmes as a sign of progress. Private institutions contribute through flexible curricula and industry partnerships, he said. Ahmad Zahid expressed confidence in Malaysia's appeal as a global education hub. He concluded, 'Malaysia will continue to be a destination of choice for international students.'

Orang Asli land rights and Act 134 amendments discussed at MaPOA meeting
KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi stated that land and settlement concerns affecting the Orang Asli community were central topics at the Special Meeting of the Orang Asli Consultative Council (MaPOA). Ahmad Zahid, who also serves as Minister of Rural and Regional Development, emphasised that the meeting was pivotal in preparing amendments to the Aboriginal Peoples Act 1954 (Act 134), which has remained largely unchanged for seven decades. He noted that improving education access, essential infrastructure, and economic prospects for the Orang Asli remains a priority for the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) and the Department of Orang Asli Development (Jakoa). 'The amendment of Act 134 is a chance for us to rewrite the development narrative for the Orang Asli community to ensure they remain resilient, competitive, and capable of achieving greater success in the future,' he said in a statement. The meeting, held at Parliament House, was attended by the Deputy Minister of KKDW and key stakeholders. Ahmad Zahid reiterated the government's commitment to legal reforms that enhance Orang Asli rights and improve their socioeconomic conditions. He added that the discussions also set the stage for upcoming talks on Orang Asli land issues at the National Land Council (MTN), chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. 'I believe land rights are not merely about physical ownership. They represent dignity, the continuity of heritage, and a key to the socioeconomic advancement of this community,' he said. He stressed the need for federal-state collaboration, as land matters fall under state jurisdiction, to ensure amendments align with policies and state authority.
