MILAN (AP) — Marcus Thuram enjoyed a bittersweet return to the city of his birth as he scored a bizarre goal that even had his famous father shaking his head.
His goal extended Inter Milan's lead to 2-0 by halftime at Parma but the Serie A front-runner couldn't hold it and ended up drawing 2-2 on Saturday.

Inter inched four points clear of second-placed Napoli, which visits Bologna on Monday.
Parma's fourth straight draw moved it four points above the relegation zone.
Inter is in the hunt for a treble — which it achieved in 2010, under Jose Mourinho. The Nerazzurri drew with AC Milan 1-1 in the first leg of their Italian Cup semifinal midweek and play at Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarterfinals on Tuesday.
Despite the intense schedule, coach Simone Inzaghi opted not to rotate his squad and Inter took the lead in the 15th minute thanks to several strokes of fortune.
Lautaro Martinez's attempt at a one-two was intercepted by a Parma defender but the ricochet came to Federico Dimarco, whose cross was deflected by another Parma player to a completely unmarked Matteo Darmian. And his effort clipped the right post but rolled in.

Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer made two fantastic saves inside the opening 20 minutes before the visitors doubled their lead in even stranger circumstances.
Thuram spectacularly shinned a cross from Henrikh Mkhitaryan but it looped up in the air and goalwards. Pontus Almqvist tried to clear it off the line but the Parma winger kicked it off his own face and in.
Thuram's father, World Cup winner Lilian Thuram, was watching from the stands and both he and his son looked embarrassed.
Thuram was born in Parma while his father was playing for the team.
It was Thuram's 14th league goal this season — 17th across all competitions — and a personal record for the France international.

Parma got back into the match on the hour mark when halftime substitute Adrián Bernabé drilled into the bottom right corner from 20 meters for his first goal in Serie A.
Another substitute helped Parma turn the match around completely nine minutes later when Jacob Ondrejka's effort was deflected past Sommer.
Desperate Monza
Bottom club Monza looks ever more doomed after losing at home to Como 3-1 left it 10 points from safety.
Como moved 10 points above the bottom three.
AC Milan was playing Fiorentina later.

Pulisic hits back at ex-USA players over absence criticism

AC Milan winger Christian Pulisic has hit back at critics of his decision to skip Gold Cup duty with the USA national team (CARLO HERMANN) USA captain Christian Pulisic has hit back at former players who have criticised his decision to miss this month's CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament being held a year out from the World Cup. The USA will co-host the World Cup with Canada and Mexico but Pulisic, 26, opted to rest during June rather than play in two friendly games and up to six matches against regional opponents. Advertisement Former USA star Landon Donovan was one of those who heavily criticised Pulisic's decision comparing it unfavourably with Cristiano Ronaldo playing in the Nations League at the age of 40. "You can talk about my performances, whatever you want, but to question my commitment, especially towards the national team? In my opinion, that's way out of line," said the AC Milan winger. Donovan was just one of a cast of former USA players, appearing on talk shows and podcasts, criticising Pulisic and questioning his commitment but Pulisic said some were saying different things in private. "It is tough, because I looked up to those guys growing up. Some of those guys were my idols, and I respect them so much as players. It's tough, especially when — some of them, as well, privately, the way they talk to me and clearly want to show support and be your friend and everything. And then it goes, and they say something slightly different publicly. That's fine. It doesn't hurt me," he said. Advertisement Pulisic, who has made 72 appearances for his country, said his decision had been based on an evaluation of his physical condition at the end of the Serie A season. "It sucks for me to miss out with the team. I want to be a part of the team always. But to be honest, towards the second half and the end of the season, my body just started talking to me," he said. "I started to think, you know, what's going to be best for me leading into next year and going into the World Cup. Is that to play eight more games, get no rest at all, go straight into preseason and then grind another year, and go straight into the World Cup? That's not what I felt was best for my body," he added. Pulisic has played 120 games for club and country in the past two seasons. Advertisement - Absentees - The winger isn't the only regular starter for the USA who will be missing for the Gold Cup where Mauricio Pochettino's side will face Trindidad and Tobago, Haiti and Saudi Arabia in the group stage. Fulham defender Antonee Robinson also has time off to recover from injuries and Milan midfielder Yunus Musah is absent for personal reasons. Weston McKennie and Tim Weah are on Club World Cup duty for Juventus with Giovanni Reyna also in that tournament for Borussia Dortmund. But Pulisic said he had offered to line up for the USA in the recent friendly matches against Turkey and Switzerland -- which both ended up in defeat with the Swiss providing a 4-0 hammering. Advertisement "The only point I would make with that is that I did want to be part of at least the two friendlies," he said. "I did speak with the coaches, and I asked and I wanted to be part of the team in whatever capacity I could. They said no; they said they only wanted one roster, and that's a coach's decision. I fully respect that. I didn't understand it, but it is what it is," he said. "I wanted to be a part of that, but that's just the way things went. I had to make the best decision for myself, and also, in the long run, my team, although, clearly, some people haven't seen it that way," he said. Pulisic said he hoped that fans and pundits who have turned against him would change their views when he returns fit and fresh. Advertisement "You know how it is: people forget really quickly. Once I'm back with the national team — I hope — once I'm back with the national team and can play again, score a goal and win a game, people will forget all about this quickly," he added. sev/ea

De Bruyne's Italian job: Man City star signs for Napoli

Two-time Premier League player of the season Kevin De Bruyne has signed as a free agent with Serie A champions Napoli. "KING KEV IS HERE," Napoli declared in a series of posts on X on Thursday. The 33-year-old De Bruyne's contract at Manchester City has expired but Napoli did not announce the length of his new contract. KING KEV IS HERE 👑 💙 #ProudToBeNapoli | #ForzaNapoliSempre | #WelcomeKevin — Official SSC Napoli (@sscnapoli) June 12, 2025 Around 150 fans welcomed De Bruyne on his arrival at a clinic in Rome for his medical. They chanted his name before also singing about Napoli being champions after the player had gone into the facility. At the Italian giants, De Bruyne will reunite with Belgium teammate Romelu Lukaku and follow in the footsteps of former Napoli great Dries Mertens, an ex-Belgium international. In Napoli's midfield, De Bruyne can team up with Serie A player of the year Scott McTominay, who made a highly successful move from City's neighbours and rivals, Manchester United. Known as one of soccer's most complete midfielders, De Bruyne was named the best player in the Premier League for the 2019-2020 and 2021-22 seasons and is generally considered one of the finest players of the EPL era. In 10 seasons at City, he helped City to six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and a Champions League trophy. The addition of De Bruyne may have been one of the reasons that convinced Napoli coach Antonio Conte to stay on for another season after he had considered rejoining Juventus.
