Collision with moose kills driver and injures passenger near Alaska's Denali National Park

A driver was killed and a passenger in his car injured after hitting a moose near the entrance to Alaska's Denali National Park and Preserve.
The collision with the moose occurred around 1 a.m. Friday, just south of the entrance to the Denali Park Road near Mile 235 of the Parks Highway, the Anchorage Daily News reported, citing a statement from the park.
The 24-year-old male driver, who was from Bulgaria, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 24-year-old female passenger, who is from North Macedonia, was taken to a Fairbanks hospital.
The National Park Service is working with the Bulgarian Embassy to notify the driver's family.
"The collision serves as a sobering reminder of the hazards of wildlife along Alaska's roadways," the park said in its statement, urging drivers to slow down in dark conditions and use high-beam headlights.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say officers responded to a crash involving three commercial vehicles west of the Morrisburg off ramp, County Road 31, at approximately 10:20 a.m. Firefighters, police and paramedics responded to the collision. Two people suffered serious injuries, police say. One person was airlifted to an Ottawa trauma center by Air Orgne. Traffic was slowed in the area due to the highway closure east of Morrisburg, police say. Roads have since reopened. An investigation is ongoing. Centre Street North is closed at 12th Avenue N.W. after a crash late Friday afternoon between a vehicle and a motorcycle. A motorcyclist is dead following a vehicle collision in northwest Calgary. Friday's crash happened shortly before 4 p.m. at the intersection of 12th Avenue and Centre Street. It involved the motorcycle and another vehicle. Police say the motorcyclist was taken to hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead after he got there. In the aftermath of the crash, 12th Avenue was closed at Centre Street in both directions.
