Kerry College creative students to showcase work in annual exhibition opening this week
The exhibition will feature a diverse range of art across both traditional and digital media, including painting, print-making, sculpture, animation, games design, graphic design, and interaction design.
Exhibited work comes from learners enrolled in the Kerry College courses of Art, Craft & Design, Animation, Digital Design with Visual Communication, and Games Design.
For the first time learners on the new Level 6 Digital Media Production Course and second years on the BA Hons Animation, Visual Effects and Motion Design degree, delivered in partnership with MTU, will also showcase their work.
The opening night of the show will feature live performances from students of the Music Performance and Sound & Production programmes, alongside pupils of the creative arts disciplines.
Mary Kirby, programme co-ordinator for Art, Craft & Design said the college is incredibly excited to once again host its Creative Arts Exhibition at Siamsa Tíre.
'This annual event not only showcases the exceptional talent of our learners but also reflects the strength and vibrancy of our growing creative community,' Ms Kirby said.
The exhibition will run until Thursday, May 15 and admission will be free for all.
Visitors, industry professionals, and art enthusiasts are warmly invited to attend and experience the breadth of emerging creative talent.
Kerry College has thanked Siamsa Tíre for its continued support in providing an exhibition space.

Rose of Tralee 2025 – 10 must do events at this year's festival
We've compiled a list of the top 10 events taking place in the town so you don't miss out on anything over the few days. 1) Opening Ceremony (Friday from 3pm to 4.30pm – Island of Geese) The festivities kick off on Friday at the Island of Geese with the official opening ceremony of the Rose. This event, presented by Kerry County Council will welcome the 2025 Rose of Tralee International Roses. Entertainment will be provided on the afternoon from Cor Seoda Tíre, Siamsa Tíre and local tenor Noel Heaslip. 2) Celebration of Light (Friday from 6.15pm to 7.15pm – Tralee Bay Wetlands) As evening falls on Friday, the spotlight of the Rose will shift to the tranquil setting of Tralee Bay Wetlands for the Recovery Haven's moving Celebration of Light event. This annual event brings together all those who have been touched by cancer and remembers the loved ones lost to the disease. All 32 Roses will be present at this year's event as will Suzan O'Gara of the Rose of Tralee Committee, reigning Rose of Tralee Keeley O'Grady and Don O'Neill, a patron of Recovery Haven and a judge for the Rose of Tralee. 3) Emergency Services Display (Saturday from 11am to 4pm – Neil Armstrong Way) From 11am to 4pm, Neil Armstrong Way will come alive with the annual and popular Emergency Services Display, giving the public a chance to meet the everyday heroes who keep our community safe. Some Roses will be in attendance at this so let's hope for that the good weather continues! 4) Roses in the Moonlight Parade (Saturday from 8.45pm to 10.30pm – Denny St) The main highlight of Saturday night will is undoubtedly the first of the festival's parade kicks off, bringing with it over an hour of music, pageantry, and cheering crowds. Be sure to get down there early to secure yourself a good spot! 5) Music & Fireworks (Saturday from 9pm to 11pm – Denny St & The Square) Denny Street & the Square will be the places to be music wise on Saturday night with acts such as the Rory Gallagher tribute band The Deuce and AC/DC tribute band IE/DC set to play in the Square from 8pm onwards right up until 11pm. Over on Denny St, the traditional fireworks display will take place at 10.15pm while the brilliant Abba Sisters will be on stage from 10.20pm to 11.20pm. People are advised to bring their dancing shoes for this one! 6) Take part in or cheer on runners in the new Rose 5k (Sunday from 11am – finishing on Denny St) Sunday morning kicks off with a burst of energy as runners lace up for the Rose 5k Run, starting at 11am near Siamsa Tíre. If you're taking part, be sure to come on down to the finish line on Denny St anyway to cheer on those taking part and give them that extra pep in their step to finish with a flourish. 7) Roses in the Sunlight Parade (Sunday from 2:30pm to 3.30pm – Denny St) Can't get enough? The Roses take to the streets again for a shorter but equally vibrant parade. This one will feature floats, glowing costumes and of course the Roses, Rose Escorts, Rose Buds and Rose Buddies along with 11 marching bands and over 100 performers. 8) The An Garda Síochána Band (Sunday from 3pm to 3.45pm – Denny St) Enjoy the uplifting sounds of the talented and always popular Garda Band as they round off the weekend with music that will have toes tapping all along the street. 9) The Irish Village (Every day in Páirc an Phiarsaigh) Those looking to speak, learn or listen to a bit of Gaeilge are invited to come along to the Irish Village in Páirc an Phiarsaigh. This will be running every day of the festival from 9.30am to 5pm and will include events such as the Ciorcal Comhrá (an Irish conversation group that is open to all levels of Irish speakers) or the Maidin Caife ar son Palestone Red Cresecent Society (Saturday from 11am to 12.30pm) which is coffee, cakes, conversation and music in aid of a worthy cause. See the Féile Thrá Lí e-programme online for a full list of what's on in the Irish Village. 10) Family Town (Every day from 11am to 4pm in Tralee Town Park) Tralee Town Park will transform into a wonderland of fun kids entertainment for families to enjoy. The Fantastic Four: First Steps brings all the family feels, say stars Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby
Collective strength and the optimism of the 1960s are the driving forces of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, its stars Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby say. Helmed by WandaVision director Matt Shakman, the movie reboots the Fantastic Four film series, which is based on the Marvel Comics super-team. It comes 10 years after the last Fantastic Four film flopped at the box office and received scathing reviews. Watch: The trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps With a starry ensemble cast, the retro-futuristic, 60s-inspired movie introduces Marvel's 'First Family' - Pascal's Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Kirby's Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn's Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach's Ben Grimm/The Thing. Drawing on their bond and superhero strengths, the foursome must take on the planet-devouring cosmic entity called Galactus, played by Ralph Ineson, and his herald, Silver Surfer, played by Julia Garner. "It's about family. It's about caring for humankind. It's about protecting human innocence and knowing that you can't do it alone. We can only do it together," said Pascal, launching the film in London on Thursday. Being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was "an actor's dream", Pascal, 50, said. "To get to step into it for the first time in an ensemble, with a vision that is very dedicated to its origins and the characters in the stories that people originally fell in love with when they were first published in 1961, and the charm of something that has optimism and a very pure heart, is everything," he said. Kirby, who is expecting her first child, said playing Sue Storm, who has a baby in the movie, was also a lesson in motherhood. "She really changed my whole perspective on it, honestly," Kirby said. "It was so inspiring and emotional for me to play this part where she could be as much part of the team, a working mother, who was able to do everything, wasn't sidelined. The baby became part of the journey. And it taught me that everything is possible as a woman." Pascal, Kirby, Quinn, and Moss-Bachrach are on a global publicity tour to promote the movie and have praised the bond they formed through the film. "What it means for me is that I have a really loving year," said Moss-Bachrach, who also stars on the hit show The Bear. "I spend some of the year in Chicago working with people that I love so dearly, and then I come out to London and work with some other people that I love so dearly. I'm in a very fortunate position." The Fantastic Four: First Steps begins its global cinematic rollout on Wednesday 23 July. It opens in Irish cinemas on Thursday 24 July.

Bodhráns at the ready, Cork is hosting the Fleadh!
From the 16 to 19 July, Munster Technological University throws its doors open to competitors, hosting competitions right across its campus, including the 1,200-seat MTU Arena, the Rory Gallagher Theatre, and the recently refurbished Carmine Building. In addition, city centre events, such as the Fleadh launch concert scheduled to take place in the MTU Cork School of Music Curtis Theatre, will further enrich the cultural offerings available to the public. This is the third time that MTU has had involvement in the competition, which brings lovers of Irish traditional music and dance in one spot to celebrate all things musical from our fine country. 300 volunteers will be taking part across the festival, including 80 adjudicators, as well as tutors and officials. There will also be workshops for those looking to hone their craft, while a Fleadh Céilí will also get the public on their feet. With just one week to go, we are really looking forward to welcoming the Fleadh Cheoil performers, their families, loved ones, friends, and the wider public to our campuses,' said MTU President, Professor Maggie Cusack.
