Iowa women's basketball offers highly-touted 2027 recruit
As Iowa women's basketball continues to hunt for the next wave of top-tier talent, the Hawkeyes have extended an offer to class of 2027 guard and small forward Madi Mignery.
The 6-foot-1 prospect has a 247Sports rating of 95. In 247Sports' rating system, that makes Mignery a four-star prospect in the 2027 recruiting class.
The Sarasota, Florida, native is regarded as the No. 2 player in the Sunshine State per Prep Girls Hoops.
Given her ranking, Iowa is not alone in the race for Mignery's commitment. Mignery has received offers from other premier programs such as Ohio State, Florida State, Michigan, Michigan State, Kentucky, Florida, TCU and Stanford.
According to her MaxPreps statistics, Mignery averaged an impressive 16.0 points per game on 56% shooting from the floor, 36% from 3-point territory, and 77% from the free-throw line through 28 contests in her sophomore season with Cardinal Mooney.
Mignery also averaged 9.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.6 steals per game this past season.
Mignery captained the Cardinal Mooney team to a 24-9 record and helped guide the school to a 2025 Florida High School Athletic Association Class 3A state championship with 19 points and 11 rebounds in the title game against Bolles.
Mignery has also turned heads with her play with Girls Under Armour Association squad FGB.

Auburn lays claim to Iowa football national championship
Just over a week until the 2025 season, the Iowa football program will apparently need to adjust its record books as the Auburn Tigers made news on Tuesday that it will be recognizing five new claimed national championships, including the Hawkeyes' 1958 national title. Auburn announced on Tuesday that it is now claiming four additional national championships, including the years 1910, 1914, 1958, and 2004. The surprising decision by Auburn is certainly up for debate, as all five occurred when the sport determined its overall winner based on multiple media polls. Iowa has long laid claim to the 1958 national championship. The Hawkeyes were recognized as national champions by the Football Writers Association of America after leading the nation in total offense. The Hawkeyes' 8-1-1 (5-1 Big Ten) campaign ended with a 38-12 Rose Bowl victory over Cal and garnered the No. 2 spot in the final Associated Press poll. Consensus All-American Randy Duncan was named the Helms Foundation Player of the Year and received the Walter Camp Trophy for the Hawkeyes in 1958. Due to LSU finishing in the top spot in the final AP poll, they would also claim a national title that season. Auburn stipulates it is deserving of a share based on that season's David Montgomery Full Season Championship poll, which named the Tigers' 9–0–1 (6–0–1 SEC) record as their national champion. Two Florida Gators earn 247Sports' Preseason True Freshman All-America Team honors
Florida football true freshmen Dallas Wilson and Jayden Woods were both named to the 247Sports preseason True Freshman All-America Team, giving the Gators two representatives on a list packed with the nation's top first-year talent. It's another sign that Billy Napier's 2025 recruiting class has a chance to make an immediate impact in Gainesville. Wilson, a former five-star wide receiver out of Tampa Bay Tech, put up monster numbers in high school. He racked up 130 catches for 2,424 yards and 30 touchdowns. He averaged nearly 19 yards per reception and earned invites to both the Under Armour All-America Game and the Polynesian Bowl. Originally committed to Oregon, Wilson flipped to Florida late in the process—a huge recruiting win for Napier. On the other side of the ball, Woods is a name Florida fans will want to remember. The four-star edge rusher was a dominant force at Mill Valley High School in Kansas. Over his high school career, he piled up 212 tackles, 25.5 tackles for loss and 18.5 sacks, along with seven forced fumbles and an interception. The 6-foot-4, 248-pound defender flipped his commitment from Penn State to Florida. His blend of power and explosiveness off the edge makes him one of the most exciting defensive newcomers in the SEC. Having two true freshmen recognized nationally before the season begins is a strong statement for Florida's roster building. Wilson and Woods represent both sides of the ball, and both come with the pedigree and production to compete immediately in the SEC. Here is everything 247Sports' Chris Hummer said about the two highly talented true freshmen representing the Orange and Blue. What 247Sports said about Wilson "Wilson isn't exactly a secret going into 2025 after his 10-catch, 195-yard, two-touchdown spring game performance. But it's worth emphasizing that his spring game effort wasn't just a one-off. Those around the Florida program expect Wilson to be a big part of the Gators' passing offense this year even as he's nursed a leg injury in fall camp. He's a big exterior receiver at 6-foot-3, 213 pounds with the speed, hands and highlight-reel catching ability to consistently stress a defense vertically. Also, don't overlook Vernell Brown (No. 35 overall in 2025) in Florida's wide receiver rotation. He's going to play a lot, too." What 247Sports said about Wood "A Kansas State champion shot put and discus thrower as well as a state qualifier in wrestling, Woods is one of the real athletic freaks from the 2025 class. He's made a rapid impression in Gainesville, where Woods has drawn consistent praise publicly and behind the scenes. The 6-foot-3, 248-pound pass rusher is a lock to be part of the rotation even with a very deep edge room in Gainesville. He's even taken a decent share of first-team reps during camp. Said Florida coach Billy Napier of Woods during fall camp: "(He's) a unicorn, man.""
