There were barely any parking spaces left in the lot of the Lion Ken Gabbey Community Pool in Riverview Tuesday as the temperature soared.
Natalie LeBlanc decided it was the best place to beat the over 30 C heat.
'I'm on vacation and it's a nice day out, so I figure what better place to be than somewhere I can have a nice swim and soak up some of the sun,' said LeBlanc.
But it's no holiday for those who have to work through a heat warning.
Zack Breau, a member of the aquatics department with the Town of Riverview, said they do everything they can to keep the lifeguards at the community pool safe.
'Things like providing them with cool refreshing electrolyte beverages. Making sure they have access to Freezies. Making sure they have access to sunscreen and of course providing them with a shaded area to rest up and recover between rotations,' said Breau.

Town of Riverview community recreation coordinator Ash Arrowsmith said they ensure employees understand all the policies and procedures.
'Staying hydrated, dressing appropriately, wearing breathable material, wearing your bucket hat,' said Arrowsmith. 'Once it reaches about 35 C with the Humidex we're rotating employees in and out, we're asking them to work in the shade.'
According to CTV Meteorologist Kalin Mitchell, it's going to get hotter in the Greater Moncton area as the week goes on.
'The city can expect a high temperature near 32 C, feeling near 40 C with the Humidex, on both Wednesday and Thursday. A heat warning issued by Environment Canada continues through that period,' said Mitchell.

City of Moncton spokesperson Aloma Jardine said the municipality follows the province's Occupational Health and Safety Act in efforts to protect staff from environmental hazards.
'We actively monitor weather conditions and send alerts to staff who work outdoors,' said Jardine in an email. 'This week, if the forecast holds, daily notifications will be sent each morning to affected workers.'
It's up to each sports association in Greater Moncton to decide if it's safe for their young athletes to hit the field during a heat warning.

Riverview Soccer Association president Scott Costain said canceling a game or practice is pretty rare.
'It has to be over 40 degrees with the Humidex, so we pay attention to the weather and if it's going to be over that kind of temperature then we look to cancel. We usually make a decision by 3:00,' said Costain.
There are more water breaks during games and training sessions for the players in Riverview when the heat becomes an issue.
'If it's our grassroots program we have stations and we actually introduce a sprinkler to one of our stations,' said Costain. 'The kids love that because they get to run through the sprinkler and keep cool.'

In Moncton, a spokesperson for Codiac Soccer said it's always a difficult call to cancel due to weather, but as a general rule, they start to consider it when the humidex reaches 35 or 36 C or when Environment Canada issues a formal heat warning.
Mitchell said the standing high temperature record for the Moncton area for July 16 is 32.8 C and he thinks there's a shot at tying or breaking that record Wednesday.
'The heat and humidity is expected to break Friday into Saturday with a chance of showers and thunderstorms,' said Mitchell.
As of mid-Tuesday afternoon, some soccer, baseball and rugby associations in the Moncton area had canceled field times due to the extreme heat.
