12-year-old girl was sexually assaulted outside Charlotte Target: Police
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A 12-year-old says she was sexually assaulted outside of an east Charlotte Target store, according to police.
According to a report from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the incident occurred just after 1 p.m. at the big-box store at 8830 Albemarle Road. A 12-year-old girl told police a subject used their open hand to make 'unwanted physical contact.'

She was not injured, and the suspect is not known to the victim.
The allegations fall under child sexual assault and battery. Police have not provided information on a suspect.

A total of eight gunshots were heard, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office report. As deputies searched the area for the vehicle involved, they found a vehicle matching the description in the 14000 block of Chamberlin Road. Officers found evidence inside the vehicle that was "consistent with involvement in the incident." The vehicle's owner was questioned and released. The motive for the shooting is not known by officers. No property damage was reported as a result of the incident. The sheriff's office is still investigating and asks that anyone with information regarding the gunshots contact Deputy Austin Graham at 734-240-7758. FBI charges man with helping to plan Palm Springs fertility clinic bombing
The FBI has charged a man with helping to bomb a Southern California fertility clinic last month, an attack authorities have described as terrorism. Daniel Park, 32, of Washington state, was arrested Tuesday night at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, U.S. attorney for central California Bill Essayli said Wednesday at a news conference. Park was charged with providing material support to a terrorist, accused of supplying 270 pounds of ammonium nitrate, an explosive precursor commonly used in homemade bombs, to 25-year-old Guy Edward Bartkus, Essayli added.

Hundreds of tickets written to Colorado drivers with expired license plates
CBS Colorado is learning more about the one-month license plate enforcement period conducted across the state. Eight law enforcement agencies in Colorado, including three across the Denver metro area, ticketed anyone they saw driving with expired license plates. The agencies include the Denver Police Department, the Aurora Police Department, and the Colorado State Patrol Commerce City division. CBS The enforcement period lasted from April 20 through May 20. During this time, Denver police issued 656 registration violations, 276 driver's license violations, one impounded vehicle, 47 in-custody arrests, 180 warnings and one parking violation. Aurora police wrote 378 registration violation tickets during that time frame. Colorado State Patrol is still narrowing down its enforcement data, but has written more than 10,000 tickets from Jan. 1 through May 20. Troopers with Colorado State Patrol say if you wait too long, the DMV could kick your vehicle out of the system. "The longer you wait, the more problematic it is because the fees will increase," said Colorado State Trooper Rey Avila. "After a year, the license plate is no longer valid. Your vehicle is unregistered, so that license plate will not be good anymore. When you do go to register it again, you have to pay for new plates, new registration, and potentially face some fees for not paying it the year before." CBS The law enforcement agencies involved say even though the enforcement was scheduled to end May 20, they will still be ticketing anyone with expired license plates. The agencies suggest going to the DMV, setting up an appointment and getting it handled before your 30-day grace period is up.
