Moment gunman opens fire in the middle of the street after brawl breaks out in Birmingham

Daily Mail4 days ago

Shocking footage has captured the terrifying moment a gunman opened fire in the middle of a residential street in Birmingham.
Police were called following reports of shots being fired at around 2.am on Sunday morning amid a brawl on Kenrick Croft, in Castle Vale.
In a chilling video clip, a hooded figure is seen sending two shots in the direction of a group of people while women's screams can be heard in the background.
The gunman then runs towards the direction of the camera as officers were quickly scrambled to the scene.
A 40-year-old man and 41-year-old woman have since been arrested on suspicion of disorder and possession of a firearm. Both are in custody for questioning.
Meanwhile, a 43-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of the same offences, was hospitalised following the incident. He is set to be questioned in due course.
West Midlands Police said that officers had received reports of a group involved in a 'melee' and that, at present, no individuals had sustained gunshot injuries.
A spokesperson for the force said: 'We're investigating after disorder where gunshots were fired in Kenrick Croft, Castle Vale, at around 2am yesterday (1 June).
'It's understood a group were involved in a melee but no-one was present when officers arrived.
'At this stage, no-one is understood to have sustained gunshot injuries.
'Following enquiries we later arrested three people on suspicion of being connected to the disorder.'
Officers confirmed they are carrying out 'extensive enquiries' to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, alongside who was involved.
They also assured members of the public that the force has 'stepped up reassurance patrols'.
Any individuals with information related to the incident are asked to contact the force either via the Live Chat on their website, or by calling 101, quoting log 446 of 1/6/25.
The appalling footage comes following a broad daylight shooting in April that killed a 60-year-old father, with the horrific moment captured on camera.
Shots were fired through blinds into the terraced house in Stanley, County Durham, on Saturday April 5, before cries of 'they killed my dad ' could be heard.
A video, which circulated on local WhatsApp groups and social media platforms, shows two people approach the property on Elm Street at 5.17pm.
One of them appears to break a window while the other pulls out a gun, and a shot is then heard as it is fired, before two people run off and cries of panic are heard.
Durham Constabulary officers confirmed they were called to the property at about 5.20pm after reports of a 'disturbance', where a man was found to have been shot.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, the 60-year-old man - named locally as Barry Dawson, also known as 'Buck' - was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bargain Hunt expert jailed for failing to report art sales to ‘Hezbollah financier'

A BBC Bargain Hunt art expert who failed to report a series of high-value art sales to a man suspected of financing militant group Hezbollah has been jailed for two-and-a-half years. Oghenochuko Ojiri, 53, sold artwork worth around £140,000 to Nazem Ahmad, a man designated by US authorities as a suspected financier for the Lebanese organisation, a court hearing was told last month. Ojiri, of Brent, north London, previously pleaded guilty to eight offences under section 21A of the Terrorism Act 2000. He is believed to be the first person to be charged with the specific offence. The art dealer, who has also appeared on the BBC's Antiques Road Trip, was charged with failing to disclose information about transactions in the regulated art market sector on or before dates between October 2020 and December 2021. US prosecutors say Mr Ahmad was a 'major Hezbollah financial donor' who used high-value art and diamonds to launder money and fund the group. He is accused of evading terrorism sanctions by using front companies to acquire more than 160 million dollars (£120 million) in artwork and diamond services. Following the introduction of new money laundering regulations in January 2020 that brought the art market under HMRC supervision, Ojiri is said to have discussed the changes with a colleague, indicating awareness of the rules. The court previously heard the total value of the artwork sold was around £140,000. Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb sentenced Ojiri to two years and six months in prison at the Old Bailey on Friday, with a further year to be spent on licence.
