BTS Leader RM Keeps His Winning Streak Perfect With A New Smash

RM and Tablo debut 'Stop the Rain' in the U.K. top 10, marking another solo hit for the BTS star as ... More the track starts at No. 9 on downloads and No. 10 on sales. RM has been the leader of BTS for many years, and like his six bandmates, he has also enjoyed great success as a soloist in addition to the many smashes that the outfit has produced. He's been especially busy during the band's hiatus, as several members fulfill their mandatory military enlistment. In the past year or so, RM has been racking up hits under his own name. He's relatively new to the charts in the United Kingdom, at least under his own moniker, and he continues to add to his growing list of commercial successes this week as BTS fans look ahead to the second half of 2025, which may see the septet releasing new music.
RM recently joined fellow South Korean musician Tablo on the track 'Stop the Rain,' and the hip-hop tune has quickly become a bestseller in the U.K. This frame, the collaboration opens on two tallies, managing to debut inside the top 10 on both of them. 'Stop the Rain' starts at No. 9 on the Official Singles Downloads chart and enters at No. 10 on the Official Singles Sales list.
All four of RM's tunes that have reached either list have cracked the top 10, though 'Stop the Rain' marks a new all-time low for the musician. RM's first two successes — 'Come Back to Me' and 'Lost' — both peaked at No. 1. Those tracks arrived in May and June 2024, respectively. In September, RM joined Megan Thee Stallion on 'Neva Play,' which also reached the top five on both tallies. 'Stop the Rain' is Tablo's first bestseller in the U.K.
This is a fairly quiet frame in terms of exciting new songs debuting — at least according to the charts in the U.K. 'Stop the Rain' narrowly manages to open inside the top 10, yet it stands out as the highest-ranking new title and the only new cut to land in the uppermost region. At the moment, the song appears to be a standalone cut, one which further underline's RM's ability to sell music and help musicians from his home country reach Western audiences in ways they might not be able to do on their own.

Potwin veteran shaped by overseas unrest

POTWIN, Kan. (KSNW) — June 13 marks the 23rd anniversary of a U.S. military incident in South Korea that left two teenage girls dead and sparked international outrage. While Army veteran Mitchell Tamer wasn't there when it happened, the event would come to shape his most challenging year in uniform. Now living a quiet life in Potwin—working at the post office and making music—Tamer reflects on how the tragedy and its aftermath left a lasting impact. 'There had been an accident between a convoy and two little girls who ended up losing their lives,' Tamer recalled. 'And the Korean people weren't happy about us being there after that.' The 2002 'Yangju Highway Incident,' in which a U.S. military convoy accidentally struck and killed two 14-year-old South Korean girls, occurred before Tamer arrived at Camp Red Cloud. But protests continued long after. Tune into KSN News at 10 every Wednesday for our Veteran Salute 'Here we are on our very own camp with our weapons in our hands, linking our arms to make a human wall so demonstrators couldn't come through the walls or the doors,' he said. Though targeted by protesters, Tamer said he came to understand the anger. 'It took a lot of years to process it and come to terms especially when you understand why the people felt the way they did,' he said. That empathy was born of curiosity—and a deep respect for other cultures. 'When you're a small-town country boy like I was, you're thrown into everybody's culture. People from all over the country, and you get to understand and experience their culture a little bit, and then they bring you overseas and there's a whole new culture there,' Tamer said. After South Korea, Tamer joined the Army Reserves and narrowly avoided deployment to Iraq. 'I found out, pretty much the same day I was going to become a father for the first time that I was also going to get reactivated,' he said. 'And I was lucky. I was lucky I didn't have to go.' He retired from the Reserves as a sergeant in 2007. Today, he shares life with his wife and continues to reflect on the value of all experiences. 'What I want people to think about is how the experience in their lives, good or bad, it's all learning and it's all precious. All of it.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. KCON LA 2025 Adds 10 Rising K-Pop Acts To Lineup For New X Stage

KCON has long been the barometer for showcasing what's next in K-pop. Now, the world's biggest K-culture festival amplifies that mission by announcing the addition of the X Stage, a dedicated live platform for rising talent at its upcoming Los Angeles event to bolster the lineup to a massive 33 artists. Dubbed the 'SHOWCASE on X Stage,' this stage will provide newly debuted idol groups and up-and-coming soloists the opportunity to perform for international fans, some on U.S. soil for the very first time. Throughout the festival's August 1-3 dates, the LA Convention Center's West Hall transforms into a special area to connect with these acts while also serving as a discovery zone for 10 artists leading a new wave of K-pop talent. For those keeping track, the 33 artists coming to KCON LA this year will be including Hwasa, Jackson Wang, IVE, aespa, KEY, Roy Kim, HxW (SEVENTEEN), Monsta X, NCT 127, YUQI of i-dle, JO1, P1Harmony, CRAVITY, Lee Youngji, NMIXX, ZEROBASEONE, RIIZE, MEOVV, izna, IS:SUE, Kep1er, Choi Hojung of Street Fighter and NOWZ (previously known as NOWADAYS). KCON has a strong track record of bringing future superstars to their stateside events early. One of the most notable instances came when BTS performed as the youngest artist on the lineup at KCON 2014 in Los Angeles. Billboard noted then that 'BTS might have been the newest artist on the bill, but the huge crowd reaction could have made you think otherwise…we wouldn't be surprised to see a U.S. tour announced soon.' Not only did the group announce a U.S. tour within a year, but multiple KCON appearances and touring the States would become a significant part of what created the band's massive Stateside success. Other major artists like TWICE, SEVENTEEN, Red Velvet, Monsta X, NCT 127, Stray Kids, LOONA and more all made their first-ever appearances and performances in the States as part of KCON. Tickets for KCON LA 2025 are now available via AXS, with additional announcements regarding special stages, guest appearances and convention programming all said to follow soon. All the drama ahead on the 3rd and final season of 'Squid Game'

Are you ready to get back in the game? The third season of Squid Game is headed to Netflix on June 27 — the final installment of the South Korean television phenomenon. The series, which follows down-on-his-luck Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) as he seeks to win a brutal game with a major monetary prize, is a critique of capitalism and the ever-widening wealth gap — but it's also a thriller with endless jaw-dropping reveals and twists. (Spoilers ahead!) With the last piece of the puzzle soon to be unveiled, here's what you need to know about Squid Game. Netflix is dropping all episodes of Squid Game's third season on June 27 — a very fast turnaround from its last season, which hit the platform on Dec. 26, 2024. Meanwhile, the gap between the first and second season of Squid Game was more than three years, with the first season debuting on Sept. 17, 2021. The show's creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, previously told Entertainment Weekly that Seasons 2 and 3 are actually one continuous story but were split into two seasons because of the number of episodes — which is also why the third season is arriving sooner than expected. The first season of Squid Game saw Gi-hun entering the last-man-standing competition, in which the wealthy watch as poor players battle it out in a variety of deadly challenges for a shot at a life-changing cash prize — 456 billion won, which is around $33 million. Gi-hun wins but is forever changed by the cruelty and violence he experienced. He's hellbent on destroying the game — even if that means returning to the arena. In Season 2, Gi-hun reenters the Squid Game in order to take it down from the inside — which, of course, was always going to be easier said than done. Instead of convincing his fellow participants to walk away from the game, or successfully taking down the game makers with his rebellion, the second season ends with Gi-hun having lost nearly everything. His allies are dead, including his best friend, Jung-bae (Lee Seo-hwan), who was killed by the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun). According to Netflix, the cast of Squid Game Season 3 includes: Lee Jung-jae as Gi-hun/Player 456 Lee Byung-hun as Front Man Wi Ha-jun as Hwang Jun-ho Yim Si-wan as Myung-gi/Player 333 Kang Ha-neul as Dae-ho/Player 388 Park Sung-hoon as Hyun-ju/Player 120 Yang Dong-geun as Yong-sik/Player 007 Kang Ae-sim as Geum-ja/Player 149 Jo Yuri as Jun-hee/Player 222 Lee David as Min-su/Player 125 Roh Jae-won as Nam-gyu/Player 124 Park Gyu-young as No-eul The third season of Squid Game brings us back to the same game played in Season 2 — but despite staging a failed rebellion, Gi-hun is not out of the woods yet. As the teaser shows, Gi-hun is brought back into the game in a coffin and forced to play a series of new childhood games with a violent twist. Those games include a very dangerous round of jump rope and a maze experience that quickly descends into violence. Naturally, the scenes have a disturbing playful aesthetic that hides their true nature. In a letter to fans, Dong-hyuk wrote, 'Seong Gi-hun who vowed revenge at the end of Season 1 returns and joins the game again. Will he succeed in getting his revenge? Front Man doesn't seem to be an easy opponent this time either. The fierce clash between their two worlds will continue into the series finale with Season 3.' The creator isn't totally ruling out more Squid Game. Dong-hyuk told IndieWire earlier this month that he already has a potential plan. "I have an idea," he said. "Our next spin-off will be a story happening between Season 1 and 2. There was like a three-year gap between Season 1 and 2, so I will show what they did for those times." If you're eagerly anticipating more Squid Game, you can check out Netflix's reality show Squid Game: The Challenge, a game show based on the TV series. The show has 456 contestants compete in challenges inspired by the South Korean drama for a cash prize of $4.56 million. (Obviously, no contestants are killed — just kicked off.) And if that's not enough, Netflix also has Squid Game: The Experience, a tourist attraction currently in New York City in which you can compete, too. Unfortunately, there's no cash prize in this one.
