CMPD: Two homicide investigations underway in north Charlotte
CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Two people were killed in separate overnight shootings in north Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. Shortly after midnight on Saturday, officers responded to the 9300 block of Broken Pine Lane about an assault with a deadly weapon with injuries. When they arrived, they found someone with a gunshot wound who was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. Less than two hours later, and about nine miles south, officers responded to the intersection of North Graham Street and Craighead Road about another assault with a deadly weapon with injuries. When they arrived at the scene, they found the victim in a vehicle with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead. Suspect gunned down after reportedly shooting a Monroe police officer Police have not released any more details on either homicide or whether they are connected. Detectives investigate north Charlotte homicide
Homicide detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department were called to a deadly shooting investigation early Saturday morning. The assault with a deadly weapon call was reported at about 2 a.m. at the intersection of North Graham Street and Craighead Road. Officers found the victim with a gunshot wound in a vehicle and they were pronounced dead at the scene. No additional details have been made available. This is a developing story. Charlotte mother charged in ‘Julio' the French Bulldog's disappearance
CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A mother has been arrested in connection with the theft of a bulldog, according to court records. Kendra Hunter, 37, was booked into the Mecklenburg County Detention Center on May 14 and charged with Felony Possesion of Stolen Goods. On Sunday, April 6, Charlotte Mecklenburg Police officers were called to the 3000 block of Barrow Road for a stolen vehicle. Inside the car was the victim's black French bulldog, Julio, who was also taken. The stolen car was found on April 11, and a juvenile is now facing charges. Other juveniles are being questioned about the incident; however, the dog remains missing. $5K Reward: 'Julio' the French Bulldog still missing after Charlotte car theft, teen arrested Court documents say that the dog's owner contacted investigators on May 1 to say that she was called by Hunter about the dog. It was communicated that the dog 'may be with someone's uncle who breeds Fenchie bulldogs'. Authorities later confirmed that Hunter was the woman seen in a picture with Julio, identifying her by a tattoo and her orange and purple nails. Investigators also reviewed Hunter's teenage son's cell phone, finding a photo of Julio that was taken at their home less than a day after the dog was stolen. Hunter is being charged with a felony since the dog is worth $5,000. Officials have not confirmed if Hunter's son was the juvenile arrested. 12-year-old girl was sexually assaulted outside Charlotte Target: Police
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A 12-year-old says she was sexually assaulted outside of an east Charlotte Target store, according to police. According to a report from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the incident occurred just after 1 p.m. at the big-box store at 8830 Albemarle Road. A 12-year-old girl told police a subject used their open hand to make 'unwanted physical contact.' Huntersville man charged with child solicitation; reportedly caught by officer posing as young teen: Police
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. () — A Huntersville man is accused of trying to meet a 13-year-old girl for sexual acts, not knowing an undercover officer was posing as the girl. Huntersville Police say one of their officers went on chat rooms known for exploiting children and posed as a 13-year-old girl. This led to the officer talking with someone with the username LuvsYgrGrl. The conversation then moved to text with the suspect using a Google Voice number. However, he was later identified as 43-year-old Jonathan Lee Case. Indian Trail woman arrested, charged with locking boyfriend in Monroe storage unit for days: Records Over six months, Case reportedly sent many explicit and inappropriate messages to the person he thought was a child, asking to meet for sexual acts. This also included him claiming he was sexually abusing his niece, but he has not been charged with that offense. After some time, Case and the undercover officer agreed to meet for illegal sexual activity at a shopping center on Sam Furr Road the morning of Friday, Feb. 21. He was later arrested that day by Charlotte Mecklenburg Police just north of Uptown Charlotte. and charged with Solicitation of a Minor by Computer/Electronic Device. Case was released from jail just after midnight on Friday, Feb. 28, after posting a $30,000 secured bond. His next court appearance is on Tuesday, March 11. This investigation is still ongoing.
