Simba Hybrid Ultra Mattress to try for myself.
This week, the sleep experts at Simba are offering 20% off selected mattresses as part of their August Bank Holiday sale. As the proud owner of a range-topping Simba Hybrid Ultra Mattress, I can confidently say that it has been a revelation, proving to me (and my husband) just how important it is to have the right mattress to suit your needs.
With £500 off in the sale, the price has been reduced from £2499 to £1999 for the king-size mattress, and it's worth every penny. With no more dips in the middle, unsprung springs or sweaty synthetic toppers to worry about, it's a worthwhile investment for better sleep.
47 Skin's 'life-changing' skincare products for spot-prone teens are now 10% off
L'Oreal anti-ageing skincare bundle with 'magic in a jar' cream is now £47 off
I love my Simba mattress, but it's not the only premium option on the market. The Hybrid Airgrid Mattress from Emma has been called "a really excellent mattress" by customers. Available to buy for £1,449, the king-size mattress currently comes with a free cloud pillow worth £64 included.
Elswhere, the Wunderflip Ultimate Hybrid Sleep Mattress from Eve Sleep is a cheaper option that has a four out of five-star rating from mattress buyers on a budget. Prices start from £699.
The Simba Hybrid Ultra Mattress
When it arrived I was a little overwhelmed by the sheer size of it. Measuring a more than generous 34cm in depth, it was no flimsy bed topper that had been hand delivered to my bedroom, but more a weapons-grade comfort cloud that the delivery men struggled to get up the stairs.
When popped on top of my divan base, I was immediately reminded of the Princess and the Pea, but one quick lie down and any fear of feeling too high off the floor quickly dissipated. The deeper mattress provides a higher level of support for the hips, shoulders and other sensitive areas, and honestly, it feels like sleeping on a giant cushion that never dents or sags.
The medium-firm mattress is just right, not too soft and not too hard, which in my experience is a revelation, as that can be a difficult balance to get right.
Comfort
Made from 13 layers of luxurious materials and with 8,500 supportive springs hidden within, the signature design really does provide unparalleled levels of comfort. Offering support in all the right places, it seems to handle different-sized sleepers with ease, and the magic technology that sets it apart from other high-end mattresses does a fine job of keeping you both cool.
On top, a layer made of wool, bamboo, charcoal and kapok helps to increase natural support and breathability. Dig down deeper and 4,000 titanium alloy Aerocoil® micro springs compress individually in response to your body, providing ergonomic pressure relief and limiting transfer of movement, while 3,500 high carbon steel Aerocoil® micro springs sit further down the mattress to maximise support, gently pushing fresh air through the mattress as they compress.
This rather delicious mattress also features a SupportCore™ base, with 1,000 pocketed barrel springs to ensure 100% edge-to-edge support.
Temperature Control
As a menopausal woman, night sweats and hot flashes can interrupt even the deepest of sleep. Imagine my joy then to discover that the team at Simba were laser-focused on creating the coolest, most comfortable top layer for the Ultra which they did with the help of a combination of airy bamboo, cooling charcoal and silky-soft kapok.
Having used this mostly through the cooler months of the year I've not once felt myself overheating. Of course, that could still change as the mercury rises, but so far this mattress has shown much more impressive cooling capabilities than some of the other supposedly "cooling" bed sheets, duvets and pillows I have tried before.
It also came with a pure white mattress protector that is deep enough to cover the super soft mattress, and the top layer of the mattress can be removed for washing.
Cost
The Simba Hybrid Ultra range, now starting from £1599.20 with a 20% discount in the sale, may be the brand's priciest option, but it boasts their cutting-edge technology, elevating it beyond just a comfortable mattress.
In comparison to the popular Simba Hybrid Pro (now available from £647) and Simba Hybrid Luxe (now starting at £995), the Ultra model steps up the game with more of the essential Simba Aerocoil micro springs for superior supportive comfort.
While all Simba mattresses, including the basic Simba Essential (now priced from £399) and the Simba Hybrid Original (now from £525), incorporate Graphite-infused 'open-cell' Simbatex foam for better airflow and heat dissipation, this stunning mattress also includes the CoolFusion layer (comprising wool, bamboo, charcoal, kapok) for exceptional temperature regulation and moisture management.
It's not just me singing the praises of my wonderful mattress, customers have awarded the Simba mattress a stellar 4.7 out of five-star rating. One shopper said: "Incredibly comfortable, so worth it! I was hesitating but it's by far the best mattress I've ever had. I'm a solo side sleeper of low weight and it's perfect for me, I was worried it would be too firm! But I love it, and it's done wonders for my back. Couldn't be happier!"
Another added: "Believe the hype. It's been 12 days, and I have had the most consistently great sleep in half a decade. The mattress delivers so well on its promise."
A third customer gushed: "Perfect! Absolute bliss, the best purchase I've made in years, 100%"
Regrettably, not all customers shared such enthusiasm. One disheartened purchaser only awarded the mattress three stars, explaining: "Unfortunately, the mattress was very firm, and not for us. The mattress cover ripped when putting the mattress on the bed. A new one was sent out but it was not what you'd expect."
Despite some mixed feedback, the majority of customers appeared delighted with their investment. Another glowing review said: "In short, the Simba Hybrid Ultra redefines what a mattress can be. It's not just a bed-it's the best mattress ever engineered, transforming sleep into an indulgent, dreamlike experience. Highly recommended for anyone seeking the ultimate in comfort and quality and sheer luxury."

‘I'm completely obsessed': fashion pros reveal their bank holiday picks including prices from £11.99

THE bank holiday weekend is here, which for many of us means squeezing in our final end-of-summer plans before autumn hits. And although the high street is in full A/W mode, with cosy knitwear, chunky boots and jackets galore, we've been blessed with some gorgeous sunshine recently. The days may still be warm, but the evenings are definitely getting cooler, and that's where the wardrobe dilemmas kick in. Whether your plans involve a garden party with friends, a family barbecue or if you're simply using the extra day to check off a few chores at home, we've got you covered. Our fashion experts reveal what they'll be wearing this weekend to help spark inspiration, plus we couldn't resist some pieces from the new Topshop collection. Think light layers that you can throw on as the sun dips, and versatile staples that'll see their way into your autumn wardrobes too. Clemmie Fieldsend, 35, Fashion Editor I've got a big, family garden party this weekend - think scones, Pimms and rain dodging! This dress from Sister Jane isn't very 'me', but I can appreciate a good thing when I see it, and that made me fall in love with it. The scoop back, the lighter-than-air fabric, the quintessential summery print - it's the perfect dress for such an occasion. Should the weather turn, I'll be taking this H&M blouse with me to wear open as a jacket. The pink hue pairs tonally with the dress, and it's one of those tops you can wear with pretty much anything - even as a cover-up. I've paired the dress with woven flats for a bit of texture, and as I'll only be needing a phone and lippy, an easy phone bag it is - and my Reiss one is my favourite. And I'm thrilled to be re-living the glory days of Freedom at Topshop jewellery via the brand's new website. Even though this gold cuff isn't technically Freedom, I will be calling it so for the nostalgia! Emily Regan, 25, Fashion Assistant 3 We've been so lucky with the weather this summer and I'm crossing my fingers for another warm bank holiday weekend since I've got a family barbecue planned. I'm loving the jorts trend that has been everywhere - and this pair from H&M is the perfect length for me. They don't overwhelm my frame, which can be a concern when you're petite. I'm also completely obsessed with this cardigan from Next - it's such a brilliant alternative to the House of Sunny versions, but at a much friendlier price point. I'l be keeping it in my bag for when the evening gets cooler. To finish the look, I've styled it with brown platform sandals, classic brown aviator sunglasses and this gorgeous studded bag from the new Topshop relaunch collection. Abby McHale, 31, Deputy Fashion Editor For the last bank holiday until Christmas (sob!) the weather is looking cautiously optimistic. I'm heading out for a day with the girls, so have opted for an easy, throw-on midi-dress. Brown is set to be big once again this autumn, so I thought I'd hop on board the trend a little early with this dress from Mango. With Topshop's exciting relaunch, I've had my eye on a few pieces - and I love these cow-print heels, as they make a big statement and mean I can leave the rest of my outfit fairly plain. I've completed my look with some gold earrings, sunglasses and a brown suede bag that is perfect as we head into autumn.

'Gentle' cleanser with rave reviews is now 20% off in under-the-radar sale

With reviews calling it 'clean and fresh' and a celeb connection behind the scenes, this brand is trending for a reason It feels like every A-Lister is turning their hand to beauty and skincare. From Hailey Bieber's Rhode and Selena Gomez's Rare Beauty to Scarlett Johansson's The Outset, the celebrity-founded beauty world has never been busier - and now Scarlett's line is on offer. Her brand, The Outset, is a minimalist, ingredient-conscious skincare label that focuses on gentle, barrier-supporting formulas designed for everyday use. And right now, shoppers can save 20% off the entire range at Cult Beauty. That includes nourishing daily moisturisers, firming collagen prep serums and replenishing night creams, all of which promise to leave skin healthy, plump and glowing. For anyone unsure where to start, I can personally vouch for the Gentle Micellar Antioxidant Cleanser, now £25.60 from £32. It's become my go-to in the mornings to reset and refresh my skin before the day ahead. 47 Skin's 'life-changing' skincare products for spot-prone teens are now 10% off L'Oreal anti-ageing skincare bundle with 'magic in a jar' cream is now £47 off The gel-based formula leaves my skin soft and clean without stripping or irritating my sensitive complexion, even after over a month of constant use. That's because instead of hyaluronic acid, it uses Hyaluroset Complex (a botanical alternative) to hydrate and support the skin barrier. Another great way to dip into the collection is with The Outset's Daily Essenial Travel Set, now £30.40 from £38. Inside, shoppers will find three minis of the bestsellers: the aforementioned Gentle Micellar Antioxidant Cleanser, the Firming Vegan Collagen Prep Serum and the Nourishing Squalane Daily Moisturiser. It's a fab buy for those testing the brand for the first time or packing light for a trip. Plus, it's a clever way to get three products for around £10 each. Scarlett isn't the only Hollywood name in the skincare game. Fenty Skin by Rihanna is a popular choice, with the Butta Drop Whipped Oil Body Cream being a particularly popular choice with fans. Otherwise, Haus Labs is Lady Gaga's vegan-friendly skincare line, available at Sephora. I haven't tried the skincare yet, but I was seriously impressed with the Clear Cut Liquid Eyeliner, £25, which helped me achieve a flawless winged look with little effort. I'm not the only one impressed with The Outset, though. The Gentle Micellar Antioxidant Cleanser has had plenty of great reviews online, with one shopper saying: "Amazing new favourite for me, it's a gel cleanser that feels a bit like aloe vera gel. It's not drying and leaves the skin feeling clean and fresh, amazing for summer." A second person chimed in: "This is such a lovely, gentle cleanser, especially for those who have sensitive skin. Very lightly foaming, it cleanses well, and the skin never feels dry or tight afterwards. It has no scent, which is sometimes preferable to some, especially those with sensitivities." However, this mixed review notes: "The cleaner was okay. But for the price point, I expected to be blown away. This was not the case. Just stick to a basic cleanser." But a Gentle Micellar Antioxidant Cleanser fan piped up: "It's great for sensitive skin. It makes my skin feel clean, and it does take off my make-up quite well, and also it's not scented."
