Promises will be fulfilled in phased manner: Narayana

Hans India13-07-2025
Nellore: Minister of Municipal Administration & Urban Development Ponguru Narayana has asserted that all promises made to people during 2024 elections will be fullfilled in a phased manner.
As part of ongoing State government's prestigious 'Suparipalanalo Tholi Adugu' programme, the M&U Minister visited 46 & 50 divisions in Nellore city on Saturday.
On the occasion, the Minister detailed the welfare schemes of the coliation government to the people and appealed to them to bless Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for going ahead with more developmental activities in coming days.
Narayana pointed out that the State exchequer was totally emptied due to the mindless decisions adopted by the previous YSRCP government.
' During his five year tenure, former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy always concentrated about how to loot the public money instead of thinking about the welfare of State, ' he alleged.
Due to the misrule of previous regime, the coalition government was now grappling with financial crisis, he said.
Though there was fund crunch, the coalition government has been fulfilling all promises, the Minister pointed out. Measures are being taken to soon implement 'Annadatha Sukheebhava' scheme.
Narayana said that people felt happy and safe during the coalition government's rule during the last one year. He said the State government was ensuring that all eligible derive benefit from the welfare schemes.
Former municipal chairman Tallapaka Anuradha, former ZPTC Vijetha Reddy and others were present.

Mithila ‘bhajan' at Atal event wows PM

Patna: A soulful Mithila bhajan rendered by two young girls from Bihar imbued a spiritual ambience at the 'Sadaiv Atal' memorial in Delhi on Saturday where President Droupadi Murmu, PM Narendra Modi and other dignitaries paid emotional tributes to former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary. The performance by Samridhi Pathak and Sanvi Pathak so moved the PM that he met them after the programme to personally commend their talent and encourage them. President Murmu also warmly applauded the duo for their rendition. West Delhi MP and folk singer Manoj Tiwari, Madhubani MP Dr Ashok Kumar Yadav, and JD(U) national executive president Sanjay Kumar Jha shared videos of the performance on their social media accounts. Jha noted that the Maithili Vandana, "Jai-jai Bhairavi Asura Bhayauni…", composed by the eminent poet Vidyapati, had left a deep impression on those attending the solemn gathering. The devotional piece, known as Gosauni, is part of Mithilanchal's rich cultural heritage and is traditionally sung in praise of Goddess Durga. Bihar BJP president Dilip Jaiswal lauded the young performers and said, "The daughters of Madhubani mesmerised everyone with their wonderful performance in tribute to Atal ji. The PM not only praised their art, but also gave new energy and inspiration to their spirit." Vajpayee holds a special place in the hearts of the people of Mithilanchal, remembered for his contributions to the region during his tenure as PM, including the construction of the Kosi Mahasetu and the inclusion of Maithili in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. In recent years, the Narendra Modi govt has made a point of showcasing Mithila's art and culture with Bihar scheduled to go to the polls this year. Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the establishment of a Makhana Board and even chose to wear a sari adorned with Madhubani painting for her Budget presentation this year. The PM and senior ministers have also gifted Madhubani paintings to foreign dignitaries, including China's defence minister earlier this year. In Patna, Governor Arif Mohammad Khan and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar paid floral tributes to Vajpayee by garlanding his life-size statue at Pataliputra Park. The statue, unveiled in 2024 by Nitish Kumar, stands as a reminder of the late leader's enduring legacy in Bihar. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). Lalu welcomed with folk dance at memorial event

Patna: The occasion was the second death anniversary of former legislator Arun Kumar Yadav's father Bhuwaneshwar Singh Yadav. But when RJD president Lalu Prasad reached there, he was welcomed with "Launda Dance", a kind of folk dance popular in the Bhojpuri belt. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The Launda Dance, popular in parts of Bihar, is performed exclusively by men dressed as women. It has long been a source of entertainment in rural festivities but is increasingly rare in modern times. Lalu, who is battling serious health complications, travelled to Agiaon village earlier in the day to pay floral tributes to the late Bhuwaneshwar Singh Yadav. He joined havan rituals, offered prayers and wished peace for the departed soul. What drew considerable attention was the choice of welcome. A video that has since gone viral shows colourfully attired male dancers performing to folk songs, aiming to please the RJD chief as he arrived in a van. Upon hearing of the performance, large numbers of local villagers gathered at the venue to watch and join in the festivities. According to those familiar with the matter, Lalu has long enjoyed Launda Dance. The last such performance attended by him was in Sept 2023 at the official residence of his wife, former CM Rabri Devi, shortly after the RJD returned to power in alliance with the JD(U). RJD spokesperson Chitranjan Gagan strongly defended the performance. "Launda Dance highlights the rich culture of the state. While he was the CM, Laluji initiated steps to keep alive the dying Launda Dance. Those opposing this folk dance have no idea of Bihar's rich culture," Gagan said on Saturday.
