Family of teen tea seller killed in crash denied entry to home
Ahmedabad: The family of 13-year-old Akash Dantani, who died in Thursday's plane crash near the IGP office campus in Meghaninagar, is struggling to return to their home. Akash, along with his 16-year-old brother, ran a tea stall to support their family after the death of their father during the Covid pandemic.

Akash died in the crash. His family now says they are not being allowed to enter their own neighbourhood.
His grandmother, Babi Patni, stood near the barricade outside the crash zone and said, "My kid died yesterday. What was his fault? He was selling tea on a roadside stall to feed our family. Now these policemen have barricaded the area and we are not allowed to pass this barricade. We want to live peacefully in our own house. Why are these cops stopping us?"
Babi said she was staying at a roadside temple for two days.
Akash's mother and elder brother have been sitting outside the postmortem room at Civil Hospital, where his body remains are kept. The family says they received no support.
Akash was one of the many killed when a Boeing 787 aircraft crashed minutes after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Thursday. The plane broke into parts. The nose hit the Atulyam residential buildings, the middle section hit a garden and road, and the tail crashed into a mess building. The crash caused a fire that spread across the area, fed by jet fuel. Akash, who was selling tea outside, got caught in the flames.
His cousin Anil said, "I went home to get lunch for him. I heard the blast and ran back. But there were just pieces left of him."

In a tragic incident, a former BJP MP's son allegedly died by hanging himself from the ceiling of his room in a library in Udaipur district of Rajasthan. The police are conducting an investigation into the matter to ascertain the cause of the suicide. Mahaveer Bhagora died due to corona infection in 2021. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma offered condolences on the unfortunate and tragic demise of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who was one of the passengers flying to London from Ahmedabad when the Boeing 787-8, Air India flight 171, crashed shortly after take-off. "The news of the demise of former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani, in the plane crash in Ahmedabad is extremely sad. I pray to the Lord to give place to the departed soul in his feet and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this immense pain," Sharma posted on X. Rupani was in charge of the Punjab unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Grieving his death, party workers from Ludhiana's BJP unit paid tribute to the former Gujarat CM.

Government Forms Committee to Strengthen Aviation Security After Air India Crash, ET Infra
Advt Advt Boeing 787-8 extensive surveillance By , ETInfra While the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is investigating the technical aspects which led to the crash of Air India Flight AI-171 on Thursday, the government has formed a high level committee led by the home secretary to look into the broader aspect of strengthening of aviation security landscape in the country.'While AAIB will investigate the technical aspects of the crash, another high level committee has been formed led by the home secretary, which includes officials from the central and state government. The committee, apart from looking into the reason for the crash, will also look into overall aviation safety and strengthening of aviation safety in the future,' said Civil Aviation Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha in a press briefing on Saturday.'The composition of the high level committee involves people from various backgrounds and people we feel can bring in a lot of expertise and value to the committee which is going to investigate in a holistic way into the incident,' said Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, who was also present at the minister highlighted that the high level committee is going to do its own investigation into the crash of the Air India aircraft which is going to be independent of all the other investigations that are going to has already initiated the investigation into the Air India crash . There are 34 in our Indian aircraft fleet today. The Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad on Saturday confirmed that DNA profiling of nine bodies recovered from the tragic Air India crash site has been successfully completed. The identification process matched the DNA samples with those of the bereaved officials informed that the first body has now been handed over to the family, following the completion of necessary legal formalities.
