A MAN in his 70s has tragically died after a car slid down an embankment onto busy railway tracks.
Cops raced to the railway line close to Stray Rein, Harrogate, after reports of a car on the tracks at 3.19pm on Friday.

Officers who attended found someone inside a silver VW Golf on the tracks.
Despite the best efforts of emergency crews, the driver was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicle was travelling on York Place before it left the road and went down the railway embankment.
North Yorkshire Police is now appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage taken in the area.

Cops said his family is being supported by specialist officers.
Superintendent Andy Nunns from North Yorkshire Police said: 'There is currently a scene in place for collision investigation work to take place.
'York Place in Harrogate is likely to remain closed for most of this evening and the railway line between Harrogate and Leeds is likely to be closed for most of the night.
'We will continue to work with Network Rail and the British Transport Police to minimise disruption.

" My thoughts at this time remain very much with the man's family and I would like to thank the public for their patience.'

Two bodies discovered below cliffs at tourist spot
The bodies of a man and a woman were discovered on rocks below cliffs at Whitby Abbey in North Yorkshire. A member of the public reported the discovery to North Yorkshire Police at 7:16 PM on Wednesday evening. Emergency services, including the Coastguard and a helicopter, recovered the bodies by 8:24 PM due to the incoming tide. Paramedics confirmed the deaths at the scene, and the bodies were subsequently taken to hospital by ambulance. Police are currently working to trace the next of kin and are investigating the circumstances of the deaths for a coroner's report. Man who defrauded disabled woman of £15,000 jailed
A man who has "never shown remorse" for defrauding a disabled woman of more than £15,000 has been jailed for 21 Wiles, of High Row, Malton, befriended and pressured the woman to transfer him payments over the course of more than two years, starting in November victim, from Scarborough, said: "I genuinely believed that Robert was a friend who was looking out for me and trying to help me. I feel that he has ruined my life."Wiles, 36, admitted fraud by false representation in June, and was sentenced at York Crown Court. The victim, who is unable to work due to mental and physical health issues, said she had not received any compensation for the £15,144.49 she lost."I would love to move away from the area so I can get away from him, but I have no way of affording this now," she was arrested after the victim confided in someone during a hospital stay, who then reported the matter to police in March investigation found he had even persuaded the woman to change bank after concerns were raised by her original provider about the online Con Palmer added: "Almost every month during the period of the fraud, she was left with hardly any benefits in her bank account."I truly hope she can find some comfort knowing that he has finally faced justice for what he has put her through."
