6 Pickup Trucks That Are Having Massive Price Drops in Early 2025

Yahoo14-03-2025

Planning to buy a pickup truck in the next few months? Your timing couldn't be better. While new vehicle prices typically hold steady or creep up each year, several popular pickup models are bucking the trend with significant price drops expected in early 2025.
Industry experts point to a combination of factors behind these unusual early-year, money-saving discounts: dealerships clearing out leftover 2024 inventory, manufacturers responding to sluggish sales and strategic positioning of certain models. Here are the trucks to watch if you're hunting for a deal this winter.
In contrast, here are the vehicles you want to steer clear of during wintertime.
Be Aware:
Check Out:
The Silverado is poised for major incentives on remaining 2024 models as Chevy makes room for redesigned 2025 versions. According to automotive expert Chris Pyle of JustAnswer, 'The Chevy Silverado 1500 tops the list' of vehicles with substantial cash-back offers on leftover models.
Dealerships are expected to offer significant discounts on these trucks to clear inventory, making early 2025 an excellent time to negotiate a deal on this popular full-size pickup.
For You:
Jeep's pickup hasn't quite matched sales expectations, creating the perfect storm for big discounts. With 2024 models still occupying valuable lot space, Jeep is offering aggressive incentives to move these trucks.
'The Jeep Gladiator tops that list' of vehicles with significant cash-back offers, Pyle said. Watch for dealerships to offer substantial price reductions by February, especially on higher-trim models.
Electric vehicle (EV) prices are falling across the board and Ford's electric F-150 isn't immune. After price adjustments throughout 2024, Pyle said the Lightning is expected to see another substantial drop in early 2025 as Ford works to boost lagging sales and compete with newer EV truck offerings.
Look for notable price cuts on select configurations within the first quarter, making this a great time for buyers interested in electric trucks.
The Sierra AT4 is already selling 'a couple hundred less than it was in 2024,' according to Pyle. What makes this noteworthy is that it's unusual for a new model year to be cheaper than its predecessor right out of the gate.
When combined with dealer incentives, buyers could see decent price reductions that make this premium truck more accessible by March.
With an all-new Ram 1500 arriving for 2025, the outgoing 'Classic' model is prime for clearance pricing. Dealers will be motivated to move these trucks quickly, with discounts expected to be among the deepest in the segment.
Watch for advertised discounts off MSRP, with additional negotiating room at many dealerships as they clear space for newer models.
Honda's unique unibody pickup is already offering incentives earlier than usual. 'The Honda Ridgeline has a $500 cash-back rebate in 2025,' Pyle explained, which is just the beginning of what's expected to be increasingly aggressive pricing as Honda works to claim a larger share of the pickup market.
Industry watchers expect the total discounts to grow as we move further into the first quarter.
While manufacturers typically wait until later in the year for major incentives, these six trucks present rare opportunities for early-2025 bargain hunters. As always, timing is everything — and the first quarter of 2025 looks to be an unusually good time to score a deal on a new pickup.

The Latest Ford Maverick Just Got Recalled Over The Smallest Issue

Not a week will go by without one of the world's major automakers suffering a recall of some sort - that's just the nature of mass production - but Ford may be, once again, having a harder time than most. The Blue Oval has just announced a new recall for the compact Maverick pickup, affecting 63,898 vehicles. The root of the problem lies in retaining clips for the airbag indicator light, which "may be loose or dislodged," according to the NHTSA recall documents. Fortunately (or unfortunately, if you're affected), the recall only extends to 2025 Maverick trucks; if earlier models were also affected, we'd be talking about a six-figure recall. Ford will notify owners via mail by Monday, June 9, 2025. However, that's only to let them know about the recall. A second letter will be mailed once the remedy is available, which means Ford is still working on a fix, or at least, it doesn't have the new retaining clips in dealer inventory yet. Regardless, the fix won't cost owners anything. It should be noted that this recall shows no signs of arresting or otherwise affecting the actual airbag system, so the truck should still be safe to drive. Recall number 25C17 refers, if you want to know more. While this is certainly a minor issue, it's one of many that has affected Ford of late. Nearly 1.1 million vehicles were affected by a rearview camera issue this week, and 1.3 million F-150s with potentially faulty transmissions were recalled a little more than two months ago, with several others in between. But from a certain perspective, these big numbers are a good thing. Let's look at other recent recalls for a bit of context. Stellantis recently recalled nearly 49,000 Alfa Romeo Tonales and Dodge Hornets over a backup camera issue. That's 49,000 units across two brands, with the former starting around $38,000 and the latter around $30,000. The Maverick is even cheaper at $28,145 before destination and handling, and that's remarkable. This isn't a jointly developed crossover; it's an all-Ford pickup, yet it's cheaper, and a small, understandable oversight in quality control for its latest 2025 model still affected roughly 15,000 more vehicles than the abovementioned Stellantis recall, despite that issue concerning 2023-2025 Tonales and Hornets. Basically, what we're saying is, Ford's big recall numbers are just proof that it still sells a ton of vehicles that Americans love in numerous segments, so from that point of view, the recalls that the manufacturing industry will always face are something of a badge of honor for Ford. In fact, Ford sales surged 16% last month as buyers try to avoid potential future price hikes from tariffs, so America still loves the Blue Oval, despite the occasional lapse in quality. Ram returning to NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2026

BROOKLYN, Mich. — Vowing to 'shake up the sport,' Ram will return to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2026 and seek to pave the way for another brand within the Stellantis company to field cars in the Cup Series someday. This marks the return of the Ram in NASCAR since the manufacturer left the Truck Series after the 2012 season. Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota and Ram will compete in the Truck Series next year. Advertisement Tim Kuniskis, CEO of Ram, said that his company plans to impact the sport in a way that creates a larger fan base and more avid fans through its product and at-track experience. 'Our objective is to take the 20 million (avid fans of NASCAR) and turn it into 80 or 100 million,' he said. 'We have a plan. We know how we're going to do it. We think we have a path to get to that. We think people are going to like the way we're doing it because it's going to be fun. Not ready to share all the details with you yet, but I told you that the experiential piece was going to be just a little bit of how we're doing it. It's going to get crazier from there.' NASCAR Cup Series FireKeepers Casino 400 - Qualifying What to watch for in today's NASCAR Cup race at Michigan International Speedway Advertisement Christopher Bell and his new spotter will be tested in today's race, particularly on restarts. That included a Ram demonstration shortly before the start of Sunday's Cup race on the frontstretch at Michigan International Speedway. Fans watching on Prime saw a high-energy Ram commercial touting its return to NASCAR next year just before the start of the Cup race. 'We're setting the tone right there on how we're coming back to NASCAR and it's going to build from that moment all the way to Daytona (in 2026),' Kuniskis said. Kuniskis anticipates having four to six trucks at Daytona next February. He did not reveal any teams or drivers. Ram is expected to have the Ram body finalized and approved by mid-August after a wind tunnel test. Advertisement John Probst, NASCAR senior vice president and chief racing development officer, called Ram's entry into the Truck Series a 'big moment' for NASCAR. This marks the first time a manufacturer has joined the Truck Series since Toyota did with the 2004 season. 'When we work with our (manufacturers), they have made it loud and clear that they would welcome a new (manufacturer) into our sport with open arms,' Probst said. 'They've been very helpful in that process with Ram and some of the other manufacturers we talk to.' NASCAR: DAYTONA 500 23XI Racing's approach has given Bubba Wallace, Tyler Reddick two of NASCAR's best pit crews Advertisement Three year ago frustrations were high with the pit crews at 23XI Racing but a novel hire helped build those units to be among the sport's best. But what about Cup? Ram is a Truck brand. 'We have cars in our company,' Kuniskis said, alluding to the Stellantis, which features 14 iconic automotive brands, including Dodge and Chrysler. 'We're excited that they have interest in the Cup Series,' Probst said of Stellantis. The process for any new Cup manufacturer features an 18-month submission process for its vehicle, engine and other parts, meaning the earliest a new manufacturer could join Cup would be 2027. Advertisement Probst also hinted at additional interest from manufacturers in the Cup Series. 'I don't want to jinx ourselves, but I would say we are very close with one other (manufacturer),' Probst said. 'Can't speak for them. Obviously, it's their decision to make. We would love for them to decide to come into NASCAR. 'Even with that, there's one or two others that we're a little bit earlier in the discussions but also looking pretty positive, but we all know that a (manufacturer) deciding to come into NASCAR, it's a big commitment for them. It's not something that they take lightly. It requires a lot of research and approval at the highest levels. We're confident right now. We like the position we're in and think that we're a pretty good investment for a (manufacturer).'

Who's next? Officials are 'very close' to another deal after Ram joins NASCAR

The sanctioning body remains focused on getting at least four manufacturers back in the Cup Series, which hasn't happened since 2012. While Dodge is certainly a possibility, especially following news of Ram's return to the Truck Series, NASCAR's options are not limited. Speaking to a limited media availability that included NASCAR executive vice president and chief racing development officer John Probst got candid about the current state of play as they court more OEMs. Advertisement 'I feel like we've said this 900 times to you guys, and until today, (we) have not had any breakthrough news to announce, and today, we're proud to welcome Ram back into NASCAR,' said Probst. 'I don't want to jinx ourselves, but I would say we are very close with one other (manufacturer) – can't speak for them, obviously. It's their decision to make. 'We would love for them to decide to come into NASCAR and even with that, there's one or two others that we're a little bit earlier in the discussions, but also, looking pretty positive. We all know that an OEM deciding to come into NASCAR – it's a big commitment for them. It's not something that they take lightly. It's something that requires a lot of research and approval at the highest levels, and you know, we're confident right now. We like the position we're in, and we think we're a pretty good investment for an OEM.' Ram Truck Ram Truck Advertisement While this is pure speculation, Honda is likely among that group in some form as the manufacturer has been linked to previous discussions with NASCAR. But regardless of who, it's clear that the sanctioning body is finally making inroads in their mission to expand their number of dedicated OEMs in the sport. As for why now, Probst claimed, 'there's a lot of momentum around our sport right now … outside of our sport, particularly around a lot of the blue-chip stuff when we go out and get to visit with folks. Particularly, companies that aren't in our sport today, but a lot of positive momentum there.' Probst also believes the Next Gen car, which was introduced in 2022, is another factor in renewed interest from manufacturers. He said the current generation gives the OEMs 'cars that really match what they have on the dealership side and all of the other stuff that's going on over at Dodge, Ram, and Stellantis. The timing was just right for us to get back to work and go racing again together.' As for a timeline, Probst repeated 18 months as the bare minimum for a manufacturer from the moment they say 'yes' to the day they first show up on the grid in order to get everything ready for such an endeavor. But in the meantime, NASCAR finally has its fourth manufacturer – at least at the Truck level. To read more articles visit our website.
