Maura Higgins lands major new TV role after being replaced on Love Island

Daily Mirror2 days ago

Love Island star Maura Higgins has secured a huge boost as she has landed a major role on TV where she will rub shoulders with a very close person to Taylor Swift
Maura Higgins has received a huge boost after being replaced from her presenting spot on Love Island USA. The reality TV star, 34, had found fame on the show herself and landed the spot of host of US Aftersun.
However, she now won't be returning to the role but has something even better up her sleeve. She has been s pending more and more time Stateside, and it appears to be paying off.

Maura has landed a major new show in her bid to break America. The Love Islander is competing in the upcoming series of The Traitors USA and will join the likes of Real Housewives Lisa Rinna, Porsha Williams, Dorinda Medley and Candiace Bassett.

She will rub shoulders with Taylor Swift's boyfriend Travis Kelce's mum Donna as well as Big Brother stars Ian Terry and Tiffany Mitchell. Survivor's Rob Cesternino and Yam Yam Arocho have been named to take part alongside The Amazing Race winner Natalie Anderson.
The Bachelor's Colton Underwood, Dancing with the Stars pro Mark Ballas, RuPaul's Drag Race's Monét X Change, figure skater Johnny Weir and singer Eric Nam are all on the list
The boost comes after Maura couldn't return to Love Island USA due to conflicting schedules. She will be replaced by Sophie Monk, who is already familiar with how Love Island works due to being the host of the Australian version.
Love Island fans haven't lost hope of Maura moving on from the series, however, as they think she could come back to host Aftersun for the second season of Love Island Games which films in Fiji later this year.
Maura got off to a tricky start this year as she was caught kissing married McFly singer Danny Jones at the BRIT Awards following her split from Pete Wicks. Danny went on to issue a grovelling apology to his wife, Georgia Horsley, and son, Cooper, seven, while Maura stayed silent.

She instead fled to the US to focus on a fashion shoot and later returned to attend the music festival Coachella in the California desert. Maura showed she was keen to keep working in the States, having rubbed shoulders with Kendall and Kylie Jenner, as well as Hailey Bieber.
Maura landed the role of social media host for Love Island USA as well as Love Island Games in 2023. A year later, she went on to present Love Island USA: Aftersun and became a hit with viewers.
It seems Maura is keen to continue to work in the US, as she has chosen to take part in their series of Celebrity Traitors instead of the UK. The BBC will air its first ever celebrity spin-off of the hit murder mystery series later this year.
Names including Kate Garraway, Alan Carr, Stephen Fry, Jonathan Ross and Paloma Faith are set to take part, as well as singer Cat Burns, actor Celia Imrie, singer and activist Charlotte Church, broadcaster Clare Balding, historian David Olusoga, rugby star Joe Marler and comedian Joe Wilkinson.

Sam Thompson and Louis Tomlinson hold 'peace dinner' ahead of Soccer Aid match

Sam Thompson and Louis Tomlinson are said to have officially buried the hatchet ahead of this year's Soccer Aid match. The podcast host, 32, and One Direction superstar, 33, have been training together for the charity game this weekend at Old Trafford in Manchester. Sam and Louis join the likes of Tom Grennan, Bella Ramsey, Wayne Rooney, and Jill Scott as the England team takes on World XI FC to raise vital funds for UNICEF. And while fundraising is, of course, the main focus of the event, there has been quiet drama simmering on the sidelines that has also captured fans' attention. You'll remember that Sam was dating former Love Islander Zara McDermott, 28, for five years before shocking everyone by calling it quits last December. Pop star Louis then struck up an unlikely romance with the documentary maker, and they've been spotted on several cosy dates and blissful getaways in recent months. And while everyone was eager for a showdown between Sam and Louis as they both took to the pitch in the name of Soccer Aid, reports claim the pair are keen to avoid anything of the sort. According to The Sun, Zara's ex and her new lover held somewhat of a peace dinner before kick-off. The meal allegedly took place at Champneys in Tring, Herts, with other teammates present. A source told the publication: 'There is no beef between the pair, and they're both going to ensure their love lives don't distract from such a big charity spectacle. 'They are fully aware that their every move is being scrutinised, and they've broken bread with their teammates, so it'll be smooth sailing on the day.' Louis last played for Soccer Aid several years ago, so he's keen to make a strong comeback. He said after his signing was confirmed for the England team: 'Manchester! It's about 10 years since I last turned out for Soccer Aid, so I thought it was about time I returned to the pitch.' Meanwhile, Sam has been ruled out of any pitch action due to injuries he acquired last week during his five-day Soccer Aid challenge. The intense Match Ball Mission saw Sam run and cycle a total of 260 miles from London to Manchester, raising over £1.5million for UNICEF. Alas, Sam has now been forced to take a backseat and help out with Soccer Aid management due to his legs 'falling apart'. He told This Morning a few days ago: 'I'm still very sore, still got the torn calf… I'm not going to be able to run around. You now have me as part of the management team. Come on, England!' He explained that he'll be coaching from the sidelines along with Vicky McClure and Tyson Fury, which allows him to still 'put [his] two pence in'. 'I will still get to be part of it all.' Sam's withdrawal comes after he was quizzed on coming face-to-face with 1D star Louis for the first time since their love lives crossed paths. Speaking on his Staying Relevant podcast, which he hosts with Pete Wicks, Sam explained to his best pal that the unexpected topic from a journalist made him 'sweat'. Sam told Pete of the incident: 'At the end of the interview, he goes, 'Look, mate, I've got to ask the question that everyone wants to know; this is sort of the big question, really, the elephant in the room. What's it going to be like with you and Louis? Obviously he's doing Soccer Aid too.' 'Mate, you should have seen the room. It was silent, and then everyone goes, 'Woah, Woah, Woah, end the call! End the call!' and I have just gone, 'No, no, guys, I've got this, I've got this.' I held my hands up to say, 'Just relax'.' Laughing as he recalled the chaotic moment, Sam said his PR was 'panicking' as, despite putting on a bravado, the reality star actually had no idea what was about to come from his mouth. Thankfully, Sam was able to string a coherent response together and emphasise what really matters with Soccer Aid. 'I think I did alright, and I meant everything I said as well, that it's not about me or Louis or who anyone is dating; it's f**king Unicef and charity, and everyone is going to be there for the exact same reason,' he said. 'And if [Louis] has anything about him, which I've heard he does, he's going to sit there and say the exact same thing.' Pete applauded him for handling the potentially uncomfortable situation with grace, sarcastically asking whether he shed tears once the call ended. 'I came off, and I wasn't far off that [crying], and I didn't realise I was sweating so hard I had sweat patches under my arms,' Sam said. 'You know when you're sweating buckets? And I turned around to our PR and was like, 'Was that OK?'' More Trending 'It's going to be a beautiful, special day, and we are both playing together for such a great cause, and all of us taking part in this are in it for the same reason.' Sam is now thought to be dating ex-Love Island star Samie Elishi, while Louis and Zara were first papped together a couple of months ago. An insider previously told The Sun that the Silver Tongues hitmaker 'absolutely charmed her'. 'It's clear he thinks she's drop-dead gorgeous too.' Got a story? Danny Jones' wife's statement with first post of him since Maura Higgins kiss

Danny Jones' wife Georgia has hinted things may be getting back on track for the couple following the Maura Higgins kiss scandal at the Brit Awards Danny Jones' wife Georgia has posted about him for the first time since THAT Maura Higgins kiss. The 38-year-old, who shares seven-year-old son Cooper with McFly star Danny, 39, paid tribute to her husband on Father's Day. Sharing a snap with her own dad first, former Miss England Georgia then shared a sweet snap of Cooper hugging dad Danny. She cutely captioned the post: "For the Dads. Happy Father's Day." ‌ It's the first time Danny has appeared on Georgia's grid since he was spotted kissing his I'm A Celebrity co-star Maura at a Brits after party back in March. Danny, who has been married to Georgia for over a decade, issued a grovelling public apology after the drunken snog. ‌ In a statement, he said: "Hello everyone, sorry it's taken me a while to post this but I've taken some time out to be with those closest to me. I want to deeply apologise to my wife and family for putting them in this situation. I love them so much and we'll continue to deal with this privately." He added to fans: "I love you guys, thank you for your patience, understanding, and support. See you all soon, Danny." READ MORE: Maura Higgins confirmed for major TV show after being replaced on Love Island After the Maura kiss came to light, Georgia temporarily moved out of their family home. Insiders claimed that the entire ordeal has been "embarrassing" for the mother-of-one, who tied the knot with Danny in 2014. Back in March, a source claimed that while "they may still be married, they are not together and she is still working out what she wants to do." But it's thought Georgia is now back living in the family home in West London and has returned to host her podcast, Mum's The Word! with pal Kelsey Parker. A source told the Mirror in April: "Georgia is returning to face the music after weeks away. She took some time for herself after the incident blew up but now she's ready to talk." ‌ "This wasn't some grand gesture where she suddenly packed her bags and left. It was just a girlie few nights at a close pal's flat. Yes, she wanted some space, but she is home now, and while things are still fragile, they are trying to work things through," a separate source confirmed. Danny, on the other hand, is reported to be keen to work things out and get his marriage with Georgia back on track. "He has made it clear he will do anything to make it work. He loves Georgia and wants their marriage to get back on track," a source told The Sun. Last month Danny skipped an appearance at the BAFTA TV awards after it was rumoured Maura would be there. The 34-year-old made a return to the spotlight on the BAFTA red carpet. Though Maura has remained tight-lipped on the kiss, a source told The Mirror that Maura had been in a "bad way and really struggling". They said: "Maura is a tough character but the reaction to events has been utterly relentless, and it's fair to say it's taken its toll. "She has found all of this very difficult to navigate. She appreciates she's in the public eye and there is extra interest around her, but the abuse is off the charts, and people need to calm down. She is trying to treat things as business as usual, but it's hard."

BBC Antiques Roadshow star Fiona Bruce's revenge on Jeremy Clarkson after on-air swipe

More info Fiona Bruce has firmly established herself as a leading figure on BBC, renowned for her pivotal roles on primetime shows like BBC One's Antiques Roadshow and Question Time. During her illustrious career, she has encountered numerous notable individuals, ranging from prime ministers and MPs to stars of television and acclaimed Hollywood actors. Nevertheless, not every celebrity meeting has gone smoothly for her. In 2007, Fiona made an appearance on Top Gear, engaging in a memorable exchange with host Jeremy Clarkson - a moment that left her less than flattered by his remarks about her "nice bum". It was during her initial appearance on the show that she shared a lift with Clarkson, assisting him out of a jam when he found himself stuck in a Peel P50, labelled the smallest production car in the world. (Image: (Image: BBC)) As she walked away post-rescue, Clarkson couldn't help but comment under his breath: "She has got quite a nice bottom. I said that out loud, didn't it?" At the time, Fiona remained oblivious to the remark, but upon her triumphant return the next year alongside Kate Silverton, she seized the opportunity for revenge, reports the Express. While participating in the segment known as the Star in a Reasonably Sized Car, Fiona gave Clarkson a taste of his own medicine. (Image: PA) Not only did she deliver a playful slap to Clarkson's posterior, commenting that it "needs a bit of work", but she managed to even the score with the host, who would ultimately part ways with the BBC programme. Fiona later took revenge on Clarkson by standing in for him on his Sunday Times car review column, and made a cheeky reference to his earlier comment, starting her column with: "[I'm] Perching my bottom, nice or otherwise, on his patch." Her revenge may have had a lasting impact on the public's perception of her, as two years later she won the female Rear of the Year award - which she labelled as "demeaning". When Radio Times asked her about the incident in a subsequent interview, Fiona quickly became defensive, saying "Don't get me involved in that!" when questioned about smacking the former Top Gear host. Antiques Roadshow in on BBC One on Sundays and BBC iPlayer
