During a meeting with Eng. Shihadeh Abu Hdeib, Chairman of the Arab Potash Company, PM Hassan emphasized that private sector contributions and valued initiatives in CSR—especially in education and health—will bolster government efforts to enhance service delivery in these critical areas. He noted that JD 170 million was allocated recently to these sectors under CSR over a three-year period, highlighting the importance of institutionalizing this effort. The Association of Banks in Jordan allocated JD 90 million, Jordan Phosphate Mines Company allocated JD 40 million, while Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company and Jordanian Duty Free Shops committed 5% of their annual profits. The Prime Minister expressed hope that more private companies would follow suit, stressing that CSR should be an ongoing developmental approach that transcends governments and boards. He also noted that each year, supported projects will be announced, and that a Central Bank account has been opened for this purpose. Spending will align with execution progress, and each funded school or health center will publicly acknowledge the contributing entity, promoting a culture of giving and partnership. PM Hassan praised APC's growing international presence, citing its latest expansion deal with U.S.-based Albemarle Corporation, valued at over $800 million. For his part, Eng. Abu Hdeib said that Arab Potash Company follows a balanced strategy that integrates commercial success with social responsibility. The JD 30 million CSR allocation is part of a national effort in collaboration with the government and private sector to institutionalize CSR and reinforce the development role of private companies. He stated that the company's commitment stems from its firm belief in investing in people and achieving sustainable development, and that real development cannot be achieved without human investment. He also emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships, adding that the company follows a clear CSR strategy aimed at long-term, high-impact sectors. He assured that this new commitment will not affect other CSR programs, noting that APC's CSR contributions over the past five years exceeded JD 66 million. He reiterated that the company is a national entity that aims not only for profits, but also for lasting positive impact, working hand in hand with its partners. During the meeting, which was attended by Minister of State for Economic Affairs Mohannad Shehadeh and Minister of Government Communications Dr. Mohammad Al-Momani, Eng. Abu Hdeib presented the company's 2025–2028 strategy, which includes expanding operations, increasing competitiveness, and opening new global markets in line with the company's status as one of Jordan's leading industrial firms. The government has actively encouraged economic sectors to institutionalize CSR efforts and direct them toward essential development and service sectors, particularly high-impact projects in the governorates.
