Sooraj Pancholi was put in the same jail cell as Ajmal Kasab: 'They kept me in the anda cell, treated my terribly'

Sooraj Pancholi
underwent a tough time when the police had arrested him in Jiah Khan's death case. While the investivation was on, he went through a tough time. The actor was acquitted in the case in 2023 due to lack of evidence.
Special Judge AS Sayyad noted that she was a victim of her own emotions and that Jiah had suicidal tendencies. Meanwhile, Sooraj made a comeback to the movies in the recently released 'Kesari Veer'.
In a recent interview, Pancholi opened up on his jail experience and what he went through. He said on Hindi Rush podcast, "It's all hazy. I was just a 21-year-old boy at the time. I was sent to Arthur Road Jail, and put in the 'anda cell' (solitary confinement).
I was in the same cell where they had put Kasab. They treated me like I'd done a bomb blast.' At this time, Sooraj was seemingly asked to stop talking by his representatives.
Looking at them off-camera, he said, 'Let me talk, it's the fact… It is what it is.'
He revealed that he was put in
Ajmal Kasab
's cell. "They put me where they put Kasab. I didn't even have a pillow; I'd sleep on newspapers. They treated me terribly, like I'd committed some horrible crime.
I'm not exaggerating. It was only after four or five years that I understood what I'd been through. It felt like a dream when it was happening. The CBI investigation happened… They kept me in the 'anda cell'. It was difficult," he said.
When Sooraj was acquitted by the court in the case, he took to social media and wrote, "The Truth always wins!' However, Jiah's mother continued to blame him for her daughter's death. She had told CNN News 18, "This is a case of murder. The abetment to suicide case has gone but the
murder case
is still there. I will not give up hope.. I will keep fighting. I will approach the High Court, Supreme Court, whatever is required to get justice for my daughter.'

SC refuses more time to Vinay Kulkarni in bail cancellation case, hearing tomorrow

New Delhi, June 5 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Thursday declined to grant a week to Karnataka MLA and former Minister Vinay Kulkarni to place certain documents on record in response to the state government's plea seeking cancellation of his bail in the murder case of BJP worker Yogesh Gowda. A bench comprising Justices Sanjay Karol and Satish Chandra Sharma allowed Kulkarni's counsels only one day to submit the documents, stating, 'It shall be open for the respondents to place on record any document either during the course of the day or hand over the same during the course of the hearing tomorrow.' Senior Advocate Maninder Singh, appearing for Kulkarni, had sought a week, citing the absence of certain documents on record that were before the trial court and arguing that the matter concerns his client's Article 21 rights (Fundamental Right to Life and Personal Liberty). He also referred to a related case involving other co-accused where the High Court has reserved orders on bail cancellation. 'We have not got any time in this. The other accused, whose cancellation is sought, the matter is reserved by the High Court... let that order also come. I'm not saying give me 4-6 weeks. Give me whatever reasonable time... if I don't get even a day to file a document... have it next week,' he urged. Opposing the request, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, appearing for the State of Karnataka, pointed to Kulkarni's previous conduct to argue against any further accommodation. Rejecting the extension plea, Justice Karol remarked, 'We are going to be very, very unreasonable and harsh on you. We are adjourning the matter by one day.' The Court accordingly listed the matter for hearing tomorrow. During the proceedings, the bench also took exception to the conduct of a counsel appearing for Kulkarni, who had sought accommodation the previous day, claiming he was on vacation and did not have his black coat, despite appearing before the Court wearing one. On being questioned, the counsel clarified that he had borrowed the coat. 'You put a senior counsel to great embarrassment yesterday... and you logged in thrice... it only speaks volumes about the counsel, forget about the clients... never do that in future. Don't embarrass anyone who we know are noble people in the profession,' Justice Karol stated. The Karnataka government has sought cancellation of Kulkarni's bail, citing allegations of witness tampering. Kulkarni was arrested in 2020 in connection with the murder of BJP leader Yogesh Gowda and was granted bail in 2021. UNI SNG SSP

R Madhavan Says Pee Scene In Shaitaan Made Him Uncomfortable: ‘Had To Make It Disgusting'

Last Updated: R Madhavan says he felt deeply uncomfortable filming the urination scene in Shaitaan and reveals how he used a blanket to avoid looking and change the tone. R. Madhavan, who chillingly portrayed the antagonist in the psychological horror hit Shaitaan, recently opened up about the emotional and psychological toll of certain intense scenes from the film. In a new promotional interaction with Kajol for her upcoming horror film Maa, Madhavan reflected on one particular moment that left him deeply unsettled on set. The conversation, shared by JioStudios on YouTube, saw Kajol asking Madhavan if there were any scenes in Shaitaan that felt too disturbing or realistic to perform. Madhavan candidly responded, referencing a scene in which his character forces his on-screen daughter to dance all night, resulting in her wetting herself out of sheer physical strain. 'It was a very sensitive scene," Madhavan said. 'There's this moment where I make my daughter dance through the night. She reaches a point where she can't hold it anymore and urinates. In the original version of the film, the approach to the scene was different. But here, I realized that even as a villain, if I looked at her during that moment, it would send out a completely different message. I needed the audience to feel disgust—not pity or justification." Madhavan explained how he changed his physical performance to reflect that discomfort. 'So, I wrapped myself in a blanket, deliberately avoiding looking at her. That decision not only worked for the character but gave me relief as an actor. I could step away emotionally while still staying true to the role. I simply tell the mother, 'Can you go help your daughter?'" He further added, 'There were many such moments during filming that made me deeply uncomfortable. But I had to find ways to stay authentic while protecting myself emotionally." Shaitaan, directed by Vikas Bahl, is the Hindi adaptation of the 2023 Gujarati film Vash. It stars Ajay Devgn, Jyotika, and Janki Bodiwala alongside Madhavan in a dark and sinister role. The film, which follows a family held hostage by a mysterious man who exerts mind control over their daughter, was both a critical and commercial success, grossing over ₹100 crore at the Indian box office. Madhavan's raw honesty adds another layer to a performance that was already haunting—showing how even seasoned actors have to wrestle with the moral and emotional weight of their roles, especially in films that tread psychological depths.
