BBC Confirms Neil Young Glastonbury Set Will Be Televized Live After All
Neil Young's on-off relationship with the BBC and Glastonbury appears to have been resolved, for now, and the singer's set will be shown live tonight on the national broadcaster.
Yesterday, the BBC said the iconic singer's performance on the Pyramid Stage would not be available to watch at Young's request, with the BBC planning to instead show Charli XCX's performance from the Other Stage.

As of the past few minutes, this has been reversed.
'We are delighted to confirm that Neil Young's headline set from Glastonbury on Saturday will be broadcast live to audiences across the UK on the BBC,' said a spokeswoman. 'It will be on iPlayer's Pyramid Stage stream from 10pm, as well as BBC Two and Radio 2. Our on-demand plans continue to be finalised.'
Young's relationship with Glastonbury and the BBC has been rocky for months.
Earlier this year, after he had been confirmed as headliner, he and his Chrome Hearts band initially said they were pulling out of the country's biggest music fest because it was under the 'corporate control' of the BBC. This was also reversed shortly afterwards.
Young's will he-won't is not the biggest controversy at this year's Glastonbury, which is attended by more than 200,000 people and kicked off properly yesterday.
In a few hours' time, controversial Irish hip-hop trio Kneecap will take to the West Holts Stage and the BBC is still not clarifying how it will go about covering the set.
One of the group's members, Mo Chara, is currently bailed on a terror charge after displaying a flag at a London gig in support of Hezbollah – a proscribed terrorist group in the UK. This came a few months after counter-terrorism police said they were assessing videos of a bandmember allegedly telling fans at a gig: 'The only good Tory is a dead Tory. Kill your local MP.'
In a Guardian interview yesterday, the band said they were 'in character' when displaying the flag. 'S**t is thrown on stage all the time. If I'm supposed to know every f***ing thing that's thrown on stage… I'd be in Mensa, Jesus Christ,' said Mo Chara, AKA Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh.
All eyes are trained on Kneecap and in what form they appear on the national broadcaster, which has said 'our plans will ensure that our programming will meet our editorial guidelines.'

Venue cancels Marilyn Manson's performance following campaign
A Brighton venue has cancelled rock star Marilyn Manson's show, following pressure from a campaign group and an MP. Manson – real name Brian Warner – was set to kickstart the UK leg of his One Assassination Under God Tour at the Brighton Centre on Wednesday, October 29. Now, customers have been informed by Ticketmaster that the event has been cancelled and they will be refunded. An online campaign group, No Stage for Abusers, called on the Brighton Centre, and Brighton and Hove City Council, which owns the venue, to cancel the performance. In January, a year-long investigation into Manson was dropped. California prosecutors said allegations against Manson exceeded the statute of limitations, adding that they cannot prove charges beyond a reasonable doubt. Manson has repeatedly denied the accusations and dismissed the claims as "falsehoods". Known for his eccentric stage persona and provocative statements and behaviour, Manson has long been a controversial figure. Last week MP Siân Berry expressed her concerns about Manson's upcoming performance in an open letter to leader of Brighton and Hove City Council, Bella Sankey. In Siân's letter she urged the council to consider cancelling the event as she believes it goes against 'the city's well-renowned values'. One person told The Argus: "This is cancel culture nothing more, and it'll backfire when artists don't add a Brighton and Hove date to their tours and stick to London, which incidentally haven't banned Marilyn Manson from their city. Set a very worrisome precedent."

Glastonbury bosses have issued a warning ahead of Kneecap's set as they were expected to 'draw a large audience'. Those who plan to watch the Irish hip-hop trio were urged to 'listen to stewards' and have 'other entertainment options in mind'. Kneecap are due to take to the stage at 4pm on the West Holts stage. "If you're not planning to see them, please plan alternative routes around that area. According to the Mirror, bosses also said Kate Nash "looks set to draw a big crowd to Left Field at 9pm" and urged people to "arrive early". They added: "Scissor Sisters will be very busy at Woodsies at 10.30pm. "It's likely we'll need to close the field once it reaches capacity as part of our crowd planning measures. "Charlie XCX will also be popular in our new enlarged Other Stage arena at 10.30pm." Festival organisers can see which acts will prove popular due to music fans selecting who they are seeing through the Glastonbury app. On Saturday - day four of the festival - a mystery act has been listed on the line-up as Patchwork. Fans have speculated that Haim, Pulp or Chappell Roan could take 6.15pm to 7.15pm slot on the Pyramid Stages. Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts were the top billing on the Pyramid Stage this evening, however the set won't be livestreamed "at the artist's request". A BBC spokesperson said: "On Saturday on BBC iPlayer, our Glastonbury Channel and five streams for the main stages will bring a range of live performances to audiences. "At the artist's request, we won't be livestreaming Neil Young's set. "Our plans, including those for our TV highlights shows and on-demand coverage, continue to be finalised right up to and during the festival."
