EXO's Kai discharged

Korea Herald10-02-2025

Kai of EXO completed his mandatory military service Monday, according to label SM Entertainment.
He served as a social service agent from May 2023. He surprised fans when he shared the news of his impending enlistment barely a week before beginning his service. At the time, he acknowledged that his enlistment date was also sudden for him.
His return raises expectations for the group's comeback as a full group. Kai was unable to participate in the group's 2023 promotions for "Exist" due to his unanticipated enlistment.
Sehun, the youngest member, is the only member to be enlisted now and will be discharged in September. Bandmates have been reassuring fans, at concerts and in interviews, that all members will reunite this year for team activities.
Jimin of BTS garnered 200 million plays on Spotify with the single 'Smeraldo Garden Marching Band (feat. Loco).'
This makes him the first K-pop solo singer to have 10 songs to reach the milestone on the platform.
The single was unveiled in advance to the full release of his second solo EP 'Muse' and debuted on Billboard's Hot 100 at No. 88. It debuted atop the iTunes Top Songs Chart in 111 regions, after hitting the top of the chart in 100 in less than five hours.
In the meantime, the mini album has spent 28 consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200, ranking No. 115 and extending the record streak for a K-pop solo album. The main track 'Who' claimed the No. 31 spot on the Hot 100, logging its 27th week on the chart, the third-most for a K-pop act.

The Black Label to launch coed quintet

A five-member act named Allday Project is slated to debut on June 23 under The Black Label, the agency announced Monday. The quintet will comprise two male and three female members — including Youngseo and Annie. Youngseo had been expected to debut in girl group Illit when she claimed the No. 2 spot on K-pop competition show 'R U Next?' through which the group was formed. However, she parted ways with agency Belift Lab and Illit debuted with five members. Annie, meanwhile, is the eldest daughter of Shinsegae Chairperson Chung Yoo-kyung and the granddaughter of the group's Chair Lee Myung-hee. She is a Columbia grad whose real name is Moon Seo-yoon, and has been training under Teddy Park, the CEO of The Black Label known as a main producer behind Blackpink, since last year. The mixed-gender band opened a social media account on Monday and will put out a series of teasers leading up to its debut.

Seventeen's 5th LP hits Billboard 200 at No. 2

Seventeen entered the Billboard 200 at No. 2 with its fifth studio album, according to the chart preview published Sunday in the US. The LP 'Happy Burstday' is the band's third album to claim the second highest spot on the main albums chart, as did its 10th and 11th mini albums 'FML' and 'Seventeenth Heaven." It is the seventh consecutive set to chart in the top 10. The album was released in May and sold over 2.5 million copies in the first week, the most for a K-pop album released this year. It topped Oricon's Daily, Weekly and Weekly Combined Album Rankings as well as a number of music charts abroad. All 16 tracks hogged the highest rungs on Melon's real-time chart, and the main track 'Thunder' notched the top spot on its Top 100. With the track, the band has taken home five local music chart show trophies.
