Miss World contestants experience Telangana's blend of eco-tourism and heritage
Miss World contestants from around the world got a colourful taste of Telangana on Friday, soaking in its rich culture and natural charm. The day's itinerary offered a journey through sustainability, tradition, and spiritual heritage — from the ancient banyan marvel at Pillalamarri in Mahabubnagar to the sprawling eco-tourism haven of Experium Eco Park near Hyderabad.
At Experium, 24 contestants from the American group were welcomed with lively dhol beats before exploring the park's many green highlights. The visit wrapped up with a relaxed high-tea roundtable and DJ session, complete with photoshoots set against the park's scenic vistas.
Meanwhile, 22 contestants from the Asia and Oceania group journeyed to Mahabubnagar to explore Telangana's rich cultural legacy. Their tour kicked off at the iconic 700-year-old Pillalamarri banyan tree, a sprawling natural wonder spread over 3.5 acres and among the largest in India. The contestants were welcomed with garlands and treated to vibrant traditional performances, including the Bathukamma festival and Banjara dance, offering a glimpse into the region's vibrant traditions.
The visit continued at the District Archaeological Museum, which houses a collection of artifacts dating from prehistoric to medieval times. The final leg of the Mahabubnagar visit took the contestants to the Rajarajeshwara Temple, a relocated 16th-century Vijayanagara-era Shaivite shrine.
