Lady Gaga Debuts New Song Co-Written With Fiance Michael Polansky During FireAid Concert Finale
After almost six hours of FireAid, Lady Gaga ended the historic Los Angeles event by debuting a new song co-written with her fiance Michael Polansky, an upbeat number that she said was 'just for tonight.'
Gaga kept the theatrics to a minimum following a night stacked with spectacle, remaining behind the piano with a backing band for the performance. She began with 'Shallow,' her hit from her 2018 film 'A Star Is Born,' taking a moment to address the crowd and explain how despite the devastation in Los Angeles, it's created a moment of unity.

'Thank you, I love you,' she said. 'This has been a horrible, scary time, but during these times, I feel like people come together and we see how much we need each other. And I want to always remember us just like this.'
After a piano rendition of piano renditions of 'Always Remember Us This Way,' she introduced the new song — potentially titled 'All I Need Is Time' or 'Time Is a Healer' — by explaining that she wrote it specifically for FireAid with Polansky. 'When I was thinking bout what to sing tonight, I thought I'd do something hopeful for you, and I was thinking about y songs and nothing seemed quite right,' she said. 'So me and my friend Michael, my fiance, my love, we wrote this song for you. It's just for tonight, it's just for you. I think we all need a lot of things right now, but I think something we also may need is time. Time is a healer.'
What followed was a bouncy tune with an uplifting message. 'Wish that God would find a different way to remind me what it's like to pray / Wish that I could turn this storm around and I cannot find a different way,' she sings leading into the chorus. 'All I need is time, all I need is time / All I need is time to heal my broken wings and then I'll soar / All I need is time to leave it all behind / All I need is time to leave it all behind and keep moving forward.'
Gaga is gearing up for the release of her upcoming album 'Mayhem,' out on March 7. She capped off an evening that featured a concluding run of performances from Sting, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stevie Wonder, Billie Eilish, Peso Pluma and Olivia Rodrigo. Other artists who graced the stages at Intuit Dome and Kia Forum included Green Day, No Doubt, Graham Nash, Dawes and more.
FireAid benefitted relief efforts for those impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires, which burned through much of the Pacific Palisades, Altadena and Malibu. Proceeds went toward initiatives via the Annenberg Foundation.

Heels, Flesh and Fashion: A Dancer, Wild and Free, Finds Her Way
Lexee Smith sees dance as a kind of alchemy. She has amassed years of training, but for her, the body holds a deeper power than the ability to spin or to soar through the air. In her hypnotic movement studies, dance states become trance states. Smith, 24, makes her living in commercial dance in Los Angeles, working with artists like Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish and Addison Rae. But Smith is an outlier: an experimental dancer living inside a commercial world. While known for her work with pop stars, Smith also creates Instagram videos that float across the screen like dance poems. It's here that she shows the experimental side of her artistry, where dance is a form of self-discovery. 'Nothing feels as serious as just me and me sometimes,' she said. Beyond muscular elasticity, an airy wingspan and tensile strength, there are heels, flesh and fabric. Fashion is important — not as a costume, but as way to give movement color and depth. It's about living out a second skin. Want all of The Times? Subscribe.

Nirvana's ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit' Video Hits Two Billion YouTube Views
'Here we are now, entertain us.' You asked for it and Nirvana provided. The iconic grunge trio's beloved video for breakthrough 1991 hit 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' has just crossed the two billion views mark on YouTube. The Samuel Bayer-directed clip in which late singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain and company rock a high school gym into a frenzy debuted on MTV in the fall of 1991, quickly catapulting the group to global superstardom. While the majority of the YouTube music videos with two billion or more views are from pop, Latin, country and hip-hop artists including Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, Katy Perry, Enrique Iglesias, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, Adele, Ed Sheeran, Shakira and Alan Walker, there are a handful of other rock videos that have reached that storied height. 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' was first uploaded to YouTube at 2009 and hit the one billion mark in 2019. Two months after its release, the song that defined a generation topped Billboard's Alternative Songs chart on Nov. 23, 1991 and peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. The unlikely long-for-pop-radio five minute hit featuring such obtuse lyrics as 'A mulatto, an albino a mosquito, my libido' and a visual in which band members Cobain, drummer Dave Grohl and bassist Krist Novoselic thrash about as anarchist cheerleaders whip teens into a frenzy in a smoke-shrouded gymnasium was the unlikeliest hits at a time when Bryan Adams, Michael Bolton, Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men ruled the charts. But the song helped the band's second studio album, Nevermind, climb the charts and end then chart king Michael Jackson's run at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart on Jan. 11, 1992 when it pushed his Dangerous album from the to of the heap.
