OnePlus Ace 5 Ultra surfaces in Geekbench with a confusing chipset choice
Last week we heard that OnePlus is working on a third member of its Ace 5 family, following the already available Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro. Back then, this was rumored to use MediaTek's still-unannounced Dimensity 9400e SoC, which is the lower-bin of the 9400 family.
But now a new OnePlus device has surfaced in the Geekbench database, and this one is powered by the recently unveiled Dimensity 9400+, which is the higher-bin model of the 9400 family. And that's rather confusing, as it's rumored to be launching in China as the OnePlus Ace 5 Supreme Edition (such names usually get translated into English as "Ultra").

So we have an Ultra phone that's very close in its Geekbench scores to the OnePlus 10 Pro, but not quite there - as the Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. Anyway, the presence of the Dimensity 9400+ is certain given the 3.73 GHz frequency of its Prime core - that is in fact the one quantifiable improvement it has over the 'vanilla' 9400, which topped out at 3.63 GHz.
The prototype which ran the benchmark had 16GB of RAM, but of course OnePlus could choose to offer it with other memory amounts as well. Unsurprisingly, it runs Android 15. This phone is rumored to be released in China by the end of this month. Unfortunately, international availability isn't a given. We'll keep you posted.

The Realme GT series is home to some of the best value-for-money phones on the market and the latest generation is showing great promise. Is the GT 7 or the GT 7T the right phone for you? The Realme GT 7 has excellent build quality, a bright, colorful LTPO display, good stereo sound and a solid camera performance. The Dimensity 9400e chipset is pretty speedy, as is the 120W charging (you have to buy your own adapter, though). The 7,000mAh Si/C battery currently holds the top spot in our battery life chart by quite some margin. Realme GT 7 The Realme GT 7T makes some cutbacks to hit a lower price point. That means a non-LTPO display (otherwise it's a similar 6.8' OLED panel with 6,000 nits peak brightness), a mid-range Dimensity 8400 Max chipset and no telephoto camera. In short the 50MP main camera (1/1.56', OIS) produces good but not great photos day and night, the 50MP 2x telephoto camera (1/2.76', no OIS) is okay but it is held back by the short focal length. On the downside, the 8MP ultra-wide is a bit of a letdown (no 4K videos and no AF), the 32MP selfie camera could have been better too. Realme GT 7 and GT 7T at a glance The GT 7T has basically the same set of cameras, minus the telephoto module. The different chipset will have different processing too, of course. Note that the Realme GT 7 and GT 7T will receive 4 major OS updates and a total of six years of security patches. They launch with Realme UI 6 based on Android 15. They all have telephoto cameras – 50MP 2x for the Poco and OnePlus, 10MP 3x for the Galaxy. So, the GT 7T misses out on zooming in, but it still has strengths. The batteries of these phones are smaller, even the 13R with its 6,000mAh capacity is significantly behind. Also, their water resistance ratings aren't as good, the 13R only has IP65, which isn't great for a near flagship. Xiaomi Poco F7 Ultra • OnePlus 13R • Samsung Galaxy S25+ • Xiaomi Poco X7 Pro The Poco X7 Pro (Dimensity 8400 Ultra, €300) doesn't have a tele camera and its 50MP main has a small 1/1.95' sensor. It is cheap, though, and still had enough budget for an IP69 certification. The battery has 6,000mAh capacity in Europe and 6,550mAh in India, charging is 90W in both cases. With all that in mind, is the Realme GT 7 on the short list of phones to consider for your next upgrade? What about the Realme GT 7T, does its slightly lower price tag make it more appealing despite having certain downgrades?

Weekly poll results: Honor 400 Pro is promising, but it and the Honor 400 can use a price cut
Last week's poll shows that the Honor 400 Pro has hope of success, but the vanilla 400 just doesn't have the feature set to compete. The poll also shows that people are getting irritated by having global models that feel second rate compared to the ones available in China. The Honor 400 Pro has a good number of fans as it is and a positive review can make it even more desirable. It has already taken the first steps – its battery life is pretty good (if nothing stellar) and charge speed is a standout feature. But that's with only a 5,300mAh battery – we tested the European version. The rest of the world (sans China) gets a bigger 6,000mAh battery. And the Chinese model? That one has a whopping 7,200mAh capacity despite being smaller than the global model! The global 400 Pro has a 6.7' display, the Chinese one has a 6.55'. It's no wonder that people are getting irritated. The Honor 400 feels under-specced – good reviews can draw in some people, but the general conclusion is that you can get better hardware for the price with other models. If the global market got the Chinese model, we would be looking at the newer Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 (instead of 7 Gen 3) and a huge 7,200mAh battery (instead of 5,300/6,000mAh). That would have made the 400 a much easier sell. The MSRP of both the Honor 400 and 400 Pro is fairly high. That said, commenters from several regions have checked in saying that they got a great deal with lower prices and even some freebies – that, of course, changes the equation. Xiaomi to follow Apple's footsteps, change the name of its upcoming HyperOS 3
Back in late May, Mark Gurman reported that Apple might change the naming scheme of its operating systems. Instead of iOS 19, for example, the company will launch iOS 26, along with macOS 26, iPadOS 26, etc. The goal is to match the calendar year, avoid confusion, and make it easier to market. Reportedly, Xiaomi wants to do the same with its upcoming HyperOS based on Android 16, so instead of HyperOS 3 this year, we might get HyperOS 26. The system should arrive around October or November, and as we get closer to launch, we will probably know for sure. While this naming scheme is good for the user as it's easier to track the release timeline, it creates issues for the company. For instance, by naming its OS after the calendar year, Xiaomi would have to keep a strict release schedule and not fall behind. Source
