DGAQA accords flight clearance to LCA Tejas Mk1A from HAL's Nashik division

New Delhi, Aug 11 (UNI) The Directorate General of Aeronautical Quality Assurance (DGAQA) has accorded flight clearance to the indigenously-manufactured Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas from the Nashik division of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), marking a significant milestone in de-centralising aircraft production and expanding India's strategic aerospace capabilities.
The Flight Clearance Document was handed over to Executive Director, HAL Nashik Division by ADG, AQA.
Nashik, renowned for its legacy in manufacturing and sustaining fighter fleets, has now evolved into a key hub for indigenous aircraft production.
Hosting the third LCA production line outside Bengaluru, this de-centralised set-up enhances operational flexibility and aligns with India's broader defence preparedness and strategic autonomy goals.
OADG Nashik played a pivotal role in the successful absorption of Transfer of Technology for LCA manufacturing. The office led the redesign and modification of tools and fixtures, transformed legacy work centres, and facilitated a cultural & technical shift in aerospace philosophies.
Upholding stringent quality assurance standards, the team ensured the production of over 5,000 high-precision components, in-house loom manufacturing, Line Replacement Units testing, and exhaustive pre-installation and assembly checks.
Round-the-clock support was extended to mission-critical operations including Right-First-Time ground runs, snag rectification, and final system readiness, culminating in the successful flight clearance.

Chennai, Aug 14 (UNI) Amid growing concerns over US tariffs and in the midst of significant shifts in global trade flows, the Government of Tamil Nadu, accounts for nearly 31% of its exports to the United States as against India's overall exports of around 20%, held a meeting the exporters from key sectors like textiles, automobiles, gems and jewellery, heavy engineering, electronics, among others. The meeting held at Guidance Tamil Nadu and chaired by Industries Minister Dr TRB Raaja, was aimed at reinforcing its commitment to the Industry to ensure Tamil Nadu, as India's export engine, remains strong and future-ready. In the meeting, the State Government also assured them that it would strive hard to ensure the interests of the primary and the secondary sectors were protected and safeguarded from any and all external impacts. In a statement on X, Dr Rajaa said under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister M K Stalin, the government has built a track record of regularly interacting with industry to enable ease of doing business and work with them to tackle any global headwinds. "Today's meeting at @Guidance_TN with exporters from key sectors like textiles, automobiles, gems & jewellery, heavy engineering, electronics, and more, was a reaffirmation of that approach", he said. The Minister said "in the midst of significant shifts in global trade flows, it is imperative for us to listen directly to our exporters, understand the hurdles in their paths and calibrate our policy response to safeguard their competitiveness". Dr Rajaa said Tamil Nadu accounts for nearly 31% of its exports to the United States while India's overall exports to the US stands at around 20% only. "While we look to the Union Government to chart national trade policy that cushions our exporters from severe shocks – and we stand shoulder to shoulder with them in that endeavour – our responsibility as one of India's largest exporter state is to act quickly, decisively, and in close coordination with industry, he added. "We are also taking this as an opportunity to identify structural fixes that will serve our exporters for the long term. We are determined to ensure Tamil Nadu, as India's export engine, remains strong and future-ready. "We have more such consultations lined up in the coming days and we will of course seek the help of our Honourable CM", the Minister said. "With the resilience of our people and the State's unwavering commitment, Tamil Nadu will continue to move to its next phase of export growth", he said, boosting the confidence of the exporters. West Mumbai, Aug 14 (UNI) The Mumbai police's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) registered an FIR against the Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra and her husband, Raj Kundra, for allegedly cheating a Juhu-based businessman of Rs 60.48 crore under the pretext of a business investment. The FIR was first registered at Juhu police station, which is based on a complaint by Deepak Kothari (60), director of Lotus Capital Financial Services. Kothari alleged that between 2015 and 2023, he transferred Rs 60.48 crore to the couple's company, Best Deal TV Pvt. Ltd, for business expansion. However, the funds were allegedly diverted for personal expenses. The investigation of the matter was handed over to EOW, as the sum involved in the crime is above Rs 10 crores. After conducting a preliminary inquiry, EOW registered the case under IPC sections 403 (dishonest misappropriation of property), 406 (criminal breach of trust), and 34 (common intention) against Shetty, Kundra, and another person. BPCL Q1 net jumps 141 pc to Rs 6,839 crore, records all-time high sales

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 14 (UNI) Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 6,839.02 crore for the first quarter of FY 2025-26, a sharp 140.64 percent jump from Rs 2,841.55 crore in the same period last year. On a standalone basis, the company posted a net profit of Rs 6,123.93 crore, up from Rs 3,014.77 crore in Q1 of FY 2024-25, a release said. BPCL attributed the robust performance to strong refinery throughput, improved marketing margins, solid sales growth, and operational efficiency. The company registered a Gross Refining Margin (GRM) of USD 4.88 per barrel in the current quarter, compared to USD 7.86 per barrel in Q1 of FY 2024-25. In Q1 FY 2025-26, BPCL achieved a throughput of 10.42 million metric tonnes (MMT) with a capacity utilisation of 118 percent, against 10.11 MMT in the corresponding quarter last year. The corporation also recorded its highest-ever quarterly domestic market sales at 13.58 MMT, compared to 13.16 MMT in Q1 of FY 2024-25, marking a sales growth of 3.19%. UNI DS SS
