BoM heist: 13 arrested, over 3kg gold recovered, insider job suspected
The investigation revealed that the robbery was facilitated by insiders — Abhishek Gupta, a bank-deputed gold-checker, along with Ramesh Jha, a loan agent — who have been apprehended for intentionally inflating the value of gold and providing information to the criminals, police said.
Seven unknown criminals had robbed the bank branch of Rs 15 lakh cash and 9.75kg gold ornaments. A case was filed under Section 310(2) of BNS and Section 27 of Arms Act at Town police station.
According to a release, two accused — Deepak Kumar, a resident of Samastipur, and Karamveer Kumar from Vaishali — were identified on a CCTV camera within 24 hours. "Among those arrested, one Ravish Kumar, who financially supported the crime, was nabbed, while trying to escape from Ghaziabad. Karamveer was later arrested from Munger. He, along with Ravish, had previously planned to rob a jewellery shop in Samastipur on February 24.
Based on the information provided by the arrested duo, one Bittu Kumar was arrested from Bidupur police station area with 600 grams of gold ornaments. Further three more people — Deepak, Anuradha Devi and Fulparri Devi — were arrested with 447 grams of gold jewellery. Later, one Akhilesh Rai and his wife Savita Devi were arrested from Ghaziabad. Based on their information, one Harish Chandra Rai was arrested with 1.6 kg gold ornament," read the release.
All the arrested individuals have extensive criminal histories, including dacoity, Arms Act violations and robbery, across Bihar and a few in West Bengal.

Minor held with MD drugs worth over Rs 1.25 lakh in Indore
INDORE: Acting on the zero-tolerance policy against drugs, Khajrana police arrested a minor with over 12.5 grams of MD drugs valued at more than Rs 1.25 lakh. The minor was nabbed during a patrolling operation in Scheme No. 134 near Sahil Grand building. On spotting the police, the accused tried to flee but was quickly surrounded and caught. A search led to the recovery of the banned synthetic drug from his possession. During preliminary questioning, the minor confessed to being addicted to drugs and said he had been buying the substance at lower prices and selling it at higher rates to fund his addiction and make quick money. The police have registered a case under the NDPS Act, crime number 558/25, and taken the minor into custody for further investigation. Officials said they are now probing the supply chain and network linked to the juvenile and have obtained a police remand for further interrogation. More arrests are likely based on the information extracted from the minor. This action is part of a sustained crackdown on illegal narcotics in the city, said Additional DCP Amrendra Singh. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Khajrana police station in-charge Manoj Singh Sendhav.

Lucknow shocker: Man swept into open drain; body found after 27 hours, Rs 5L aid for family
LUCKNOW: A day after 32-year-old Suresh Lodhi was swept away in an overflowing drain in Thakurganj, his body was recovered near the Cattle Colony on Sunday morning. Police have sent the body for post-mortem. The discovery came after around 27 hours of intense search operations led by SDRF, police, and Suez India, which began shortly after the tragic incident on Saturday around 7am. Suresh, a paan shop owner and father of three, had slipped into the open drain after stepping on a broken slab while on his way to work amid heavy rainfall. The incident had sparked public outrage as locals alleged gross negligence by civic authorities. Residents blocked roads and protested delayed response by emergency services. According to Suresh's wife, the family had repeatedly complained about the broken slab but received no action. Taking cognizance, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to extend financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the bereaved family from the CM Relief Fund. Senior leaders including Dinesh Sharma, MLA Neeraj Bora, and Lucknow DM Vishak G are scheduled to visit the family.

‘Main conspirators' of Rs 100 crore Bokaro land scam arrested in Jharkhand
Jharkhand's Crime Investigation Department Saturday arrested two prime accused in an alleged Rs 100 crore Bokaro forest and revenue land scam that involved selling acres of government land using forged documents. The suspects have been identified as Izhar Hussain and Akhtar Hussain, who have been accused of illegally selling 103 acres of forest and revenue land in Bokaro in 2012. They have been sent to judicial custody. According to senior officials, this is the first time that the 'main conspirators' were arrested. 'Yes, they are the ones who allegedly created all the fake documents on the basis of which the land was supposed to be transferred to them,' Jharkhand DGP Anurag Gupta said confirming the arrests. 'This is quite an old issue, but for the first time, the people behind it have been arrested.' According to the CID, the two suspects had made the land over to their names illegally in 2012, but the mutation was cancelled in 2016. In 2018, the Jharkhand High Court stayed the DC's cancellation order but directed the parties to approach a civil court for a title suit. Meanwhile, Izhar and Akhtar 'fraudulently' got the land removed from the restricted land list, then the allegedly created a fake auction document dated 1933 and transferred the land's power of attorney to Patna businessman, who eventually 'sold' it to a company in which his wife is the director. Investigations allegedly revealed that a fake 1933 auction document and No Objection Certificates (NOCs) were allegedly used in the transaction. According to officials, two companies were involved in the alleged deal and that the land changed hands days after the money was transferred to the seller's account. An FIR was lodged in the case in 2024. Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate, which is also probing the alleged scam, conducted searches at 16 locations across Jharkhand and Bihar in April. Among the places raided were some government offices as well as the premises of one of the two companies. The ED's 2022 probe had allegedly revealed that the forest land in Tetulia was wrongly recorded as barren land in 2013 and that fraudulent sales were executed based on that.
