Following a complaint by the
Vishva Hindu Parishad
(VHP), the
Ayodhya administration
cancelled the permission for the 'Dada Miya Urs', which is held every year at the Dada Miya Mazaar in the Khanpur Masodha area.
According to sources, local VHP members Lalji Sharma and Suryakant Pandey lodged a complaint with the police, claiming a gathering was being organised in the name of "Ghazi Baba" in Khanpur Masodha.
Police investigation revealed that the organisers obtained permission from the local administration for organising the Urs under the name "Urs Dada Miya". However, they were found collecting donations by printing receipts under the name "Ghazi Baba Urs".

The complainants also claimed that during Urs, the organisers invite some clerics who allegedly perform "black magic" and "misguide" people.
"The permission granted under the name 'Urs Dada Miya' has been revoked as it was found that Urs under the name of Ghazi Baba was being planned," Circle Officer Ashutosh Tiwari said.
Meanwhile, no office-bearers of the Urs organising committee have commented on the issue so far.

‘Cattle meat' seized from dairy in Bhopal, father-son duo arrested
Bhopal: Aishbagh police seized freshly slaughtered 'cattle meat' from a dairy, run by a father-son duo in Kammu Ka Bagh area here, early Monday morning. The seized meat has been sent to the FSL laboratory for examination. The result is expected in the next four to five days, said the police. According to the police, tension flared when members of Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) intercepted a loading vehicle, suspecting it to be carrying beef. "A group of Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad members intercepted the vehicle near Patel Nagar on Raisen road and alleged that the vehicle was carrying the banned meat and dumping it in Adampur Chhawani," said the police. They added that the Bajrang Dal and VHP activists demanded that the meat and cattle remains be sent to a laboratory before dumped. The activists staged a protest and blocked the busy 80-Feet road from around 10 am till noon, disrupting traffic for more than two hours. The road blockade caused hardships for commuters, with several of them heading to Bhopal railway station. "The father-son duo was arrested, produced in court and remanded to jail," said ACP (Jehangirabad) Bittu Sharma. Minister for youth affairs Vishwas Sarang said, "The moment this incident came to our notice, the administration was directed to take punitive action against the perpetrators. Those involved were arrested. But we think there are more people involved. I have said that they should also be detained, and action should be taken under the NSA (National Securities Act). The dairy where the incident occurred should be destroyed. " Speaking to reporters, BJP MLA from Huzur assembly seat Rameshwar Sharma said, "There is already a strict law in the state against cow slaughter." A VHP member, Vishnu Sharma, claimed that a quintal of meat was recovered from the loading auto. "We demand strict action from the administration. The officials have assured us that illegal slaughterhouses will be demolished and strict action will be taken against the culprits," he added. SIT focuses on documenting
Mangaluru: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged Dharmasthala mass burial case is now focusing on documentation. "After the fieldwork, the team is now looking at documentation of the process," said a senior officer. It is also learnt that the complainant-witness appeared before the SIT on Monday as part of the inquiry. Meanwhile, Ganesha and Bharati of Kallagudde Mane, Melanthabettu in Belthangady, have alleged that their father Narayana and aunt Yamuna were murdered in 2012 in a plot to grab their ancestral property. According to the siblings, Narayana and Yamuna were staying in their ancestral house in Burje, and faced threats for some time. On the night of Sept 21, Narayana reportedly went to watch a drama held as part of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations and returned around 10pm. Next day, the house remained closed till about 12 noon, and neighbours found both Narayana and Yamuna murdered. "We approached the then SP, but there was no appropriate response," they claimed. The Mangaluru district unit of VHP organised a Sankalpa and Shiva Panchakshari chanting at Kadri Temple on Monday, in response to the alleged smear campaign in Dharmasthala. Prof MB Puranik from VHP said: "We will not tolerate the conspiracies and false propaganda against religious centres. So we have sought refuge in Lord Shiva, who will clear all the allegations..." VHP leader's death anniv passes off peacefully
Phulbani: The17th death anniversary of VHP leader Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati passed off peacefully in Kandhamal district amidst tightened security arrangements on Friday. While security was especially tightened around Saraswati's ashrams at Chakapada and Jalespeta, the entire district was placed under a security blanket as the VHP leader's assassination on August 23, 2008 led to large-scale violence that claimed 38 lives. Saraswati's death anniversary is observed according to the Hindu calendar, Jalespeta ashram head Swami Jeevan Muktananda Puri said. The monk and four of his associates were gunned downed while they were celebrating Janmashtami at Jalespeta ashram under Tumudibandh police station in the SP Harish BC said security was tightened across the district in view of Saraswati's death anniversary, which in previous years had sparked violence in the region. Apart from two ashrams, armed police were also deployed at vulnerable points, the SP said, adding that no report of any untoward incident was received from any place. Though it was claimed that Maoists were involved in the killing of Saraswati and his associates, the VHP continued to demand the arrest of the mastermind of the mass murder. "The State government is committed to arresting all culprits responsible for the killings," Kandhamal MP Sukant Panigrahi said. Meanwhile, Opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress criticised the BJP government in the State for not making public the report of the commission that probed the killing of the VHP leader. Soon after the BJP came to power in the State last year, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan assured that the inquiry commission report on the killing of Saraswati would be made public. Justice Sarat Chandra Mohapatra was appointed as the one-man commission to probe Saraswati's killing and the subsequent riots in 2008. However, he passed away in 2012 before completing the inquiry. Then, Justice A S Naidu was appointed to head the panel, which submitted its report in two volumes to the Home Secretary in December 2015.
