South Korean star Park Bo-gum returns to KL on September 13 for ‘Be With You' fan meeting
KUALA LUMPUR, May 31 — Park Bo-gum fans, mark your calendars — the beloved South Korean actor is returning to Kuala Lumpur on September 13 for a one-night-only fan meeting that promises plenty of heart, charm and possibly a song or two.
The event, part of his 'Be With You' fan meeting tour, will take place at the Idea Live Arena in 3 Damansara in Petaling Jaya.
Organised by iMe Malaysia, the meet-and-greet will be Park's final stop after swinging by Manila and Bangkok.
Ticketing details, including seating plans, are expected to drop soon.
Park, 31, is no stranger to Malaysian fans.
His last visit was back in 2019, when he memorably sang a heartfelt rendition of Innuendo's 'Belaian Jiwa', instantly winning over the local crowd.
Now, six years later, he's ready to reconnect with fans — and no doubt make some new ones — fresh off the success of his latest hit When Life Gives You Tangerines on Netflix.
The actor, known for his warmth on and off screen, shot to fame with dramas like Reply 1988 and Love In The Moonlight, and has since established himself as a leading man in K-drama and beyond.
Not just an actor, he's also a recording artist with albums in both Korean and Japanese under his belt.

Winnie Ong, 53, who has been in the business for only three years, won the top prize at the Penang Char Koay Teow Competition 2025. Ong, who trades at Swee Kong Coffee Shop, was surprised by her win, saying it was her daughter who had signed her up for the competition. She agreed to join only to 'try my luck', Buletin Mutiara reported. 'I don't have a secret recipe, maybe it's the sauce that makes the difference. Thank you to the organisers and all the supporters. This is truly a memorable day for me,' said Ong, who can sell up to 200 plates of the iconic noodle dish over a weekend. Second place went to 50-year-old Chin Foh Shin, who has been operating at Hobe Restaurant in Seberang Perai for more than 10 years. Third place was taken by Khoo Kay Keat, 47, who fries up his noodles in Beng Chin Garden Restaurant in Ayer Itam. The competition was organised by the Jalan Transfer and Jalan Argyll village community management council, which plans to hold the next competition in 2027. A total of 30 hawkers took part while members of the public were allowed to sample the various plates fried up by the contestants, with the costs covered by the organisers. 'As we often say: 'food is the soul of a city', and char koay teow is indeed one of the soul symbols of Penang's culinary identity. It is not only an emotional attachment but also a taste embedded in the memories of Penangites,' he said.

M'sian drivers who jump queue at S'pore checkpoints risk ban, warns ICA

(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : Singapore has warned motorists, including Malaysians, that they risk severe penalties, including blacklisting and a possible ban, if they jump queue at the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints. The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said it will be on the lookout for inconsiderate drivers, especially in view of the June school holidays, The Straits Times reported. Mardiana Masdar, team leader at the integrated operations centre at the Woodlands checkpoint, said ground officers who spot vehicles jumping queue will alert the team at the operations centre. They will relay this information to traffic controllers near the checkpoint to direct them to make a U-turn to rejoin the queue. 'If they are non-compliant, we will refer them to our secondary office, where we are able to show them CCTV footage of them cutting queue,' she said. In June 2023, a Malaysian driver travelling from Singapore to Malaysia via the Woodlands checkpoint had refused to make a U-turn, and even drove off after being caught by ICA for trying to jump the queue. Because of his non-compliance and dangerous driving, the driver and car were banned from entering Singapore. The ICA said traffic is expected to be heavy at both land checkpoints during the June school holidays, particularly during the Hari Raya Haji weekend between June 6 and June 9. The authority said that during the long Wesak Day weekend between May 8 and May 13, more than three million travellers crossed the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints. The traffic volume peaked on May 9, with more than 546,000 travellers clearing immigration at both checkpoints in one day.

Penang's best char koay teow? Judges say it's from Pulau Tikus after sizzling street food contest
GEORGE TOWN, June 1 — A beloved char koay teow stall in Pulau Tikus has claimed the top spot in a Penang-wide cook-off, winning over judges with its perfect wok hei and bold flavours. According to The Star, Hean Char Koay Teow, run by 53-year-old Ong Siew Kean — better known as Winny Ong — was crowned champion at a competition held at the Toi Shan Ningyang Wui Kwon clan temple on King Street today. Ong edged out 29 other contenders in the showdown. While participants were provided with standard ingredients — prawns, eggs, noodles, and bean sprouts — each brought their own sauces and cockles to showcase their signature style. The second place went to Chin Foh Shin from Taman Tanjung Aman, while Khoo Kay Keat of Kong Long Char Koay Teow came in third. The English daily reported that judges scored the dishes based on taste, aroma, and presentation.
