Avantika Sundar, Sundar C and Khushbu's daughter, Set for a strong debut in Tamil films
Sundar C
and
Khushbu
, is about to make her presence felt in the world of cinema. With poise and a determination in her eyes, she's making news as she sets the stage for her debut. There's a quiet assurance in
Avantika
Sundar
as she walks into the room, her self-assured nature a reminder of her mother, veteran actress Khushbu.
Every eye is on Avantika, daughter of veteran film pair Sundar C and Khushbu, as she's set to make her presence felt in Tamil cinema. "When I first approached my mother about doing an acting role, she was encouraging.". But she also cautioned, "The film industry is not easy, it's a tough area," Avantika recalls in an interview with Cinema Vikatan.
She went to study in London a few years ago, but when she came back, the pandemic had hit.
That was the time she spent thinking, which motivated her to work on the acting more seriously. She also got a physical makeover, working tirelessly to get more fit and screen-friendlier.
Avantika reveals her transformation journey
To sharpen her skills further, Avantika returned to London to study at a drama school for six months. There, she overcame her stage fear and learned the finer aspects of acting—like expressions, movement, dialogue delivery, and screen presence.
'I took that time to build a strong foundation. Now, I'm approaching cinema with complete seriousness,' she says. She accepts comparisons to her mother as inevitable and feels honored to try and achieve the same level of passion and commitment Khushbu is famous for.
Trained in drama and performance in London
In spite of the baggage that she brings, Avantika insists that it was her own choice to enter films. "Neither of my parents pushed me into this.
They've always accorded me freedom to do what I want. When I told mom that I wanted to go into films, all she said was, 'Do your best.' That's been the kind of encouragement I've had at home," she proudly declares.
Even though a star kid, Avantika maintains that her choice of joining films was all hers
Avantika is listening to scripts right now and hasn't closed her first project yet. But she's moving step by step and with precision. "I firmly feel that I can be one of those heroine-type actresses whom people will adore. My world right now is cinema, and I'm entering it with complete concentration. Hopefully, an announcement should be made later this year," she concludes on a positive note.

Actor Dhanush appears to be making headlines once again, this time not for a film release but for his rumoured romantic link with actress Mrunal Thakur. Speculation took off after the Atrangi Re actor was seen attending Mrunal's birthday celebration on August 1. Adding fuel to the rumours, Dhanush was also spotted in Mumbai at the special screening of Son of Sardaar 2, starring Mrunal and Ajay Devgn. The premiere, held on the same day as her birthday, saw the actor flying in from Chennai for the event. A video from the night, now circulating widely on X (formerly Twitter), shows a warm exchange between the two actors. In the clip, Mrunal can be seen leaning in to speak privately with Dhanush during their brief conversation. The video was shared with the caption: 'Dhanush and Mrunal Thakur are dating?' Reactions from fans flooded social media shortly after. One user exclaimed, 'Wait what! Dhanush is dating #MrunalThakur? That's new, lol (sic).' Another chimed in with a simple, "Dhanush dating Mrunal Thakur (sic)." A third asked, 'Dhanush and Mrunal Thakur are dating? (sic).' Dhadak 2 box office collection day 4: Siddhant Chaturvedi-Triptii Dimri film struggles after slow start, earns ₹1 crore
Dhadak 2 box office collection day 4: Expectations were high for Dhadak 2, the Hindi language remake of the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal. The film, helmed by Shazia Iqbal and starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri in lead roles, received mostly positive reviews upon its release. However, that has not turned into box office numbers as the film continues to struggle amid other new releases. (Also read: Son of Sardaar 2 vs Dhadak 2 box office report card: Which sequel fared better over the weekend?) Dhadak 2 box office collection day 4: Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri shared screen space for the first time in the film. Dhadak 2 box office update As per the latest update on Sacnilk, Dhadak 2 collected ₹1.04 crore on its fourth day of release (as per early estimates), its lowest so far. A dip in collection on Monday is expected, but that has hurt the momentum of the film, especially given that the film has not shown considerable growth during the weekend. Its highest single-day collections were recorded on Sunday, with ₹ 4.15 crore. The overall collection now stands at ₹ 12.44 crore. Dhadak 2 had an overall 12.75% Hindi Occupancy on Monday. Dhadak 2 is facing stiff competition from multiple releases, including Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardaar 2, animation epic Mahavatar Narsimha, and the blockbuster Saiyaara. About Dhadak 2 Dhadak 2 is a standalone sequel to the 2018 Dhadak. However, it is not connected to the original narrative or characters. It tells the tale of a law student who falls for his classmate, only for her family to harass him due to caste differences. It is produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, Zee Studios and Cloud 9 Pictures. Dhadak 2 was initially slated to hit the big screen in November 2024, but it experienced several delays following the reported hurdles with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). These hurdles were resolved only recently after the makers agreed to significant cuts and modifications to the film.

This 2-hour 20-minute drama-thriller will leave you speechless, is trending on OTT, has bone-chilling climax, with 8.9 rating of IMDb, movie name is…
There's drama out there that quietly unsettles you from the very first scene. It doesn't yell for attention. Instead, it draws you into a sense of unease, as if a hidden puzzle is just beneath the surface. By the time the credits roll, after about 2 hours and 20 minutes, you realize it's not just another thriller. The ending stays with you, a twist so unexpected that it reframes everything you thought you'd seen. Which film is this? Here we are talking about DNA, a 2025 Tamil-language investigative drama‑thriller directed by Nelson Venkatesan. The story centers on a couple who believe their newborn child has been swapped shortly after birth. As the wife grows increasingly certain something is wrong, the husband starts pursuing the truth, search that becomes the spine of the film, revealing a grim conspiracy far larger than a mere hospital error. What is the storyline? The central conflict plays out with Atharvaa Murali as Anand, man haunted by his past, and Nimisha Sajayan as Divya, a woman living with borderline personality disorder who insists her child isn't theirs. Their marriage and the emotional rabbit hole they fall into add weight to the mystery unfolding around them. Supportive performances by Ramesh Thilak, Balaji Sakthivel, Viji Chandrasekar, Chetan, Riythvika KP, and others bring dimension to the investigation. How was the reception of DNA? When it reached theaters on June 20, 2025, DNA drew praise for its tightly-woven narrative, technical polish, and the way it balanced emotional urgency with suspenseful pacing. Critics gave it between 3 to 3.5 out of 5 stars, noting that although it faced some clichés and unnecessary detours (like fabricated songs or melodramatic moments), it remained gripping enough to sit through its length without losing momentum. More about DNA Now, for streaming: DNA is available to watch on JioHotstar (also known as Disney+ Hotstar), beginning July 19, 2025, in five languages—Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, complete with subtitles. It's also accessible through OTTplay Premium, widening its reach across the country. Overall, DNA offers more than just thrills. It thoughtfully explores parenthood, mental health, and corruption behind medical institutions.
