2025 VMA Nominees: Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, The Weeknd, And More
Leading the pack is Lady Gaga with 12 nominations total, including Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best Album, and more. The 39-year-old is the top overall nominee for the third time and claims 18 career wins.
Bruno Mars closely follows his collaborator with 11 nominations total. Kendrick Lamar has the third most nominations with 10. ROSÉ and Sabrina Carpenter are tied with eight nominations each. Additional top contenders at this year's ceremony include Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, Charli xcx, Bad Bunny, Doechii, Ed Sheeran, Jelly Roll, Miley Cyrus, and Tate McRae.
First-time nominees include Leon Thomas, Freddie Gibbs, Lay Bankz, and Brent Faiyaz. Additionally, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift continue their race for most-ever VMAs with fresh nominations for the 2025 event.
As described in a press statement, the VMAs have been a pop culture juggernaut for more than four decades, celebrating the best music videos of the year with history-making performances, iconic tributes, culture-defining moments, and the biggest surprises from the world's biggest superstars.
The 2025 VMAs are set to broadcast live from UBS Arena on Sunday, September 7th at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS, simulcast on MTV, and streaming on Paramount+ in the U.S. Fan voting is now open for THE 19 gender-neutral categories by visiting vote.mtv.com through Sept. 5, except Best New Artist, which remains active into the awards show.

The ‘Wednesday Season 2 Part 2' Trailer Welcomes Back a Familiar Face
Now that we're just over a week out from the first half of the season 2 release of Netflix's The Addams Family remake, Wednesday, starring Jenna Ortega, the streamer has finally released a new trailer for its second half. The trailer starts nightmarishly, at least for Wednesday, with her waking up in a hospital bed. Although she's not greeted by Momma Monster herself, Lady Gaga, who has yet to make an appearance on the show despite all the hype surrounding her mysterious involvement, Wednesday is met with a familiar face, fan-favorite character Principal Weems, played by Gwendoline Weems' return comes as a surprise, seeing as how last season saw the loathsome head of Nevermore Academy meet her end. Thinking Wednesday also bought the farm after her encounter with Tyler (Hunter Doohan) at the end of season 2's first half, Weems took immense pleasure in revealing that she'll be nagging at Wednesday inside her thoughts as a kind of gothic Jiminy Cricket tag-along as Wednesday gets back to her premonition quest to save her best friend, Enid (Emma Myers), from certain doom. Sprinkled throughout the rest of the trailer is narration by Wednesday, reminding both herself and the viewers that she still has other matters to attend to. Mainly, her family's seemingly endless well of dark secrets bubbling to the surface, and Tyler being on the loose with plans to put Wednesday and Enid in an early grave. While the news of the day is that viewers won't have to wait all that long to get the final half of the split in twain season, fans can take solace in knowing that there's more Wednesday mayhem in store for them in the future beyond the second slice. Namely, a third season is in the works as well as a spin-off. While details on both fronts have been kept under wraps, showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have expressed interest in keeping the show going for at least seven seasons. Our money is on the plans for a spin-off likely taking the focus off of Ortega, should Hollywood come a-knocking for her to do some acting outside of Netflix's backyard. Regardless, Wednesday continues to be a booming success on the streamer. Shortly after Wednesday season two part one premiered on Netflix, Variety reported that the new season has already matched the first season's streaming performance. With Lady Gaga still to make her presence felt on the screen, the show is likely to continue performing well for the streamer and delight fans as it closes out its second season. The Thai singer and actress, 28, released the official short film for "Dream" featuring Japanese actor Kentaro Sakaguchi on Thursday. Lisa portrays a grieving widow in the music video, which opens with a funeral service for her fictional husband (Sakaguchi). She reflects on moments they shared together as she sings "I know a place where we can be us. I know it ain't real, but it's real enough. From sun going down to sun coming up, it's like you're here with me, whenever I close my eyes." She remembers a moment in particular when she asked him what he wanted to be in his next life. After she said she wanted to be a tree, he said, "Then I want to become a lake in front of that tree. There's something magical about the way trees reflect on the lake. So I want to be the lake." The film ends as Lisa spreads his ashes in a lake. Lisa described the song as "an emotional, beautiful story," in a previous post promoting the music video. The song is featured on her album Alter Ego, which dropped in February. Lisa is also a member of Blackpink, alongside Jisoo, Jennie and Rose. The South Korean girl group is on tour through January. They released "Jump," their first single of the year, in July. Swift revisits the emotional journey of buying back her master recordings Swift opened up to the Kelce brothers about the emotional process of 'I always refer to it as 'I got my music back this summer,' but I never owned my music at all,' Swift said, noting that she signed her record deal at age 15, and that many artists don't own their masters. 'I want to own all of it,' Swift said, noting that it was a 'long shot' that 'they would sell that asset to me.' Swift started to tear up while talking about her family's role in helping her strike the deal, revealing that she sent her mother and brother — rather than lawyers or managers — to speak with the firm.
