Newly formed IVP removes councillor over cross-voting

's move to remove a councillor for "anti-party activities", Indraprastha Vikas Party (IVP) also took a similar action against one of its members. The party announced on Friday that Ashok Pandey, a councillor representing Vikas Nagar ward, was removed from the party for six years due to cross-voting during the ward committee elections in
Municipal Corporation of Delhi

IVP contested for the chairman's post in two zones, West and Rohini, but lost in both. It even had a majority in Rohini zone with BJP's support. Sources said Pandey, who contested for the chairman's seat in West zone, did not vote for himself.
Party functionary Hemchand Goyal indicated in a statement that its councillors were working to resume development projects halted in various wards. He emphasised that the party would not accept any action by any member or municipal councillor that interferes with these development initiatives.
"This decision was taken unanimously in a meeting after it was confirmed that Pandey was working against the policies of the party in the past few days. The policies of our party are clear that if any other party talks about any scheme for the welfare of the people of Delhi and development of Delhi, we will support it," Goyal pointed out. "In the last two and a half years, the condition of works related to MCD had deteriorated.

On June 9, BJP expelled Suman Tinku Rajora, a councillor from Mangolpuri-B, for six years over alleged anti-party activities during a vote in Rohini zone on June 2.

Gujarat Health Minister Rishikesh Patel earlier on Sunday said the state government will facilitate all the arrangements after the family decides on the funeral proceedings. "Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel and Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi visited late Vijaybhai Rupani ji's residence today and told the family members that his DNA has been confirmed. His family will take call on last rites and final stage preparations for cremation. After consultation with them, all arrangements will be done," Rishikesh Patel said.
