CINCINNATI — Will Benson and Rece Hinds hit solo home runs as the Cincinnati Reds won their third straight game, 4-1 over the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday night.
Brent Suter allowed four hits in three innings before five relievers combined to allow a run on four hits for the Reds, including a 1-2-3 sixth inning by Luis Mey (1-0).

Adam Frazier had three hits and scored the winning run on Nick Gonzales's sacrifice fly in the ninth inning, helping the Pittsburgh Pirates rally for a 5-4 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night. Henry Davis answered with a two-run homer the same inning. Matt Strahm struck out the side for the Phillies in the eighth. Bednar immediately matched him in the ninth, capped by getting Turner to whiff on a curveball in the dirt. Pirates starter Bailey Falter allowed four runs on five hits in 3 2/3 innings. Chase Shugart, Caleb Ferguson, Dennis Santana and Bednar combined to give up two hits and one walk with eight strikeouts the rest of the way. Endy Rodríguez left due to right elbow discomfort and continues to be evaluated, the Pirates said. LHP Ranger Suárez (4-0, 2.72 ERA) will take the mound for the Phillies on Saturday opposite Pirates LHP Andrew Heaney (3-4, 3.39).

D-backs catcher Gabriel Moreno leaves game in the 6th
CINCINNATI (AP) — Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Gabriel Moreno left Friday night's game against the Cincinnati Reds after being struck on his right hand by a wild pitch from right-handed reliever Cristian Mena. With the Diamondbacks leading 3-2 in the sixth, Mena's pitch bounced in front of home plate and hit Moreno on his throwing hand. After consulting with the training staff, Moreno made a few throws but couldn't continue. Manager Torey Lovullo said X-rays were negative. 'Taking him out of the game was precautionary, the trainer recommended it after watching him throw the ball' Lovullo said. 'There's substantial swelling in that area. We'll see how he wakes up and feels tomorrow.' Jose Herrera replaced Moreno behind the plate. Moreno was 0 for 2 and looking to extend his seven-game hitting streak. He was batting .281 with four homers and 17 RBIs in 49 games.

Manny Machado homers again as Padres defeat Brewers 2-0
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Manny Machado homered for a second straight game and five San Diego pitchers combined on a four-hit shutout as the Padres defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 2-0 on Friday night. Machado's eighth-inning homer off Grant Anderson was his ninth of the season. It came one day after he hit his 350th career homer in a 3-2 loss at San Francisco, making him the 33rd player to reach that milestone in his age-32 season or earlier. Machado turns 33 on July 6. Wandy Peralta (3-0) earned the win after replacing starter Randy Vásquez and striking out Christian Yelich to strand runners on second and third in the fifth.
