Roofe, 32, has endured a frustrating time of things since leaving the Gers at the end of the 2023/24 season.
The striker was a fans' favourite at Ibrox, but injuries derailed his time in Scottish football.
The prolific frontman was regularly out of action during his final couple of seasons in Glasgow.
After leaving Rangers in May last year, he spent eight months without a club.
In February, his time as a free agent came to an end when he joined Derby on a deal until the end of the season.
Injury, however, would strike again and Roofe was restricted to just three appearances for the Rams.
It was little surprise, therefore, when he was one of the players released by the club upon the conclusion of the season.
But just seven weeks after that decision, Roofe is now BACK at Derby.
The Jamaica international has shared a series of pictures on his Instagram showing him in pre-season training with the club.
However, Roofe has NOT re-joined them, at least not yet.
Sir Sean Connery's secret £1 MILLION investment in Rangers revealed
Local media reports have confirmed the striker isn't under contract and is training with the squad to work on his fitness.
It's been reported that Derby boss John Eustace liked the influence Roofe had in and around the club last season.
Speaking earlier this year, Roofe revealed that he had been training alone in a public park prior to joining Derby.
He did so in order to keep his fitness levels high for when an opportunity came calling.
Roofe said: "The grass wasn't cut, the pitches would be frozen at times.
"There'd be dog poo on the pitch and dogs running on the pitch as well."

Alcohol at football plans supported by local club as Stirling fans enjoy tipple

Stirling Albion unveiled a complimentary beer tasting ahead of their weekend home match - with the club having a successful trial of alcohol at a 'fanzone' earlier this summer. Football fans in Stirling over the weekend enjoyed the chance for an extra special tipple as part of a newly launched initiative as club chiefs gave backing to alcohol sales at matches once again. ‌ The launch of the new draught beer system at the stadium was unveiled ahead of the match between Stirling Albion and Annan Athletic on Saturday, with fans of both clubs enjoying complimentary tastings of beers run by West Brewery. ‌ The new service also featured a 'bottom-fill' system for fans wanting an alcoholic drink ahead of kick-off to enjoy a flawless pint. ‌ It's the latest innovation run by Stirling Albion as the debate around alcohol and Scottish football continues to grow over the summer. The Binos were one of several clubs across Scotland who took part in a pilot project during the recent Premier Sports Cup fixtures, with a special 'fanzone' set up at the Forthbank terracing to allow alcohol sales in the build-up to a fixture against Hamilton Accies. The club's commercial director, Fraser McIntyre, gave the Observer a special tour of the facilities on offer for fans - and said the opportunity to bring controlled alcohol sales back to stadia could prove a financial boon for clubs across the country. He said: 'For us, it first started from the SPFL pilot project which started a few months ago and culminated with us having a fanzone at the Hamilton match a few weeks ago. 'We required a beer supplier for that to have partnership with and we spoke to the guys at West Brewery and whether they were willing to come and stock the beer, coming in and helping out. ‌ 'Through conversations on the fanzone, the brewery team discussed the possibility of a low maintenance, low destruction draft system so they put us in touch with a company which has allowed us to launch our supporters bar with a draught system which we haven't been able to do before. 'This arrangement ticks a lot of boxes because we've been able to lock in our pricing with West for the year where previously we would have been vulnerable to changes in the market.' The ban on alcohol inside stadiums was introduced following a riot between Celtic and Rangers supporters after the 1980 Scottish Cup Final. ‌ Mr McIntyre is confident attitudes towards alcohol sales in football are starting to shift and that clubs possess the knowledge to ensure a return would be a safe one. 'I think there's a place for it moving forward,' he continued. 'Alcohol sales in football stadia were banned due to a very high-profile game years ago and for clubs like us who are fighting financially, we have to look at different revenue sources. 'The pilot project is the perfect example. The SPFL were actually wanting to do that for the Hearts game but we saw that as too high-profile with a sell-out with thousands of Hearts fans here. 'It was the club's decision not to run it that day and that shows we have the foresight and the understanding on picking and choosing the games that would be suitable for alcohol sales in collaboration with safety officers from both clubs.'

Rangers miss out on summer transfer target who said Ibrox move ‘would suit me' as he seals big-money move to Italy

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) RANGERS have missed out on one of their main summer targets - as he's opted for a move to Italy instead. Rangers boss Russell Martin last night hinted that he plans to add further reinforcements to his frontline before the window closes after growing frustrated with the lacklustre performances from certain players in his squad. And with Cyriel Dessers potentially facing a spell on the sidelines following his nasty knock, Martin could return to the transfer market to bring another body in. But he won't be able to sign one particular target that the club have have been tracking all summer. Rangers have been linked with several attackers since the window opened, including Matija Frigan and Dor Turgeman to name a couple. It's been fairly quiet on the transfer front in the last few weeks regarding the pair, but one of them is now finally on the move. Croatian hitman Frigan is finally set to leave Westerlo after months of speculation as he nears a big-money move to the Serie A with Parma. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims the 22-year-old has agreed to join the historic Italian outfit in a deal worth close to €10million (£8.6m). It's believed Frigan, who netted 13 times for Westerlo last season, also had interest from English Championship side Hull City as well as Rangers. He emerged as a target for the Light Blues back in June and it was understood the Ibrox club were at one stage preparing a £6m bid for the attacker. He was one of the strikers being eyed as a replacement for Dessers who had AEK Athens on his trail. Rangers players look terrified and exposed under Russell Martin Frigan even revealed later that month that Rangers could be the perfect fit for him - because the style of the Scottish league would suit him. Quizzed on the growing speculation around a move to Glasgow, Frigan said: "Rangers? That style of league would suit me. I think I'm a player for that type of football. "I know about the interest from clubs, it's good to hear and read such things, but we'll see. Nothing has been decided yet "Things are in the hands of my agent and when there is something more concrete, we will know. We will weigh everything up and choose the best option. "I have a good season behind me, some clubs are contacting me, but we will see what is best. "I can't say that I am not enjoying it in Belgium, on the contrary, but a change of environment is always good. "Nothing is ruled out and we will see what happens in this transfer window. "I'm in no hurry and there's plenty of interest in me. Of course, that makes every player happy… "I've got a lot more stronger in Belgium. Working on physical preparation is 90 per cent of the training in Belgian football. "I can say that I'm a lot stronger both mentally and physically." 'I think the ball is in Derby's court'

BBC Radio Lancashire's Scott Reid said "the ball is in Derby County's court" regarding a move for Blackburn captain Lewis Travis after a surprising admission from Rovers' boss Valerien Ismael. This is after Ismael said after his side's Carabao Cup defeat by Bradford City that if the price is right then they would allow Travis to leave."He casually dropped it in the interview that his club captain wants to leave," Reid told BBC Radio Derby."It took us by surprise... It is a strange situation when a manager reveals this."I think Blackburn will sell if Derby offer what valuation they want."Listen to the full analysis and more on BBC Sounds.
