Jack Harrison stepped onto the pitch and into the storm. As the announcer in Stockholm read out his name over the tannoy, the returning winger, a member of the fabled 2020 promotion side, was met with a wall of boos from the travelling Leeds fans.
On a day where Daniel Farke confirmed that Patrick Bamford wasn't a part of his plans for the , the Leeds boss then made a point of insisting that Harrison had the chance to win back the fans, citing the examples of his team-mates like Brenden Aaronson and Wilfried Gnonto who had both been strongly linked with moves away in the past.

Nottingham Forest agree deals for James McAtee and Omari Hutchinson

Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal worth up to £30million with Manchester City for England Under-21 captain James McAtee. The PA news agency understands the arrangement includes a sell-on fee and City will have a buy-back option on the 22-year-old. The midfielder has come through the youth set-up at the Etihad Stadium but has not been a first-team regular under Pep Guardiola. He made 15 Premier League appearances last season but only three starts, with most of his senior experience coming during two successful loan spells with Sheffield United. He opted not to travel to the United States for the Club World Cup in the summer in order to concentrate on the European Under-21 Championship, a decision which was vindicated as he led England to victory. Forest have also agreed a deal believed to be around £37million for Ipswich forward Omari Hutchinson, PA understands. The move, which would be Forest's club-record transfer, is still to be finalised but Forest are hoping it will go ahead. Hutchinson, who was also part of England's Under-21s success, played 32 times for the Tractor Boys as they were relegated to the Championship, scoring three goals and getting two assists. With players needing to be registered by 12pm on Friday to be involved in the weekend action, and neither having a medical booked in as of Thursday night, they are not expected to be at the club in time to feature in Sunday's Premier League opener against Brentford. Forest have signed Switzerland international Dan Ndoye, Botafoga pair Igor Jesus and Jair Cunha while also tying captain Morgan Gibbs-White down to a long-term contract amid alleged unsolicited interest from Tottenham.

Nottingham Forest working on potential club-record Omari Hutchinson deal

Nottingham Forest are pushing to sign Omari Hutchinson in a potential club-record deal worth about £37m. Forest, who are also closing on a £30m move for James McAtee from Manchester City, are confident of beating rivals to the signing of the Ipswich winger. Hutchinson expressed his desire to return to the Premier League to the Ipswich manager, Kieran McKenna, after relegation last season and has not featured this campaign. A release clause of about £35m is thought to have lapsed. Sign up to Football Daily Kick off your evenings with the Guardian's take on the world of football after newsletter promotion Forest and Brentford have had bids for Hutchinson rejected but the former are now optimistic about adding the 21-year-old, who has also been the subject of interest from Everton, to their squad. Forest made Dan Ndoye their record buy last month by signing the Switzerland winger from Bologna for £35m to replace Anthony Elanga, who joined Newcastle in a £55m deal, but are ready to eclipse that fee. Forest are also pursuing deals for Douglas Luiz, who is keen to return to the Premier League from Juventus, the Rennes striker Arnaud Kalimuendo and McAtee, with the England Under-21s midfielder poised for a medical in the coming days. Forest are among the clubs to have tracked Southampton's Mateus Fernandes but the Championship club want about £40m for the Portuguese midfielder. Chelsea are poised to profit from Hutchinson moving on, after they inserted a clause in the £20m deal that took him to Ipswich last year entitling them to 25% of any profit from a future sale. Hutchinson, who returned to his boyhood club, Chelsea, from Arsenal in 2022, was one of Ipswich's best performers last season but scored only three top-flight goals.

Roma make £20m offer for Manchester United's Jadon Sancho

Roma have made an offer worth in the region of £20million for Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho. The 25-year-old has failed to live up to expectations since making his hotly anticipated £73m switch from Borussia Dortmund to Old Trafford in 2021. Sancho has made just 83 appearances and scored 12 goals since making the move to United, who are hoping to get him off the books this summer. There have been recent whispers of a move to Serie A and it is understood Roma have made a bid to sign the England international, whose contract runs until next summer with an option for a further year. Sancho last appeared for United in the Community Shield last season, when his penalty was saved in the shoot-out loss to his former club Manchester City. The winger had returned having ended the 2023-24 campaign on loan back at Dortmund after being frozen out for claiming on social media that he had been made a 'scapegoat'. Those comments in September 2023 were in response to then United manager Erik ten Hag saying he had not reached the 'level' required to be involved in their squad at Arsenal. Sancho returned for last year's pre-season at United but went on to join Chelsea on a season-long loan, only for the west London outfit to pay £5m to get out of their deal to make the move permanent for £25m. The Manchester City youth graduate does not have a number at United and is one of a quintet of players that have did not train with Ruben Amorim's side during pre-season as they seek a move elsewhere. Homegrown forward Marcus Rashford was among them and last month sealed a season-long switch to Barcelona with the option to make the move permanent. United want £50m for Chelsea target Alejandro Garnacho, while exits have also yet to be secured for Antony and Tyrell Malacia following loans at Real Betis and PSV respectively.
