Seventeen's Wonwoo marks birthday with self-written song

Korea Herald17-07-2025
Wonwoo of Seventeen shared a self-written ballad on Thursday in time for his birthday, agency Pledis Entertainment announced.
The single is titled 'Gogae,' which translates as a hill, and over the sounds of piano and strings, he sings to his fans how he will cherish the memories of rising above hills together and will gladly tackle the next with hope. The message is even more clear in the accompanying music video of an animation of a cat journeying over a hill together with a butterfly it encountered on the way.
The idol is currently serving his mandatory military duty as an social agent. He said hello to fans last week via a fandom communication platform uploading a picture of himself visiting an arboretum with I.M of Monsta X and Woodz. He was also spotted at the concert of band's subunit Hoshi and Woozi.

Monsta X's I.M suffers back injury

I.M of Monsta X has had to suspend activities due to a back injury, agency Starship Entertainment said Tuesday. He will not be able to join group activities including its appearance at KCON LA 2025 on Aug. 2. He canceled his solo appearance at Waterbomb Busan 2025 last week as well. The band is set to make a comeback as a full group on Sept. 1 with 13th EP 'The X.' At its concert held in Seoul earlier this month, the six-piece act gave fans a taste of the mini album, performing a track from the upcoming set — 'Fire & Ice' written by Hyungwon. The three-day live show and the EP mark the 10-year career of the band.

Seventeen to tour US in October

Pledis Entertainment announced on Tuesday plans for Seventeen's US tour. Nine of the group's 13 members will travel to five cities in the country — Tacoma, Los Angeles, Austin, Sunrise and Washington D.C. — for 10 live shows from Oct. 11 to 30. The five-city trip will be part of its 'New_' international tour that will kick off in Incheon on Sept. 13. Following the American stages, the group will begin the Japan leg of the tour, with 10 performances across 4 major domes. In May, Seventeen celebrated its decade-long career with its fifth full album 'Happy Burstday,' which entered Billboard 200 at No. 2, its seventh back-to-back entry among the top ten on the main albums chart. The LP sold over 2.5 million copies and swept all major music charts at home as well as Oricon's Daily, Weekly and Weekly Combined Album Rankings.

Seventeen announces world tour

Seventeen will launch an international tour in September, its agency Pledis Entertainment announced Monday. The team will kick off the 'New_' tour on Sept. 13-14 in Incheon. The two shows will also be livestreamed globally. More stops and dates are yet to be announced, but the set list for the upcoming concerts will include songs from the group's fifth full album 'Happy Burstday,' which was released in May in time for the band's 10th debut anniversary. The 16-track album entered the Billboard 200 at No. 2, and the main track 'Thunder' swept all major music charts at home. The LP sold over 2.5 million copies in its first week, setting the record for a K-pop album released this year. Seventeen's previous tour 'Right Here' ranked No. 3, the highest spot for a K-pop artist, on Billboard's midyear Top Tours chart, scoring $120.9 million. Currently, members Wonwoo and Jeonghan are completing their mandatory military service; Woozi and Hoshi will enlist in September and will not participate in the tour.
