Sixers star Tyrese Maxey explains tweet firing back at smack talkers

USA Today3 days ago
Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey has had a long offseason when considering the Sixers did not make the playoffs following a 24-58 season. That has given Maxey a lot of time to reflect, work on his game, and also take some time to read what the great people on Twitter have to say.
Maxey had a tweet recently that went viral as he had a message for those on Twitter talking a lot of trash about him or the Sixers, in general. Essentially, he said he sees what people are saying and he is taking everything to heart.
In an interview with ClutchPoints, Maxey explained why he posted the tweet:
'Yeah, that wasn't even for me personally. That was just in general. I mean, I had a lot of time on my hands, sadly, because we lost early. I just got a chance to really read people's tweets, not just that pertain to me, just pertain to everybody in the world. It's just like, 'man, people are really getting stuff off their chest.' Hey, I get it. Get it off, man. I'm not mad at it at all. Hey, if you've got something to say, speak it. That's the world that we live in. That's why we live in America.'
Maxey is somebody who doesn't need much motivation as he continues through his career. The Sixers will be looking for him to lead the way in the 2025-26 season and get them back on track to winning their first title since 1983.

NBA insider reveals Warriors star Stephen Curry's ‘cred in the hood of Oakland'

The post NBA insider reveals Warriors star Stephen Curry's 'cred in the hood of Oakland' appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Golden State Warriors are trying to do whatever they can to wring something out of the final years of Stephen Curry's career. Unfortunately, that has amounted to pretty much nothing so far this offseason, as Golden State seems poised to run back essentially the same roster that exited the second round a season ago. Trading Curry has never seemed to be a remote possibility for the Warriors, as the star has long made known his desire to spend his entire career in the Bay. Recently, NBA insider Marc J. Spears gave an example of just how much Curry has been embraced by the community over his career. 'Steph united the Bay, he got old ladies loving basketball that didn't even watch basketball wearing 30 jerseys,' reported Spears, via The OGs podcast, per HoopsHype. 'And you couldn't go into a restaurant in the Bay and expect somebody to eat food there on a Warriors night unless you had a TV on,' he added. 'So there was a restaurant I like and they had Curry effect on the wall. They did not want a TV, but nobody came to watch have dinner there unless on Warriors game nights unless you had a TV. And so they put a TV in there. So like Steph's influence on the Bay that's crazy is incredible. He got cred in the hood of Oakland.' While the Curry family has drawn criticism for their opposition to low-income housing being built near their home in Atherton, it appears Steph has no problem stepping out into less guarded areas away from his own property. Can the Warriors compete? It's worth wondering what the Warriors would have been able to do had Curry stayed healthy in the team's loss to the Timberwolves last year in the second round. However, even if they had gotten past that series, it's hard to envision this iteration of the Warriors having enough talent or depth to compete with the Oklahoma City Thunder, who went on to win the NBA championship last season. At this point, it looks like the Warriors will be banking heavily on Curry and Jimmy Butler to carry them once again next season. Bulls rumors: Josh Giddey's ‘expected' contract compromise after long standoff

The post Bulls rumors: Josh Giddey's 'expected' contract compromise after long standoff appeared first on ClutchPoints. Josh Giddey's contract talks with the Chicago Bulls is one of the longest ongoing standoffs of this offseason. Giddey, along with fellow restricted free agents Quentin Grimes and Jonathan Kuminga, wanted bigger deals this offseason. However, Bulls general manager Marc Eversley has not met the point guard's demands. However, a compromise could be on the horizon. While Giddey wanted a large deal, he and is agent could not find another team willing to give him a competitive offer. That, combined with the lack of cap space remaining around the league, stacked the odds against him. According to ClutchPoints NBA Insider Brett Siegel, Giddey and the Bulls appear to be on the verge of a new deal. 'Josh Giddey and the Chicago Bulls are expected to reach a resolution on a new contract, likely in the three-year range, by the end of August,' Siegel said. 'The Bulls could increase their offer, but they have stood firm on keeping a new deal in the $20 million AAV range. The latest speculation from agents not involved in negotiations suggests something in the $65 million to $70 million range.' Giddey's request is ambitious, as were the ones Kuminga and Grimes made. Their teams have the money to sign each player to long term deals. However, their unwillingness to do so has dragged out the process over months. In Giddey's case, though, the player can argue their importance to their team's future. The Bulls traded for the Australian point guard last summer, giving the Oklahoma City Thunder Alex Caruso in exchange. Giddey did better during the second half of the regular season once he got comfortable as the team's lead ball handler. However, questions arose about whether or not the Bulls could trust his late season production. One way or another, the standoff will end before the regular season begins. Neither side will walk away from the deal completely happy. However, it gives Giddey a couple of seasons to prove to Eversley that he is worthy of the large payday he wants. Warriors rumors: The 2 reasons Jonathan Kuminga is declining $45 million contract offer

The post Warriors rumors: The 2 reasons Jonathan Kuminga is declining $45 million contract offer appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Jonathan Kuminga standstill has left the Golden State Warriors unable to make necessary roster changes this offseason. Although the Warriors have expressed interest in retaining the 22-year-old restricted free agent, ongoing problems regarding Kuminga's resistance to returning and his demands on a potential new contract have left the two sides far apart in negotiations this free agency period. To this point, the Warriors have made a handful of offers to Kuminga and his representation. The most recent proposal was a short-term deal in the ballpark of $20 million and $23 million in annual average value, league sources told ClutchPoints recently. This report was confirmed by Shams Charania and Anthony Slater of ESPN on Wednesday, citing that the Warriors offered a two-year, $45 million contract. However, this contract proposal included a team option for the 2026-27 season, and the language of this proposal outlined that Kuminga would need to waive the built-in no-trade clause. He would receive this no-trade clause as a result of the deal being a one-plus-one contract. Kuminga declined this offer because of the leverage it would give Golden State to control his immediate future. Ultimately, negotiations between Kuminga and the Warriors come down to whether he truly wants to stay with Golden State. So far, all indications this offseason point in the direction of Kuminga wanting a fresh start where he can earn starter-like minutes and have a chance to expand on star-like qualities he has shown flashes of during his tenure with the Dubs. Next to Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green, Kuminga's overall value is limited. That is why he and his representation have explored multiple sign-and-trade avenues to try and find a new home this offseason. Jonathan Kuminga's decision to decline Warriors While there are teams interested in Kuminga, including the Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns, there isn't much of a market with the calendar about to flip to August. Not to mention, the Warriors have not shown any interest in the assets both the Kings and Suns could offer in potential sign-and-trade scenarios. Golden State holds all the leverage in these sign-and-trade negotiations, as neither team can sign Kuminga to an offer sheet given their cap situations. The only way they could acquire him is with the Warriors' help, which is why Mike Dunleavy Jr. and the Dubs' front office can hold firm on their asking price. At this point, Kuminga's options are clear. The first option is accepting the Warriors' two-year, $45 million contract proposal, where he will earn just under $22 million for the 2025-26 season. This is the most money Kuminga has seen in an offer for the first year of a new contract this offseason. But the problem with this proposal from Golden State is the team option and the notion that he would need to waive his implicit no-trade clause. It is believed that the Warriors will not adjust this offer. There is then the option of accepting his $7.9 million qualifying offer to stay with the Warriors. The problem here is that Kumings would essentially lock himself in with the Dubs for the 2025-26 season, he would have a no-trade clause, and this relationship would become even more toxic than it already is. Essentially, the Warriors would have no reason to play Kuminga, and he would accept significantly less money for the whole year in hopes of earning a much larger contract as an unrestricted free agent in 2026. Time will tell what the future holds for the Warriors and Kuminga, as this battle of contract proposals lingers on with no clear finish line in sight.
