Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are mourning the loss of their rescue dog.
The former talk show host and her wife's beloved Beagle-Chihuahua mix, Augie, sadly passed away on May 15.

The couple took in the pooch more than a decade ago.

Sharing a series of photographs of Augie chilling around their home, Ellen wrote on Instagram on May 16: "We had to say goodbye to Augie yesterday. We rescued him 12 years ago and he was so grateful.
"He gave us so much love. He will be missed. There will never be another like him."
The couple's devastating loss comes after they relocated to the English countryside after 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' backlash.

The pair bought a property in the Cotswolds after being spotted at The Farmer's Dog - a pub owned by Clarkson's Farm' host Jeremy Clarkson.
Ellen hosted the last episode of her long-running TV talk-show in May 2022.
Prior to that, Portia quit acting to focus her attention on General Public, the art curation and publishing company that she owns.

In December, Ellen denied a report suggesting her farmhouse had flooded.
The MailOnline suggested the 67-year-old comic's Cotswolds estate was badly affected by the severe weather in the south west of England as Storm Bert brought torrential rain and winds up to 80mph to parts of the country, but Ellen poured cold water on the speculation.
The six-bedroom property boasts 43-acres of land, and it was claimed that a stream flowing into the Thames River alongside the property burst its banks.

The outlet quoted a neighbour as saying: "The flood waters are rising by the hour. This is the worst I have seen it in years."
However, Ellen insisted all was well.
To mark 20 years since she started dating "beautiful soul" Portia, 52, Ellen shared a selfie of the pair in the English countryside and wrote: "20 years ago today we began this relationship not realizing what a long beautiful adventure this would be. You are the best thing that ever happened in my life. You take care of me. You help me see the good in everything.

"You help to guide me and pick me up when I feel off or down. You are a beautiful soul that I am so very grateful to have as a partner to navigate this crazy life with. (sic)"
Ellen concluded her post by addressing the flood rumours, writing: "P.S. for those of you concerned, our U.K. farmhouse did NOT flood."
According to TMZ, the couple decided to move to the UK after president-elect Donald Trump won the 2024 US presidential election.

The tiny UK village that attracts A-list celebrities like bees to honey

The historical market town of Chipping Norton in the Cotswolds boasts only around 6,500 residents - and more of them than one might expect are A-list celebrities. Often fondly called 'Chippy' by locals, the charming, honey-colored stone village sits in an Area of Outstanding Beauty - surrounded by rolling hills and picturesque countryside, which offer a quintessential English landscape. So it's no wonder that Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia Del Rossi chose the town after fleeing the US late last year, a decision that they made in the wake of Donald Trump's re-election as President. The couple were in glamorous company as residents of Chipping Norton. Such is the influx of the celebrity elite that they have a collective moniker – 'The Chipping Norton Set'. 'Yes. We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, 'He got in.' And we're like, 'We're staying here,'' Ellen said last weekend at an event at Everyman theatre in nearby Cheltenham. The couple have subsequently sold the property, citing the lack of horse stables, but Ellen has professed her love for the area, prompting speculation that they'll stay in the Cotswolds. 'We're just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture – everything you see is charming, and it's just a simpler way of life. It's clean. Everything here is just better – the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here.' Celebrities that have called the area home include Jeremy Clarkson — whose famous farm Diddly Squat is nearby — David Cameron, Jamie Oliver, Kate Moss, David and Victoria Beckham and Ellie Goulding, Princess Beatrice, Zara Tindall and Simon Cowell. Calvin Harris and his wife Vick Hope have recently won local approval by knocking down an 'ugly' local property to make way for their Cotswolds dream mansion. In fact, they hired one the Royal Family 's favourite architects to build the gaff. Local farm shop Daylesford Organic has become an iconic haunt of these A-listers and royalty, with Eddie Redmayne seen pursuing the aisles and Princess Eugenie also spotted having a browse. The town boasts a variety of independent shops, including antique stores and a regular market, alongside a diverse selection of pubs and restaurants. For anyone looking to upgrade to full members club luxury, Soho Farmhouse is just down the road, which is frequented by stars from Rita Ora to Meghan Markle (who reportedly held her hen do there) and Taylor Swift, who hired a £3.3m cottage near Chipping Norton during her Eras tour in 2024. Every year former Blur bassist and local cheesemaker Alex James throws the Big Feastival in nearby Kingham, which "brings together music from the UK's biggest artists, Michelin-starred chefs, award-winning street food and an exciting array of family activities". This August, revellers will be able to see Nelly Furtado, The Rizzle Kicks and the Wombats hit the stage. The addition of these famous-folk has had a mixed reaction locally, though. Unhappy homeowners have rejected plans for 350 new homes near to Clarkson's Diddly Squat Farm. Others believe the influx of tourists is good for the area, but is pushing prices up.

Speaking to Gay Times Magazine, John opened up about his experiences in the TV industry. The baker and presenter said: "I think the deeper conversation here is about welfare generally within the TV industry. I think that is still very much an elusive beast. "As soon as Strictly finishes, it's like, get out the hotel, get out the flat, go home, but that is a life- altering event for the individual who's been subject to the headlines, often at the hand of these shows, because these shows sometimes feed stories to the media. "TV is manipulative and it's a distortion of truth, there's always an ulterior motive. "People aren't being fed the unadulterated, objective truth. And I certainly don't subscribe to that." Continuing, John recounted how he was "around 23" during his time on Bake Off. He recalled thinking his "existence hinged on being successful in television." John added: "But I think when you go through all these different permutations of your life, you start to realise that the b******t just does not matter. "What actually matters is your health, your sanity, your loved ones, your family, be it biological or chosen." Strictly and OnlyFans star John Whaite opens up on health struggle, saying 'it makes life almost unbearable' Elsewhere in the interview, John revealed a family member had called him "disgusting" due to his OnlyFans content. The Sun previously revealed how he made a return to the platform earlier this year. 'He's in amazing shape and is proud of how far he has come. 'He's says it really has nothing to do with money and it's not about helping fund his bakery business. 'John doesn't care what anyone else thinks. "He's really happy with the content he is creating.'

Ellen DeGeneres admits 'we just can't keep up' amid struggle with new life in UK

Former talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres has opened up about the continuous challenges of adapting to rural life in England with wife Portia de Rossi since relocating from the US Ellen DeGeneres has opened up about life in the English countryside following her move to the UK with wife Portia de Rossi in November 2024. In a recent interview in Cheltenham with journalist Richard Bacon, the former talk show host discussed adjusting to rural life, the couple's unexpected struggles with livestock, and the ongoing challenges facing LGBTQ+ rights in the United States. ‌ DeGeneres, 67, described how she and de Rossi initially embraced their new surroundings, attempting to maintain the land around their home by riding lawn mowers daily to manage the pastures for their horses. However, the effort soon became overwhelming for them both. ‌ 'We just can't keep up with this,' DeGeneres recalled telling de Rossi, who then suggested they bring in sheep to help with the overgrowth. According to DeGeneres, the idea quickly spiralled into a series of huge complications. ‌ "[Portia] said, 'Let's just get four sheep to put in the pastures with the horses,' and we did. And the next morning they were just out and they were gone. They just climbed right out and then I had to buy electric fencing." The fencing did not solve the issue for the couple as the former talk-show host explained: 'They were in there for a week. Then one got out and then they all got out. And then I was like I have to build an actual fence. So we built a fence and it was so ugly, it ruined everything. So I had to pay to take the fence down.' ‌ She continued, 'I spent so much money on those sheep. I can't even tell you how much those sheep cost. It was Portia's idea.' DeGeneres also noted the added burden of the constant cleanup as she said: 'They used the restroom everywhere, and the dog would get to it.' ‌ Despite the mishaps, the couple have still been exploring various parts of the UK since moving across the pond last November. DeGeneres humorously remarked on British place names, admitting she had trouble pronouncing them. 'This is Cheltenham right? I don't go, 'Chelten-ham.' Y'all are in such a hurry with your names. It should [be] 'By-sister,' but it's 'Bicester,' right?' She joked that town names must have been created with little time to spare: 'We don't have time for that.' ‌ During the interview, DeGeneres also addressed more serious concerns, particularly regarding LGBTQ+ rights in the U.S. 'The Baptist church in America is trying to reverse gay marriage. They're trying to at the very least stop it from happening in the future and possibly reverse it.' She revealed that she and de Rossi are already preparing for the potential impact of U.S. policies. 'Portia and I are already looking into it and if they do that, we're going to get married here in Cheltenham. Have cheese on us,' she said.
