Pune: The state govt has initiated the integration of two key educational data systems — Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE) and Systematic Administrative Reforms for Achieving Learning by Students (SARAL).
The fusion will streamline data entry processes and eliminate duplication of work which has long been a pain point for over 7.43 lakh teachers in the state.
At present, teachers have to enter the same student-related information such as attendance, academic performance, enrolment, dropout data, and infrastructure details into both platforms on both portals.

This redundancy not only consumes valuable teaching time but also adds to clerical stress during the academic year.
Under the new plan, the state's 2.11 crore school students will now be mapped through a unified system, enabling teachers to update and manage data from a single point of access, the education department said.
Maharashtra Samagra Shiksha is spearheading the initiative. "From this academic year, the process of integrating information from the UDISE and SARAL systems has begun," director Sanjay Yadav said.
He added that education officers have been told to ensure that no student is left out of school.
"The integrated system will be more teacher-friendly and reduce time spent on non-teaching tasks, allowing educators to focus more on classroom engagement and student learning outcomes," Yadav said.
The move is seen as part of a larger effort to modernise the state's education management system and support the goals of National Education Policy which emphasises reducing non-academic workload on teachers.
Mahendra Ganpule, former vice-president of Maharashtra Headmasters' Association, said, "Teachers will now be able to enter information at one time and in one place, saving them time and effort."
More time for teaching efforts
Teachers entered students' personal information into the SARAL system, including names, classes, attendance, and detailed basic information
The central govt's UDISE system required comprehensive information about the school, physical facilities, school activities, libraries, students' bank accounts, scholarships, and materials

Entering information into both govt online systems consumed a significant amount of teachers' time which also led to neglect in improving educational standards. This integration will be crucial for accreditation and exam management

3 Zodiac signs poised for a lucky august, according to astrology

I observe the gentle stream reflecting the twilight sky. Leo, Cancer, and Virgo's glyphs glow, marking a fresh start. As August 2025 begins, many of us are looking for a fresh start. A new month always brings new energy, and in astrology, certain signs are naturally aligned for positive shifts. While every zodiac sign has the power to grow and succeed, astrologers have identified three signs that are especially fortunate this August: Leo, Cancer, and Virgo. Leo Leo natives may have experienced confusion or scattered thoughts recently, mainly due to Mercury retrograde affecting their sign through much of June. Although its lingering effects continue until August 11, clarity starts to return mid-month. Leos will notice stronger mental focus, better decision-making, and the release of old habits or emotional burdens. Letting go of what no longer serves you will open the door to exciting new opportunities. Toward the end of the month, on August 25, Venus moves into Leo, enhancing charm, attraction, and social connections. This is the time to connect with others, express your desires, and step confidently into the spotlight. The universe is ready to support your goals. Cancer Cancer is set to have an especially favorable month, possibly the luckiest of all signs. DU Sees Higher Female Admissions Than Male Since CUET Launch: Govt Data

Last Updated: Since CUET's launch in 2022, Delhi University has consistently admitted more female students than before, reflecting a rise in women's participation in higher education. Delhi University (DU) has seen a consistent trend of more female students securing undergraduate admissions than male candidates since the launch of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) in 2022, government data presented in Parliament shows. In the academic years 2022–23, 2023–24, and 2024–25, DU admitted 34,010, 36,126, and 39,242 women students, respectively, outnumbering male admissions, which stood at 30,662, 32,425, and 33,124 for the same years. This data was shared by Minister of State for Education Dr Sukanta Majumdar in the Lok Sabha, in response to a question regarding the impact of CUET on female enrolment, particularly from remote regions. Contrary to concerns, the number of girls appearing for CUET (UG) has steadily increased: from 4.29 lakh in 2022–23 to 5.94 lakh in 2024–25. CUET was introduced as part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to streamline university admissions and reduce pressure on students. Initially limited to central universities, CUET is now accepted by a wide range of institutions including state, deemed, and private universities with participating institutes rising from 90 in 2022 to 240 in 2024. Officials emphasised that the test offers a level playing field for students from diverse boards and geographies, helping bridge the access gap in higher education. The trend appears to reflect this aim, with growing enrolment of female students not just in DU, but across institutions in Delhi-NCR as well. According to the All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE), the number of female undergraduate students in Delhi-NCR rose from 4.09 lakh in 2020–21 to 4.91 lakh in 2022–23, a clear indication of growing participation by women in higher education. To further encourage this trend, the government is running several schemes targeted at women in academia. The UGC's 'Development of Women's Studies" programme supports women's studies centres in universities and colleges. In technical education, the AICTE's Pragati scholarship aids meritorious female students. Meanwhile, the Department of Science and Technology operates initiatives like WISE-KIRAN and SERB-POWER to bolster the presence of women in science and research. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
