Home catches fire on Memorial Day in World Golf Village, no one injured, St. Johns firefighters say

No one was injured in a house fire that happened in the World Golf Village area on Monday night, St. Johns County Fire Rescue said.
SJCFR responded to the fire, which happened in the 100 block of Log Spring Way around 7 p.m.
Intense flames could be seen coming from the garage area in pictures that SJCFR posted to its Facebook page.

The fire also extended to the home's attic area.
Firefighters quickly attacked the fire with multiple hoses to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby homes.

Eventually, firefighters were able to successfully extinguish the fire.
Everyone who was inside the house was able to get out before firefighters arrived, SJCFR said.

Homes next door to the house that caught fire were minimally impacted.
The State Marshal's Office is currently investigating the cause of the fire. Further details will be released once the investigation is complete, SJCFR said.

Notes from the meteorologist: This morning's temperatures are near 80 degrees under partly cloudy skies. High temperatures will reach the mid-90s today with maximum feels-like temperatures of 102- 106°F. No heat alerts are in effect (that begins at 108F). The first half of the day will remain dry with spotty coverage of showers and an isolated storm developing by the early-middle afternoon. More substantial thunderstorms will sweep across southeast GA by the middle afternoon, pushing into northeast FL and weakening by the early evening. These storms could contain some damaging wind gusts in GA, along with heavy rains and frequent lightning. It is possible the storms dissipate altogether as they enter FL. More afternoon thunderstorms are expected amidst the hot and humid air each day over the next week. Tropics: No active storms in the Atlantic. Second inmate who escaped minimum security facility in Ohio arrested; 2 remain on the run

Two of the four inmates who escaped a minimum security facility in central Ohio two weeks ago have been arrested, according to our news partners in Columbus, WBNS-10 TV. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Online jail records in Franklin County show that Micahel Norton, 32, was arrested on Friday. As previously reported by News Center 7, Jeremy Bowen, 30, was the first inmate who was caught. He was arrested on May 24. Norton was one of four inmates who escaped the Franklin County Community-Based Correctional Facility in Columbus on May 22 by smashing through a window. TRENDING STORIES: Area man accused of dealing drugs that resulted in death Former Bengals player arrested for assault of an officer, public intoxication New steakhouse opens in downtown Dayton Two other inmates, Mark Long and Nikko Burton, are still on the run. All four have been charged with escape, and warrants are still out for Long and Burton. WBNS reported that the facility serves as a residential prison diversion program for adult male offenders. Bowen, Burton, and Norton were all in the facility to complete the program for a parole violation. Long was completing the program for a felony theft charge. The facility is operated by its own appointed board and the Franklin County court system, and it is accredited by the American Correctional Association.
