Bilingual performance in Dorset to mark Ukraine's 'resilience'
The Dorset Ukrainian community have partnered with a local charity to mark the third anniversary of the war in their home country.Founder Anastasia Pikalova has been working with DEED, a global education and learning centre in Dorset, to create a special bilingual performance at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Poole.The Sisterhood of Stories shares the real-life stories of Ukrainian women who have endured the hardships of war and displacement. Ms Pikalova said it was important the "very strong, emotional and moving" stories were shared in both languages.
Ms Pikalova has lived in the UK for 12 years, but still has family in Ukraine, and said "not knowing what will be three years on is the worst situation to be in"."Of course Ukrainian people here feel safe, they can continue to live and raise their children but unfortunately our brothers, husbands they continue to die at this terrible war," she said.She said when the war started and people were beginning to come over the group of volunteers helped with information, host families, and language schools.The aim of the event, to be held later, is to raise awareness of the conflict, mark Ukrainians' resilience and show solidarity with those impacted by war.DEED is a local charity that supports education as encourages teachers, pupils and community members to develop their understanding of global issues and cultural diversity.Louise Bosten-Mammor, from DEED, said she met Anastasia and the community group a few years ago. She said: "Once I found out that they were singers, dancers, and they played instruments and they were all so talented these women. "We thought the best way for them to tell their story was through this multimedia performance."

Jo and Sam's dad Andrew said they were "devastated" in an emotional tribute. They added: "Sam left us far too soon, and while words will never fully capture the light, joy and energy he brought into our lives, we hold on to the memories that made him so special." 'Matilda cake' launches in Tesco but chocolate fans hesitate over price
A 24-layer sweet treat inspired by Bruce Bogtrotter's cake in the classic children's book and film, Matilda, was launched in Tesco recently, but many fans cannot get past the price Chocolate fans are buzzing after spotting a delicious chocolate cake that resembles the iconic cake from book and film Matilda. We all remember when Bruce Bogtrotter was caught stealing a slice of scary head teacher Miss Trunchbull's chocolate cake - and, as punishment, was forced to chomp through an entire 18-inch cake. The sweet treat has become well-known and many people have tried to recreate their own versions at home. But if you are not a great baker, or simply don't have the time or equipment, brands and bakeries have also recreated their own versions of the famous cake. Leeds-based bakery Baked released a 24-inch layered cake named Bertha in London's Fortnum Mason earlier this year. And now, Tesco has brought out a 'Matilda cake' that you can pick up in stores nationwide. However, some people are concerned about how much it costs. Created by Lancashire's Studio Bakery, it is a 24-layer chocolate treat featuring 'scrumptious all-butter sponge made with dark chocolate, layered and covered in luscious chocolate ganache,' according to Tesco's website. It is also said be "fantastic" when served hot, if you warm it up in the microwave for 30-40 seconds. Studio Bakery said: "Our chocolate Matilda cake is a 24-layer love letter to chocolate in all its fudgy, gooey glory. Every slice is hand-cut, hand-finished, and properly decadent, making it perfect for parties, birthdays, or a solo moment of glory with a spoon and zero regrets." The product is said to served 10 people, but many chocolate lovers cannot get past its £16 price tag. It comes after @johns_snackreviews on Instagram shared a post and said: "NEW Matilda Cake by the Studio Bakery! Out now at Tesco for £16!" "16 quid for cake! No ta," commented one. "£16. Is it worth that price?" added another. One other said: "Omg need, but £16?" Meanwhile, after @newsfoodspotteruk shared a video of the cake online, one commented: "Bruce Bogtrotter is on his way to Tesco." One other insisted it looks "unreal". The product is available online or in Tesco stores. Tesco has been contacted for a comment. Wynne Evans teary as he says 'I wanted to end my life' over Strictly scandal

More info Opera singer Wynne Evans struggled to hold back tears as he opened up about the Strictly Come Dancing scandal that left him feeling suicidal during an emotional interview on This Morning. The 53-year-old Welsh singer has faced a turbulent few months after being dropped by the BBC following an apology saying that he used "inappropriate language" during the launch of the Strictly Come Dancing tour. On Wednesday, Wynne emotionally revealed that the "relentless" scandal had pushed him to his lowest point. Wynne said: "I've had clinical depression since 2016, I was diagnosed. I want to talk about it today because I want other people to find strength from that. It took me to the darkest point in my life." (Image: ITV) Choking back tears, he recalled the devastating moment he told his girlfriend, to whom he recently got engaged to: "I remember saying to my girlfriend: 'I have to kill myself, I have to...'" Wynne's voice cracked as he fought to compose himself. He credited his loved ones for their unwavering support during his darkest hour, saying: "I was on the crisis team for a month, and they just looked after me the whole time", reports Wales Online. "My friends, family, and girlfriend had a rota so they could be with me 24 hours a day, sitting up with me because it was just so relentless." The interview comes as the Welsh opera singer, known for the insurance advertisements, announced last month that he will no longer be a BBC Radio Wales presenter. Wynne revealed in January that he would be taking some time out from both his radio show and the Strictly tour to prioritise his wellbeing. A spokesperson for the BBC recently said: "Wynne Evans is not under contract with the BBC. He is not returning to the mid-morning show on BBC Radio Wales, and there are currently no plans to work with him."
