The report further stated that KSRTC has not taken any action to remove the illegal flags, festoons, banners, hoardings, or flex boards from its premises. Vasudevan specifically cited the condition of the KSRTC bus station in Ernakulam, which is flooded with flags and festoons of various political parties.
Additionally, the amicus curiae pointed out that although transport minister K B Ganesh Kumar had publicly welcomed HC's judgment banning illegal boards, banners, flags and festoons in public spaces, the order is yet to be implemented by the govt and its agencies.

KSRTC to build modern terminal at Karikkamuri with Rs 15-crore state funding
KOCHI: After scrapping the SmartCity-funded project that involved mutual handing over of lands, KSRTC is now set to construct a modern bus terminal exclusively for its use at Karikkamuri, behind the existing dilapidated bus station, using state government funds. 'Finance Minister K N Balagopal has promised J15-crore fund for the project and the administrative sanction will be issued soon. Also the KMRL has promised Rs five crore. There were no facilities under the earlier promised SmartCity project, which also provided for the entry of private buses there. The same is scrapped and no exchange of land will happen,' Transport Minister K B Ganesh Kumar told reporters here. He was speaking while inaugurating the new regional office building of the State Water Transport Department (SWTD) at Ernakulam boat jetty. Earlier it was proposed to build a new terminal, modelled on the Vyttila Mobility Hub, on 2.9 acres of land owned by KSRTC at Karikkamuri using J12 crore set aside under the SmartCity project. One of the conditions was that the land should be handed over to the Vyttila Mobility Hub Society and in turn equal land would be provided to KSRTC at Vyttila Hub. 'What we now plan is a steel structure so that the work could be carried out on a war footing. Also the land, where the existing bus station is located, will be leased out to reputed private companies to set up a shopping mall or five-star hotel, which will bring revenue to the corporation,' the minister explained.

Experts express concern over declining Kannada medium schools in Karnataka
BENGALURU: The All-Karnataka Unaided Private Educational Institutions Association has urged the State Government to take immediate steps to protect Kannada medium schools and relax strict regulations imposed on them. Association state president Revanasiddappa Jalade and state honorary president CN Bhan-dari said that thousands of Kannada schools have shut down in the last 9–10 years due to 'excessive government rules'. 'Rural students are losing access to affordable education in their mother tongue because the state is not filling teacher vacancies and not providing basic facilities,' said Jalade. The forum alleged that many private Kannada medium schools have become weak and unsustainable. 'Our mother tongue must survive, and so must Kannada schools. But government negligence is leading to their decline,' they said. The association submitted a petition to the CM and the Education Minister demanding measures, including subsidising private institutions set up after 1995, simplifying conditions for starting Kannada schools, easing permission renewal processes, re-implementing the RTE for private schools, filling vacancies in aided institutions, curbing unauthorised coaching centres, and halting the replacement of Kannada schools with English-medium Karnataka Public Scho-ols. 'Our demands are simple: appoint teachers, provide infrastr-ucture, and protect Kannada medium education,' they said. The association will protest at Freedom Park on August 19.

He emphasised that the devices would strengthen security in thousands of vulnerable polling centres. "We are aiming to procure the bodycams by October so police officers can receive adequate training on their key features, including AI capabilities," he said. In a letter sent to the Chief Election Commissioner on Wednesday, M. Siraj Uddin Mia, Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser, requested him to take necessary steps to organise free, fair, peaceful, and festive national elections of the expected quality at the specified time, the statement said. In his address to the nation on August 5, the July Uprising Day, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus said that he would write to the Election Commission to organise the elections before the start of Ramadan in February next year. In continuation of that, the Office of the Chief Adviser sent this letter on Wednesday. Referring to the address given to the nation, the letter says that the Chief Adviser, in his speech, called for the immediate commencement of all preparations and institutional arrangements in this regard. It is mentioned that the Chief Adviser has emphasised organising the upcoming elections in such a way that they will be remembered as a day of a great joyous voting festival, in the context of citizens not being able to vote in the past fifteen years. In his speech, the Chief Adviser mentioned his expectation that the election would be unforgettable in terms of joy and celebration, peace and order, voter turnout, and cordiality and sincerity. In addition to emphasising the importance of using appropriate technology in organising the elections, the Election Commission was also informed of the government's full cooperation in organising the expected fair, free, peaceful, and festive elections. Finally, the Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser requested that the necessary activities be taken to organise the national elections at the specified time based on the Chief Adviser's announcement, as per the statement.
