A spokesperson said the ministry was notified of a workplace fatality on May 23.
Greater Sudbury Police said officers were contacted in relation to the death of 19-year-old Roch (Rocco) Renaud around 8 p.m. that day.
Police told CBC News that Renaud "was located unconscious and with no vital signs at an address in Lively."
Renaud was transported to hospital by Sudbury Paramedic Services where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the investigation into Renaud's death is ongoing, adding that detectives from the Major Crime Section are working in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and the Coroner's Office.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Labour said at the time that it was notified about the death, it reported that a worker was "fatally injured while performing maintenance work."
Following the notification, ministry inspectors attended the scene, the ministry said.
"The ministry extends its sincere condolences to the family and colleagues of the worker," reads an email from the Ministry of Labour to CBC News.
