Oprah Winfrey called to assist with Prince Harry's 'duck problem'
The 71-year-old media mogul lives close to the Duke of Sussex and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, in California and she recalled rushing to the couple's aid over the Easter weekend when they discovered ducklings in their back yard but had nowhere suitable to settle them.
Speaking to Kelly Ripa on her Let's Talk Off Camera podcast, Opera said: "I get a call from Harry, Prince Harry, on Easter Saturday, and he says, 'Sorry to bother you, O, but we have a duck problem here.'
"A duck had come into their yard and laid their eggs and had these chicks.
"And he said, 'Our pond is a stream, we don't have a pond, so can we bring the ducks over to your pond?' "
Oprah agreed but asked Harry to wait because her best friend Gayle King's grandchildren were coming to visit and would like to see the spectacle, but the 40-year-old prince - who has Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four, with wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex - insisted he needed to move the creatures immediately.
She continued: "I said, 'Wait until I can get the kids to come down to the pond so they can see you put the ducks in the pond.' And he goes, 'No, we're coming right away, we're coming over!' "
But the cute scene turnned to chaos when the "mama duck" fled and the trio had to chase her, providing the "funniest thing" Oprah had ever seen.
She said: "As he opens the door, the mama duck flies out. And he's got all the baby ducks in a box.
"We're chasing the mama duck who is in the front yard and has flown to the other side. We've got her ducks. Harry's running after, Meghan gets out, she's running after, chasing the mom and trying to get her to come back to her ducks.
"And for like half an hour, we're running around with the ducks in a box. We have video. It's the funniest thing I've ever seen."
Kelly joked the duck had been very shrewd in choosing a nesting spot.
She laughed: "The ducks also hit the jackpot.
"They're like, 'Wait a minute, we show up at Prince Harry's house and now we're at Oprah's!' Excuse me. That duck knew what it was doing when it laid its eggs."
Meghan had shared a clip of the ducks on her Instagram page over Easter.
She captioned the video: "Wishing you a Happy Easter full of love….and surprises!"

Ellen DeGeneres has confirmed she and her wife, Australian actress Portia de Rossi, permanently relocated to the UK after Donald Trump's return to the White House. Portia and I are already looking into it, and if they do that, we're going to get married here." She continued: "I wish we were at a place where it was not scary for people to be who they are. I wish that we lived in a society where everybody could accept other people and their differences." DeGeneres' revelation follows a wave of celebrity moves out of the US, including fellow comedian and Trump hater Rosie O'Donnell, who recently relocated to Ireland with her 12-year-old child. "Good for you @Rosie," DeGeneres wrote on Instagram last week, alongside a screenshot of Trump's Truth Social post claiming he was "giving serious consideration" to revoking his long-time nemesis's US citizenship. More recently, DeGeneres publicly condemned the Trump administration's move to shut down The Trevor Project, a national suicide prevention service for LGBTQ+ youth. "I helped launch the Trevor Project over 30 years ago. What kind of person would do this?" she posted on Instagram on Saturday. When she's not hitting out at Trump or sharing throwbacks from her now-cancelled daytime show, DeGeneres has been delighting her 135 million Instagram followers with snaps of her new life in the British countryside. "Everything here is just better- the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here," she told Bacon. "Does not belong in the Cotswolds," one user commented under a Luxury Listings post showcasing the property, earning more than 200 likes (at time of writing). Another wrote: "I'd rather have a gorgeous traditional Cotswolds manor that pays tribute to the history of the area," with over 700 likes. "That house doesn't reflect the Cotswolds whatsoever.
