Maria Taylor Named Lead NBA & WNBA Studio Host For NBC
Taylor will host NBC Sports' NBA studio shows on Sunday and Tuesday nights alongside analysts Carmelo Anthony and Vince Carter on NBC and Peacock. Along with the studio gig, Taylor will also host select WNBA games on NBC and Peacock in 2026, according to NBC.com.

The NBA on NBC and Peacock will spotlight national coverage of regional doubleheaders on Tuesday nights beginning in October. After Sunday Night Football coverage concludes in Jan. 2026, NBC Sports will launch Sunday Night Basketball across NBC and Peacock on Feb. 1. Peacock will also livestream exclusive national Monday night games starting this fall.
Taylor has been the lead host of Football Night in America since 2022. Taylor has also hosted for the Tokyo, Beijing, and Paris Olympics; Big Ten College Countdown and NBC Sports' primetime college football studio program among others.
Due to her new NBA role, Taylor will no longer host Big Ten College Countdown. A new host will be announced soon.

Taylor won a Sports Emmy for Outstanding Live Special – Championship Event as part of NBCUniversal's coverage of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

'Leo Euro,' Harlow captioned the post, referring to her and Kuzma's star signs as well as the current zodiac season. The NBA stars were teammates for three seasons and won a championship together in 2020. Kuzma now plays for the Milwaukee Bucks. It's unclear when the photo was taken but it has since gone viral following LeBron's absence from Luka Doncic's press conference when he agreed to a three-year, $165 million extension on Saturday. Unlike Doncic, LeBron has not signed a contract extension, making him a free agent in the summer of 2026. LeBron has also been at the center of trade rumors with his future with the Lakers seemingly up in the air. The four-time NBA champion was seen about both Cavaliers and old Clippers training facilities. His agent, Rich Paul, also made a striking claim about LeBron's future with the Lakers. 'LeBron wants to compete for a championship,' Paul told ESPN last month. 'He knows the Lakers are building for the future. He understands that, but he values a realistic chance of winning it all. We are very appreciative of the partnership that we've had for eight years with Jeanie [Buss] and Rob [Pelinka] and consider the Lakers as a critical part of his career. 'We understand the difficulty in winning now while preparing for the future. We do want to evaluate what's best for LeBron at this stage in his life and career. He wants to make every season he has left count, and the Lakers understand that, are supportive and want what's best for him.' LeBron currently is in a two year contract, worth $101.3 million, with a player option for the second year with the Lakers. The contract has a no-trade clause as well. While it's possible that LeBron could go to another team for the 2026-27 season, retiring is also an option as he had been in the NBA for 22 seasons thus far. Lakers GM Rob Pelinka shared that it would be 'great' for the NBA icon to retire as a Laker. 'All the interactions we've had with LeBron and his camp, Rich Paul in particular, have been very positive and supportive,' Pelinka said when asked if he expects LeBron to end his career with the Lakers. 'Very professional and Rich has been great. The dialogue with him has been open and constant. 'In terms of LeBron's career, I think the No. 1 thing we have to do there is respect he and his family's decision in terms of how long he's going to play. I think that's first and foremost. We want to respect his ability to come up with his timetable and that's really important. If he had the chance to retire as a Laker, that would be great.' The Lakers kick off their 2025-26 season will reportedly be on Oct. 21 against the Golden State Warriors. James and Curry, along with Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant, provided the heroics in both games, allowing the United States to capture the gold medal for the fifth straight time. For a brief stretch, fans of the Lakers and the Warriors were on the same page. The 37-year-old Curry took to Instagram to reminisce about their victory over France and his entire experience in the 2024 Paris Olympics. 'A year ago, today. We did that! Loved hooping with my guys, representing our country, and bringing home the 🥇. Memories for a lifetime. Avengers forever. #nuitnuit,' wrote the Warriors guard. James and Curry have developed a tight bond over the years, a complete turnaround from their tension-filled rivalry during the Warriors' dynastic run. Since then, they've found a kindred spirit in each other—two future Hall of Famers fueled by their families and communities. Both glowed in the City of Lights last year, and that's a shared experience of a lifetime. Decades from now, when they're not playing for the Lakers and the Warriors anymore, James and Curry can always look back on how they stood head and shoulders above the rest of the world. Could Kevin Durant's contract extension with Rockets be for considerably less than max?
Kevin Durant in Houston feels like a hand-in-glove fit. The Rockets wanted Durant, and Houston was on his short list of places he wanted to be traded. When asked about the organization, Durant praised the Rockets. He fills the need for a half-court scoring threat that will open up their offense. The only question is the money on Durant's contract extension. Durant is in the final year of his current contract at $57.4 million. The Rockets can offer him a max two-year, $122.1 million extension (no team can offer Durant more than two years because of the over 38 rule). There was always an expectation that Durant would take a bit of a haircut off that max number, but that cut may be deeper than just a haircut, according to ESPN's Tim MacMahon and Brian Windhorst on the Hoop Collective podcast (hat tip Hoopshype). MacMahon: "By all appearances and by what I've heard, they're not going all in on an extension for Kevin Durant. Now, doesn't mean it won't happen, but there've been rumblings of KD not going to push for the full max. I don't know that the Rockets are going to put anything on the table that's close to the max." Windhorst: "I think the Rockets are like it's not ideal, but I don't think they would panic if they go into the season with Kevin Durant just on the contract that he's on just on the on the expiring deal... I'll say this, Rafael Stone, since he's been the GM of the of the Rockets, he's signed quite a few giant contracts, but a lot most of them have been short." The contract has to be short in this case, but what is a fair number for the future Hall of Famer? One source who spoke to NBC Sports during Summer League suggested KD might dip to about the $100 million mark for two years, around $10 million a season below the max but still $50 million a season. However, maybe that number is too high. Maybe Durant will take less — he has the right to make whatever choice he thinks is best for him, his legacy and his family. Maybe everyone is comfortable going into the season without an extension and seeing how things play out. That said, we are more than a month out from the start of training camps, and a lot of deals get done right around the beginning of camp. This is all just something to watch.
