Amir Coffey signs with Milwaukee Bucks on training camp deal
However, that was not enough to get Coffey a standard NBA contract. He signed on Thursday with the Milwaukee Bucks, a story broken by Shams Charania of ESPN, but this is a training camp only contract for Coffey, reports Eric Nehm of The Athletic.
Milwaukee already has the maximum of 15 players under contract for next season (and the veteran Coffey does not qualify for a two-way contract). Technically, the contract of Andre Jackson Jr. is not fully guaranteed. If the Bucks were willing to eat the $800,000 buyout price, they could let Jackson Jr. go and keep Coffey. It was thought that Jackson and Thanasis Antetokounmpo might battle it out in camp for that final roster spot, now Coffey's name is in that mix.
This is a quality pickup for the Bucks — they need depth at the three and Coffey slots right in. It's a little surprising that reuniting with Doc Rivers — his first coach with the Clippers — was the best offer on the table for Coffey, but if the Bucks keep him around, he adds solid regular-season depth to a roster that could use it.

Milwaukee had barely pulled out the previous two games in Cincinnati for its longest streak ever within one season and the longest in the majors since the St. Louis Cardinals won 17 straight from Sept. 11 to Sept. 28, 2021. This time, Spencer Steer's sacrifice bunt in the 10th advanced designated runner TJ Friedl to third. After intentional walks to Elly De La Cruz and Will Benson loaded the bases, Hays laced a single to down the third-base line for his second career walk-off hit. Milwaukee, which overcame a seven-run deficit on Friday and rallied to win in 14 innings Saturday, nearly came back for another win. William Contreras hit his 13th home run of the season, a two-run shot off Reds closer Emilio Pagán, to put Milwaukee ahead 2-1 in the ninth. But the Reds tied it when Benson reached on a fielding error by shortstop Joey Ortiz and later scored on Jose Trevino's single. ADVERTISEMENT The first-place Brewers fell to 53-17 in their last 70 games. The game was scoreless through six innings with Reds left-hander Andrew Abbott and Brewers lefty Jose Quintana allowing a combined six hits with 11 strikeouts. NBA views Thunder-Nuggets as rivals with 4 2025-26 regular season games on national TV
In arguably the best series in the 2025 NBA playoffs, the Oklahoma City Thunder passed their toughest test with a Game 7 win over the Denver Nuggets. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander bested Nikola Jokic in the battle of MVP candidates. The Round 2 series' consequences were heavier than most. The Thunder and Nuggets provided some of the best playoff basketball. A three-time MVP winner almost took down one of the greatest teams ever by himself. Instead, Gilgeous-Alexander did enough to carry his squad to the finish line. As the NBA released its entire 2025-26 regular season schedule, the Thunder and Nuggets will have all four of their matchups on national television. The Thunder are tied with the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors and New York Knicks for the most national TV games this upcoming season at 34. The Thunder will travel to face the Nuggets on Sunday, Feb. 1. The game will be broadcast on NBC and Peacock. Next up, OKC will host Denver on Friday, Feb. 27. That will be shown on ESPN. The two meet again at Paycom Center on Monday, Mar. 9. That will be on Peacock. And finally, the Thunder travel to Denver on Friday, Apr. 10. That game will be on Amazon Prime. Considering it's the penultimate game of the regular season, there's a decent chance the game won't mean much by the time it rolls around. We'll see. Examining the schedule, the NBA believes the Thunder and Nuggets are a rivalry worth investing in. All four matchups being on national television prove that. It's an easy bet to make if you're the schedule-makers. Gilgeous-Alexander and Jokic have been the top two players over the last two seasons. That should only continue.
