Flash floods after extreme weather hits Kent
Storms have caused significant flooding and disruption in Kent.
The extreme weather hit the county at around 22:00 BST on Friday, flooding homes and businesses in Dover.
Michael Ford, from Dover, told the BBC it was the "worst storm in years".
"I can't remember one that bad since I was a child and I am 43 now," he said, adding that it had been a "rough evening for some".
Kent Police shut the A256 in Tilmanstone, where one driver was seen sitting on the roof of their car after getting stuck in flood water.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service said it responded to flooding incidents in east Kent, including flooded properties on Folkestone Road and Maison Dieu Road in Dover.
Firefighters worked to clear properties of flood water and provide assistance to affected residents, alongside volunteers and partner agencies, the service added.
Stagecoach cancelled late-night bus services between Dover and Canterbury "due to severe flooding".
The Met Office had warned that thunderstorms were likely across parts of Kent and Sussex from Friday evening.
More than 30,000 lightning strikes were recorded overnight as powerful thunderstorms swept across the UK.
Heavy showers and thunderstorms were expected to ease slightly throughout Saturday, with the driest and brightest weather in the South East.

At least 13 people have been found dead and several more remain missing after heavy rains this week caused flooding on highways throughout San Antonio, Texas, authorities said Saturday. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office and the San Antonio Fire Department confirmed to CBS News on Saturday that the death toll had risen to 13. Officials said on Saturday that seven of the 13 confirmed dead have been identified and that their next of kin have been notified. Their ages range from 28 to 61. Storms Are Expected in Washington, D.C., on Saturday
There is a significant chance of rain across the Washington, D.C., area on Saturday, the National Weather Service said, and thunderstorms late in the afternoon or evening could coincide with events near the National Mall to mark the U.S. Army's 250th birthday. Thunderstorms can bring a variety of threats, including hail, lightning and damaging winds. Jeremy Geiger, a meteorologist at the Weather Service office that covers Baltimore and Washington, said the agency predicted up to an 80 percent chance of rain during the afternoon and evening. 'I think it's going to rain based on everything I'm seeing, but there is a small chance that it just misses parts of the District,' Mr. Geiger said on Saturday morning. Rainfall amounts are mostly likely to range from a half inch to 1.5 inches, but Mr. Geiger said there's a 'reasonable worst-case scenario' of 2 to 4 inches, possibly even up to 6 inches, if the capital falls within the bull's-eye of the heaviest thunderstorms.
