Joseph Morales immediately eyeing flyweight title picture after 'TUF 33,' UFC 319 win
Morales (13-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) forced Idiris (10-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) to tap to a triangle choke in the second round of their bout to open the event at United Center in Chicago. The fight was the flyweight tournament final of Season 33 of "The Ultimate Fighter," and made Morales the latest to wear the crown.
Morales was in the UFC in 2018 and went 1-2. His comeback from regional scene to "The Ultimate Fighter" to now winner of the show and back in the UFC is one he said he's glad to be the owner of.
Morales was the top overall pick by coach Chael Sonnen on the show. Despite that, Idiris was more than a 4-1 betting favorite in the fight.
"To me, it felt like this was my chance," Morales said at his post-fight news conference. "If I lost, they're not going to call me back because I already had the opportunity. For him, he's probably going to get a call back (even though he lost). He's a great fighter. He put on a good show throughout the whole season."
With the pressure of what he thought was his last chance behind him, and the push of a "TUF" title now like wind at his back, Morales is staunch in what he thinks the future holds.
"Oh, this is the start of a title run," he said. "This is the start of a title run. I know I said that the first time I was here, but I've been working my f*cking ass off. I don't think I've ever trained harder for a fight.
"… Noche UFC would be f*cking sick. That would be f*cking sick. But if not (in September), I do want to fight maybe in October or November and keep this every three months thing would be amazing – and just keep it healthy and keep it running. The end goal is the championship, and however close we can get to that."

Michael Page '100 percent' down to fight Carlos Prates at UFC Rio de Janeiro
CHICAGO – To many, the idea of fighting dangerous striker Carlos Prates in his home country of Brazil might not be too appealing. However, it is for Michael Page. Both Page and Prates competed and won at Saturday's UFC 319 with Page outpointing veteran Jared Cannonier at 185 pounds, and Prates viciously knocking out Geoff Neal at welterweight. After Prates's finish, the Brazilian called for a spot on the UFC Fight Night event scheduled to go down in Rio de Janeiro on Oct. 11, which UFC CEO Dana WHite said he'd grant. The missing piece here is a willing dance partner, but Page is more than willing to fill that role. "100 percent, 100 percent," Page said at the UFC 319 post-fight press conference when asked if he'd be down to fight Prates. "You're not hitting me with that spinning elbow, I'm telling you that right now. But yeah, 100 percent, that's a great fight. It's those kinds of fights that I want, those kinds of fights I'm calling on. If he's happy, I'll happily put my hand up, and I would love to go to Brazil. I've had fans in Brazil for many years. I remember being called the 'U.K. Anderson Silva,' which is a massive compliment. I have a load of fans in Brazil, and I still haven't managed to get over there." Although the event is not too far away, that's no problem for Page. Despite fighting the full 15 minutes, unlike Prates, who got a first-round finish, Page said he's healthy and ready to prep for a fight. "No damage – no real damage," Page said. "A little sore leg slightly, but that's normal when people try to go for your legs and stuff, kicking your legs. Nothing. I'll be fine in a week. That sounds good to me."

Baisangur Susurkaev says he'll be middleweight champ within two years after UFC 319
CHICAGO – Baisangur Susurkaev met with MMA Junkie and other media members Saturday after his win over Tom Nolan at UFC 319. Susurkaev (10-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) got put through some first-round adversity to close out the preliminary card at United Center in Chicago, but ultimately made good on his massive pre-fight betting odds as a more than 10-1 favorite in the middleweight bout against Nolan (9-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) when he tapped him with a second-round rear-naked choke. Susurkaev was making his UFC debut, but it came only four days after he won a fight – and the adoration of UFC CEO Dana White – on DWCS to earn a contract. He said he wanted to be on UFC 319 as an undercard fight for his countryman Khamzat Chimaev, and White obliged. Then Susurkaev obliged with his second win in four days. And that DWCS bout? That one came on four days' notice, as well, as a fill-in. Now that Susurkaev has made a big name for himself early, he doesn't want to slow down too much. He's eyeing one more fight this year – and maybe a second. "I'm hoping for New York (in November). I really would like to fight in September, but I do feel like I have an injury in my foot, so I don't know if I'll be ready in time," Susurkaev said. But he knows the trajectory he wants to take. And even though Chimaev won the middleweight title a few fights after Susurkaev won his bout, he plans on having that belt one day, too. Chimaev has had high praise for Susurkaev, as well – and even said the 24-year-old fighter is better than him. "I don't think he really means it when he says it," Susurkaev said. "Of course I'm not better than him. He's the best. "In two more years, I'm going to be champion. I don't need it fast. One month, two months to get ready for the next fight, and I'm ready. Carlos Prates labels Leon Edwards as 'first option' for UFC Rio de Janeiro
CHICAGO – Carlos Partes just wants to throw down on home soil – everything else is a bonus. Following his devastating knockout win at UFC 319, Prates (22-7 MMA, 5-1 UFC) took the microphone, pointed at UFC CEO Dana White, and called for a fight on the Oct. 11 UFC Fight Night event that's scheduled to go down in Rio de Janeiro. Fortunately for Prates, he immediately got the approval and the news on a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus. However, Prates wasn't done. He went on to call out a former UFC welterweight champion before exciting the cage. "I think the co-main event in Rio should be Carlos Prates against Leon Edwards," Prates said in his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. "All respect for that guy, but the time is now." Meanwhile, UFC star Michael Page spoke to the media backstage after his decision win over Jared Cannonier. He was asked about potentially fighting Prates, and he was all in. Prates likes the matchup, but prefers getting a former UFC champion for his return. "Anybody who steps in the cage, but Rio, Oct. 11, I'll be there," Prates said backstage speaking with reporters. "The first option, of course, is Leon. I'm here to fight the best guys in the world so I can prove I'm the best in the world, so anybody who steps in the cage, I'm going to be there." If the promotion goes the Page route, Prates wouldn't be bothered. He likes the fight and said "Venom" was someone he had been watching for some time. "It's going to be good. It's going to be an interesting fight," Prates said regarding a potential fight with Page. "He inspired me for a long time, so if UFC give me him, that's OK: Let's fight."
