An Auburn Tigers fan favorite at wide receiver is continuing his football career. This week Seth Williams signed with the DC Defenders of the UFL. The UFL is in week eight of their second season this week with a game on Sunday versus the Arlington Renegades in a pivotal XFL Conference matchup. Williams will be catching passes from a former SEC quarterback in Jordan Ta'amu who spent his college career with Ole Miss.
Williams last played for Auburn during the 2020 season where he caught 47 passes for 760 yards and four touchdowns. He left the Tigers after his junior season to head to the NFL. Williams had his best year for the Tigers in 2021 when he became the top target for Bo Nix. He led the team with 59 receptions for 830 yards and eight touchdowns. Williams ended his career with 132 receptions for 2,134 yards and 17 touchdowns. He ranks fourth all-time at Auburn in receiving yards and tied for third in touchdowns.
He was drafted in the sixth round by the Denver Broncos with the 219th overall pick. He was waived by the Broncos before the start of the season, but Williams was signed to the team's practice squad. In a week 17 game versus the Chargers, Williams caught he first and only reception in the NFL. He had one catch for 34 yards. Williams then would spend time on the practice squads for the Jacksonville Jaguars (2022-23) and the Dallas Cowboys (2024).
Entering the weekend the Defenders were tied for the lead in the XFL Conference with a 5-2 record. The top two teams in each conference will reach the UFL Playoffs. The other conference is the USFL and is led by the Birmingham Stallions and Michigan Panthers. When the Defenders play the Renegades, Williams will not be the only former Tiger on the field catching passes. Former Auburn tight end Sal Cannella leads the team with 30 receptions and 299 yards. He has scored one touchdown this season. Cannella played for Auburn from 2017 to 2019.
The game between the Defenders and the Renegades (3-4 record) can be seen on Sunday at 11 a.m. Central on ABC or ESPN+. It should be a fun watch for any Auburn fan looking to see some former Tigers still living their dreams of playing professional football.

The Tigers have bonafide studs in senior Antonio Williams, plus young sensations Bryant Wesco and T.J. Moore at the position. The defense is anchored up front by linemen T.J. Parker and Peter Woods, and Avieon Terrell shores things up in the secondary. The consensus is that the Tigers' biggest question mark heading into the 2025 season is at running back, where they'll have to replace senior Phil Mafah. On Thursday, CBS Sports' Brad Crawford wrote about one area every team in his post-spring top 25 must address to be successful in 2025. For Clemson, it's finding comfort in the run game. Crawford said: "Find comfort in run game: Tabbed by a few to be college football's top team this fall, Clemson is loaded on both sides with perhaps its best roster since Dabo Swinney's last national championship team. That said, the Tigers are inexperienced in the backfield with freshman Gideon Davidson, third-year sophomore Jay Haynes and redshirt freshman David Eziomume expected to share the load at running back after Phil Mafah's departure. This will be a pass-happy team with Cade Klubnik, but offensive coordinator Garrett Riley needs to be able to breathe easy in short-yardage situations, too." Mafah rushed 216 times for 1,115 yards (5.2 AVG) and eight touchdowns a season ago. It's the second straight year that Clemson will have to replace its starting tailback from the previous season after Mafah took over for the versatile Will Shipley after 2023. Clemson and LSU will meet in prime time at 7:30 p.m. ET on Aug. 30. The game will be televised on ABC. The former Michigan State Spartans has signed with a team from Israel's top division, according to a post shared by 247Sports' beat reporter Stephen Brooks. Hall played this past season with the Greensboro Swarm and Motor City Cruise of the NBA G League, where he had an impressive rookie season. Hall appeared in 22 games during the season, averaging 8.8 points and 4.3 rebounds across 22.9 minutes per game. Hall starred for the Spartans for five seasons from 2019 to 2025. During his time at Michigan State, he appeared in 153 games (64 starts) and averaged 8.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
