Last Updated:
Wamiqa Gabbi celebrated Bhool Chuk Maaf's success with a special screening in her hometown in Chandigarh for family and friends. She expressed gratitude on social media.
Wamiqa Gabbi has been basking in the success of her recently-released film, Bhool Chuk Maaf, alongside Rajkummar Rao. Her portrayal of Titli has resonated with her loyal fan base. Despite the widespread acclaim, the moment that meant the most to her was sharing the film with her roots, the people who had been her biggest supporters from the beginning. Hence, she organised a special screening of her film in Chandigarh for her close family, childhood friends, and celebs from the Punjabi film industry.
Wamiqa took to social media to express her heartfelt gratitude. Sharing a video from the film's screening, she wrote, 'A small town girl with her big family, with bigger dreams, and the biggest support of her family and her town. My heart is full—actually, it's overflowing. I'm beyond overwhelmed with the love of my family, friends, and my Punjabi fraternity friends. And Oh! The Love! The Love! The Love! The Love! Don't wake me up from this dream please. Thank you GOD." Watch the video here:
The evening was filled with hugs, laughter, joyful tears, and immense pride. Seeing the film through the eyes of those who've seen her grow made it even more special for Wamiqa.
For the unversed, Wamiqa was one of the background dancers in Thoda Thoda Pyar song from Imtiaz's Love Aaj Kal in 2009, which starred Giselli Monteiro as Harleen Kaur. She now appears as the female lead in the Chor Bazari Phir Se track in Bhool Chuk Maaf and feels that life has finally come to full circle with the remix now.
Talking exclusively to News18 Showsha, Wamiqa said, 'Pata nahi kaisi feeling hai yeh (I don't know what kind of feeling is this). I didn't know I would feel like this. But this is something that I've been feeling, and it's overwhelming. Never thought this would happen. Sometimes people say manifest, but meine kabhi manifest sochke manifest nahi kiya. I was always thinking about things like these. And it's happening. It's coming true now. A film with Maddock, with Rajkumar Rao and Karan (Sharma) directing it with such a stellar cast, it's like a dream and now it's coming true."
'I think I realise when my friends are talking about it, when they are sending these long messages and my parents, my father commenting, that's when I'm realising, 'wow, this is a very big deal. Is this true?'" she said.
Bhool Chuk Maaf released on May 23, after few delays.
